  1. If we can win tomorrow the NFC Championship in SF would be pretty cool. We have an interesting playoff history with them now.
  2. Can't bring myself to root for the Vikings but 49'ers looking like they are going to be a very tough out.

  4. I feel like with what we have learned in bits and pieces over the years since then that the real driver of the whole thing was the presence of Rodgers. The Packers were far closer to going with him than any of us would have believed at the time and Favre knew it and also didn't get along with Rodgers, he wasn't staying around to get benched at the first sign of trouble. It wasn't just that Rodgers had passed him, I am sure Rodgers was at the play me or trade me point as well. All that and egos created a mess no one could get out of, especially with Favre wanting to go to the Vikes.

  6. I haven't been paying attention to the injury report until today but Clark sounds pretty iffy to play at all. That would be a huge loss, so much for the bye getting everyone healthy. I am guessing he will give it a try, it's the playoffs, but he sort of disappeared in the middle of the season when hurt. We need that monster we had the last few games, he is the heart of our D.
  7. I think MM may have coasted a bit during his final few years in GB. Secure in his job and making a lot of money. Maybe he just stayed too long but you see players in all sports slack off once they get that big contract and I think the same thing can happen to coaches. I would stay away from him out of fear he is just trying get one last big contract and will be a guy you want to fire in a couple of years but of course I have no idea, maybe the fresh start was all he really needed. I hope he fails miserably there since I hate that team.
  8. Just like rooting for favorable matchups 2007 also cured me of hoping for bad weather in Lambeau. 30 degrees with little wind is just fine with me, better for the fans who go to the game too.
  9. I think the overtime coin toss is the weirdest thing in all of major sports. It's still a huge advantage to win it. I think the college type shootout is the way to go although I did hate it at first.
  10. To be honest I am fine with them not reviewing it since I think that was a dumb rule anyway that hopefully will not be renewed. I would say that was worse than the alleged Drew Pearson push off though.
  11. We couldn't stop the Eagles offense in the loss this year and Wilson has been an interception machine against the Pack at times. I am not rooting for either, will just watch and see where it falls.
  12. That is just insane, I thought it would get overturned as he clearly got position with the push, and they don't look at it? The NFL sure loves controversy.
  13. I think it's a control thing, it's too much for them to be on top of everything but they don't want to cede that call to some clock management specialist. I thought they should have called the timeout on the play before the attempted spike. Still enough time to throw over the middle and run up and spike it if needed.
  14. So much for the big bad Saints. I am not conflicted anymore, I hope they rally.
  15. I grew up on Tombstones and they aren't as good as they used to be, now that you mention it if I was to guess what changed it's that they cut back on the sausage which is the only one I ate as a kid and still usually get. Maybe next time I will get two and move some of the sausage from one and see if it's like old times. In the 80's in Wisconsin I remember Tombstone, Jack's, and Red Baron being the primary bar pizza oven brands. Now there is a whole aisle of them at the store. I am not a fan of Lotza Motza either, too rich for me.
  16. Would you want to stay in New Jersey? Point taken though. I don't think people in WI get to use lines like this. I've vacationed in south Jersey for years and I know you were joking, but that actually does make a bit of sense. It's probably an easier sell than FL/TX/CA guys as the NJ guys are used to cold and snow. It's very densely populated so there is probably just a disproportionate number of athletes. It's just an area the Badger have focused recruiting on going back a couple of decades. They also seem to recruit heavily in the Ft Lauderdale area, they probably have inroads with the high school coaches and like you say it is probably rich in talent so even if you are getting the leftovers from the big programs there are still quality players to be had.
  17. It is an interesting loophole, if you were up by say 2 TD's with 10 minutes left with 4th down at the opponents 40 couldn't you run the clock all the way down to 5 minutes? At worse you force the opponent to burn a timeout. Yeah you give up field position but considering you are probably playing prevent D to make the other team burn clock why not burn it yourself when you have the ball? I guess the refs could just step in and call unsportsmanlike conduct and put an end to it after a couple of penalties. Always happy to see Belichick's shenanigans thrown back in his face.
  18. Frozen pizzas that don't come with those cardboard trays
  19. 11 wins should do it, they are #24 in NET rankings right now despite all the noncon losses so I don't see them as a team that would be left out with a winning big ten record. Not bad considering where I felt a couple of weeks ago. Still sort of disappointing to watch them, Davison is just not the all conference caliber player we all hoped for. Plenty of room for improvement, we have some good talent. I noticed Pritzl got more minutes than Davison and King last night.
  20. Good news. Prior to Berger it looks like the Badgers rank around #30 in the team rankings, isn't that pretty much where they always come in? I don't follow football recruiting as much as basketball as there are so many more players.
  21. I'm definitely rooting for the Vikings. There's no doubt that the Saints are the toughest possible opponent and avoiding them would definitely be a huge break. I'm not sure we would win even at home, they just have so many weapons on offense. I don't think our defense could slow them down much, and our offense simply isn't built to come from behind or win a track meet. Both the Eagles and Seahawks are beatable opponents. If we draw either one at home and can't take care of business that is on us. Yeah but then we are rooting for them again next Saturday to get us a potential home game for the NFCC. Do we really want to have to beat a suddenly red hot Viking team with a presumably healthy Cook for a third time? What if we lost to them? That would be devastating for me
  22. Not sure who I want to win the Saints/Vikings game, removing the Saints from the field seems the obvious choice but ever since 2007 I sort of stopped wishing for the easier opponent to fall our way. Hawks/Eagles seem like a better matchup for us but in the end I am sure I will be rooting for the Saints to extend the Vikings futility.
  23. There are some other safeties on the list likely in before him but at least it shows he may make it eventually as he should. Safety is just a tough position to get in.
  24. Just got home after watching that game in the bar, I wasn't really all that invested going in but man losing like that is a real punch in the gut. Before the Davis fumble we were really getting in the celebrating mode, no shock they scored on the next play at all. Yeah I see Lotti has been brought up but we also missed a FG again. I used to think having good kickers was something the Badgers could get an edge on but I am sure the blue blood programs get all the studs there now as well.
  25. I always think successful Minnesota programs are bad for the Badgers, we recruit more against those guys than OSU/Mich/etc. So no, I root against them too and I am not a bad person.
