  1. Yeah, I mean make them eat some clock, giving them a 1 minute TD AND conversion at a time when you really have the game in control. Feels like we were always holding on in the face of a furious late rally last season.
  2. I don't think Rodgers has hit the ground today
  3. We have looked brilliant and awful at the same time today
  4. Oof. MVS meet Rodgers doghouse
  5. He made a 50 yard kick 35 yards. It was a huge penalty. Indoors but I am not sure about their kicker. But sure he may have missed it just saying they were still going to kick it and it was still like 70%? Rodgers looking good, leaning on Adams too much but the guy knows how to get open. Especially like those darts on the 2 TD's.
  6. I am sure that throw gave Cousins some confidence as well, we will see how they come out on this first drive but dammit!!!
  7. That really sucks, had them on the ropes and they were really giving up but gave up the big draw. Crappy penalty but they were in FG range anyway
  8. I agree with going for it on 4th and goal from the 1. I don't agree with having 2nd and goal at the 1 and never once in 3 plays using the bruising 250 pound back for the exact sole situation that you invested a 2nd round pick in him for. I knew they would go for it, over the years that has evolved into the default call when 4th and goal at the 1. I wish coaches had a better feel for it though, sometimes you can just feel the momentum shift on the previous downs. I don't know why Dillon is not in there but Jones is pretty good at the goal line.
  9. I think we were pretty good on red zone efficiency last year
  10. Well that makes you feel better about going for it on 4th
  11. Yeah I could feel that coming after the 2nd down play, 4th down and you throw a quick slant in traffic like that? At the end of the day that sequence may be what kills us today.
  12. Well it's one drive but sheesh not even close to stopping a run play.
  13. Anyone else having issues with Hulu Live cutting in and out?
  14. I know he missed time but seems like they are paying Wagner a lot as a backup if they can't count on him. Gotta get your best players on the field though, especially at the tackles.
  15. Listening to pregame doesn't sound like the Packers are too confident in Ricky Wagner, good thing Hunter is out.
  16. I believe Woodruff has now had 3 games of at least 7 IP and allowing only 1 hit in the last year or so. That is pretty impressive, maybe he is the guy who will get our 2nd franchise no hitter. Edit: He only pitched 6.1 in his 1 hit performance against Pitt earlier this season
  17. It's a weird season obviously, like someone else pointed out to me it's like watching the Badgers play a Bahamas holiday tourney. I have always said I just assume Giannis is leaving and will be pleasantly surprised if he doesn't but I don't know if this collapse will carry that much weight in his decision other than giving him an excuse if he was already planning on leaving. Getting swept out in second round would be a pretty ugly exit though.
  18. I love going to Lambeau...but I hate the drive up, the traffic and all the rest, so in that sense, I usually sell most of my tickets and only go to one game a year. I don't really find the Timeouts and all that to be the problem...it's the fans at Lambeau. You get up and stand during a 3rd down on D and you have people tapping you on the shoulder. It gets so annoying. It's an older fan base, so...I get it and maybe it's just the section I have, but it feels like you're supposed to act like you're at the Master, not an NFL game. Baseball games I love going to on like Wednesday afternoons when you had 18K people there and I can kick back. I would say it depends on the magnitude of the 3rd down. No one wants to stand for every play, people are eating/drinking and in the bleachers things are pretty tight. I do get annoyed when someone stands up in front of me every other play, must be getting old. But I am with OldSchoolSnapper on the experience at an NFL game, it's just a pain in the ass these days to go and the games are so much better on TV now than 30-40 years ago. I think the long security lines sort of were the last straw for me but I did make 2 of my games last year(gold) and had a good time, once you get to your seat it's great. What does everyone think about maybe getting Everson Griffen? Seems like a mistfit for our D but I am always hoping we move away from the 3-4 anyway.
  19. Looking forward to seeing the new improved Freddy today, I guess I am right back where I was early last season with big hopes that we are finally developing our own quality young rotation.
