  1. I am pulling for the Chiefs, I like their fans and a midwest matchup of GB and KC would be really cool.
  2. Alex Light? Yeah, I always call him Matt for some reason.
  3. We sure aren't getting much love from the experts, I thought the Rodgers angle would get more people on our bandwagon but the consensus seems to be we are going to get smoked. I heard one handicapper on the radio this morning say that they are better than us in every stat other than red zone efficiency, he expects a fairly easy double digit victory for the Niners. Spread now up to -8, fans are betting Packers but the sharpies are all over SF. I had forgotten but Bulaga was knocked out in the 1st quarter of the first game and Matt Light came in and was awful, that's one area we should be better today.
  4. I have never had T-Jo's, but then I have always lived on the south side and haven't lived here for most of my adult life either. I am going to try it soon though, can never try enough new pizza. I am sort of craving a slice of Rocky's sausage since reading this thread but I have to go up to the north side for that now too. There used to be a Happy Joe's take out place down by the brewery that had similar slices to Rocky's, square and doughy, I really loved that place. Looks like that chain is still around but the pizza pictures on their website don't look anything like I remember.
  5. Yeah I want to go join some friends at a bar for this one but the game won't be over until after 9 and I have to work in the AM, if we win I will be so jacked up I am sure I will be up until 1 listening to postgame. If it was the early game it would be an easy decision. I thought they alternated the games every year but I think Seattle was the late game and 2 years later Atl was early. They should go back to the noon/3:30 schedule. I think the early game on championship Sunday used to start at 11:30AM, I remember as a kid listening to Oilers/Pittsburgh on the way home from church.
  6. Was just reading that the Packers have been playing a lot of 2-4-5 with 3 OLB and Martinez down the stretch so not as much playing time for the Campbell/Greene role. Hard to argue with the results but probably nice to have Greene available if they have to do some in game adjustments to what SF is doing.
  7. That is double good news, has Greene been able to practice? He was playing pretty well before he got hurt.
  8. Totally agree on having a defense now, I may be singing a different tune tomorrow night if the defense gets stomped on but I don't think it will, 27 points and probably even 24 should get us to the Super Bowl. That's a tall order against that D but Rodgers still has it in him. We may need a defensive TD or at least a short field though. Speaking of which, have the Packers scored a defensive TD all year? I don't remember one, if not we are due.
  9. To be honest I don't remember how well Rodgers played in the playoff losses, probably because I always avoid media coverage on them for a few days after such losses. But looking at the stats it hasn't been great, he was lights out in the first Zona game(where he also blew the game winning throw and fumbled away the game ), probably had his worst games in the most significant losses NY 2011 and SEA 2014, and had some of his better statistical games in blowout losses at ATL and SF. He must have been awful before his last 2 throws in the second Zona game. I don't know, as the best player in the game it seems like it could have been better. I think I started this with comments I relayed from a radio show that IF they lose tomorrow that will be the narrative. That hasn't happened yet and I am optimistic about this game.
  10. Sheesh, at least it's not the morning of the game like Bulaga last week but what do you do to replace a punter? Hopefully we won't need to punt I guess.
  11. You can throw out outliers like this to try to discredit any stat but I sort of doubt any of the all time great QB's padded their playoff record with a bunch of wins like this. If you want to give them an extra win for earning a bye that's fine, I don't think it's going to make some guys look much better or worse though. Really it's just another way of saying Rodgers has only won 1 Super Bowl, of the 10 guys who have won 10 or more playoff games only Favre and PManning have worse records than Rodgers and both were criticized for it during their careers. Is it fair to judge one player for the teams wins and losses? NFL QB is the only position in sports I think you can and that is only during the passing era. If you don't think it's fair that's fine, but you have to be aware that postseason success is something people do look at when judging the great QB's. I am as big a fan of Rodgers as anyone and I know his teams have been flawed, especially on defense, but the clock is ticking on his career and he has a pretty good team behind him this year like he did in 2011 and 2014. Can't wait for the game to start.
  12. And the winner is 2-0 and is going to the Super Bowl, which would you rather be? I think I get what you are saying, if we went 9-7 and missed the playoffs there would be no conversation about Rodgers not getting it done. But I would say playoff record is pretty damn important, getting wins there is what it is all about. I always remind myself that the Lions have 1 playoff win in my lifetime. I am 51.