  20. We are learning as we go here but I agree, there wasn't a big surge in florida after all the spring break stuff in the media or after the Ozarks stuff but like La Crosse I read this morning that the Florida surge is being driven by younger people. That tells me crowded air conditioned bars may be a huge problem in the summer, I have spent about 10 years in Florida and for sure this time of year people start staying indoors just like in winter in Wisconsin. It seems obvious that bars are a huge risk, people drinking being less safe isn't exactly a revelation. I have a friend in Portland who tells me that social distancing in bars in mandatory there, can't sit at the bar, etc. Not sure if he is just justifying his return to bars or not but that seems like a big hole in the reopening, you just can't count on people in their early 20's to do the right thing, I know I was there once.
  21. The frustrating thing is this whole outbreak in La Crosse seems to be about bar hopping 20 somethings. Maybe it was bound to rage through that crowd eventually and better to get it over with but it's annoying because I have the week off and am now right back on lockdown since I have family coming in one of whom has asthma. But no one seems to be adjusting to it despite daily warnings from the county, I would say mask wearing outside of store employees is about 20-25% right now in La Crosse, way down from a few weeks ago. Sorry to hear about your mom, I lost both my parents too soon and you never really get over it.
  22. Well I looked it up after reading this and he made 10 starts for the Dolphins last year, hard to read too much into playing for a bad team but Tom Oates said this in an article today that was sort of critical of Pettine: Take former University of Wisconsin outside linebacker Vince Biegel, for instance. Drafted in 2017, Biegel played sparingly in the final nine games of his rookie season after recovering from foot surgery. Then Pettine arrived and Biegel, who doesn’t fit Pettine’s preference for big outside linebackers, was released prior to the 2018 season, which means the Packers gave up on a fourth-round pick after only nine games and one training camp. Biegel wouldn’t have turned around the defense, but the Packers ran off a player who was a 10-game starter for Miami last season and is considered a part of that team’s future. https://www.laconiadailysun.com/sports/national/tom-oates-packers-defensive-coordinator-mike-pettine-has-a-short-leash-with-players/article_8b9d072b-bbdf-5720-96ac-f6debb3ce9c7.html
  23. I haven't been following this that much, just waiting for an announcement either way, and I am sure this has been covered here but just reading if there is no season the players get service time that matches 2019. So guys like Woodruff and Hader are both a year closer to FA and for us it's about like they missed a season due to injury. But if we play for 3 months they get 3 months service time which could push out FA for some guys another year? If true it seems like they made it more complicated to get a deal done to play this year.
  24. A newer article laying out some of the details that I didn't know about. https://deadspin.com/espn-pal-blocks-for-favre-in-mississippi-boondoggle-bu-1843361554
  25. I tried to find that article from 2010 but only found a Peter King article who I am reminded was a master of ass kissing so he could be the inside source with the top NFL stars. So not sure how accurate my memory was of his money needs around supporting his family.Take it for what it's worth, in 2010 during Favre's last waffling I was working for a yacht company in South Florida. One of the brokers had a client who was a minority owner of the Vikes and he told me this client said that the whole retirement thing was that Favre wanted a pay raise and the Childress/players flight down to Mississippi was just a show as Favre didn't want his image tainted by it appearing to be a contract holdout. He said the owners were kind of annoyed by it and considered not paying and seeing if Favre showed up anyway. I don't know that this is any kind of revelation, just passing on something I heard at the time and it may be why I remember that article about his extensive family the way I do. I have no idea what Favre financial situation is, like I say it is of course relative when talking about the needs of the wealthy. My comment about the 1.1 million being a windfall is that it seems like a lot of money for him to make for some appearances. But if he is pulling in 5 million a year in endorsements and appearances these days then sure, that could have been stuff managed by his agent that he wasn't really aware of. I guess I am just cynical whenever I hear stuff like this, I read the article on it and I envision a private box at the Sugar Bowl full of wealthy donors who get to party with a Mississippi legend.