  13. Rocky's sausage is amazing but I don't care for all that dough, there has to be better balance. I had both Pizza Hut and Papa Johns once in the last few years ad couldn't stomach more than a couple of pieces. Pizza Pit LOL we used to order that after bar when I was in my early 20's, greasiest pizza ever but hit the spot at that time. For my hometown favorite South Lanes Pizza in La Crosse is the best in town, the sausage pepperoni is perfection. Best pizza I ever had was at these mediterranean places in Minneapolis, there was one right next door to First Avenue downtown and one Uptown in the 90's. The gyro, the eggplant, the spinach, they were all amazing. Not sure if they are still around, I doubt it.
  14. Jones had a nearly identical drop earlier in the playoffs, can't remember which game. I don't remember Zona missing a chip shot to win at all, funny how you forget the other teams gaffs.
  15. If we lose I will check in on whatever show Skip Bayless is on now on Monday and see what he thinks.
  16. A play or 2 before that Rogers overthrew a wide open Jennings for what would have been the game winning TD after leading a furious comeback. Pretty weird how we lost both those Zona games.
  17. Fair or not more than any other position in American pro sports QB's are judged on championships. PManning for all his stats was always criticized for falling short too often, Elway wasn't really all that great a QB but those late championships really elevated how people viewed his career. Brady has a bunch of lousy playoff games that they still won. We packer fans all know the circumstances around the losses but losing 3 conference championships is going to be talked about. Honestly if Rodgers has his A game going on Sunday this team is talented enough to beat the Niners, I don't think we are at as much of a talent disadvantage as that earlier loss makes it seem. The defense is as talented as anything we have had since 2010.
  18. Was listening to some radio show last night and they were talking about how it doesn't matter that they are 7 point underdogs or that some people don't expect them to win, if they lose the narrative will be Rodgers can't get it done. That's fair, he hasn't been back in 9 years and is getting close to Favre territory. And it probably bothers Rodgers more than it did Favre as I think he does care about his place in football history. I heard him in an interview bring up that it would nice to have one of these at home but you still have to get it done if you want people to talk about you as one of the GOAT. Time to step up.
  19. I could be wrong but even with no whistle and a ref downfield ruling a TD on the return if the official on the spot says wait a minute runner was down the ball gets brought back even if it is overturned. That is what I was getting at with my above post, you can't make fumble returned for a TD the default call and wait for the review, as we saw on the last meaningful play Sunday they don't always have the answer on replay. Plus the refs are human, I want them to go with what they saw and immediately call it, the longer they wait the less sure they will be about what they saw.
  20. I don't like the idea of putting the idea in the refs head that if it is close rule it a fumble and let replay sort it out because if replay is inconclusive you possibly award a TD when he was down. Sometimes the refs on the spot really do have the best sight of the play.
  21. Rodgers looked pretty good yesterday, he has to know he isn't going to get to too many more conference championship games. To me that is our biggest hope, if he can vastly outplay Jimmy G we have a shot. I am optimistic, not predicting a win, just a feeling we are due and we have the more experienced QB. I feel much better than Atlanta NFCC, maybe about the same as Seattle. I think we have a lot more going for us than many give us credit for, not the least of which is our ability to close out the close games and that has been a team effort.
  22. They started doing that this year...letting guys pick it up, run for the TD, and then overturn it. There was some play last year they messed up and it started making them change, because as you said, it is easier to just let it play out. Interesting yesterday they just had to go against that and call him down. They say this on TV all the time but then always harp on how if it's close you stay with the call on the field. If they were letting it play out, huddling and then making the call on the field I guess it's OK but you can't let a maybe fumble be returned for a TD when you think he was down and count on replay to sort it out. It gets messier every year.
  23. Bulaga added to injury report with illness. They haven't ruled him out.
  24. I think now that it's close to happening everyone is starting to expect that a 3rd Niner/Seahawks matchup is destiny after the 2 regular season down to the wire games. But remember how destiny worked out for us in the r-e-l-a-x season and the season the Vikes lost on the last play to get us in. I think we win today.
