  1. He didn't interview last year which I thought meant he knew he wouldn't get the job. He knows a lot of those guys there and they know him. I thought McCarthy said that it would have to be the perfect situation for him to interview last year as he really wanted to take a year off. He interviewed for the Jets job and didn't get it. Considering the Browns job was thought at the time to be the plum job available and all his connections there I think it's likely he was told behind the scenes they weren't interested. With all that came out in the media not surprising if he was a hot potato. Now a year has passed and Dorey is out so who knows.

  3. Just pathetic but we have seen this show before this season. Rodgers is terrible but LaFleur didn't have them ready AGAIN. Hopefully the Lions end up with a bust at pick #5.
  4. Tony Brown released, I never thought much of him but seems like the team liked him. The Patrick contract makes you wonder if they plan on moving Billy Taylor out to RT next year after they lose Bulaga.
  5. Well this seems a lot better, hopefully they can take this momentum into the rest of conference play.
  6. Yeah Bak would certainly be opting out if he had the opportunity and it would be reported pretty widely as he would be one of the top 5 guys available for sure. The Packers would tag him. Now that you mention it I can't think of an NFL player having an opt out clause, it's all about the guaranteed money and why would a team give them the opportunity unless the player gave up some of those guarantees? That 4th year is gold to the Packers value wise.
  7. I was looking at upcoming Packer free agents after reading this and found Bakhtiari supposedly has an opt out clause after this season. I can't pin it down in any contract details I can find so I think it may be some bad info that a few different web sites have picked up, the stories are all from a few months ago in the offseason. "David Bakhtiari is just 27 years old. The four-year, $48 million extension he signed with the Green Bay Packers in the spring of 2016 contains an opt-out clause following the 2019 season." https://clutchpoints.com/packers-news-david-bakhtiari-could-be-in-line-for-major-payday/ Have to think this Rodgers restructure means that they will indeed go all in soon to get another Super Bowl. The quick turn around this season sure makes next year look like a good season to do it, especially with all the players we will have due after next season.
  8. I think the Lions are at pick 3 and can move down as far as 5 with a win and possibly up to 2 with a loss. Those are pretty valuable positions up that high, you know there are guys in the front office who don't want to win this game. But the head coach will be trying for the win if only because he would want another eliminated team giving it's all if his team needed the upset to get in the playoffs. Still, it's tough to get the players to show up on Week 17, no one wants to get hurt and they are all thinking about going home or somewhere on Monday. Stafford, Marvin Jones, and Hockenson all on IR, I don't know enough about their D to say what is left there. Seems like the Packers would have to have like 4 turnovers for this to be a close game.
  9. I can remember the Packers losing twice in week 17 when winning would have gotten them a bye, against the Jets in the Sherman era and a few years ago against the Vikings. In both cases I think the winning team was playing for a playoff birth. It would be a way bigger stunner if the Pack blew this one, Lion players are making offseason plans and I doubt affecting playoff seeding is all that much motivation for them. Just get ahead early and they will lay down.
  10. I thought it was the complete game I have been looking for in this team, I don't know how that game can be seen as anything but a huge boost to our SB chances. Yeah the turnovers and FG's were frustrating in the first half but they wore them down and dominated in the 2nd. If the defense has turned it around like it showed last night we are a threat to beat anyone in the NFC. I was listening to the Paul Allen show on KFAN this morning(can't get enough of Viking fan misery) and he was joking about ZSmith being better than Lawrence Taylor. It was pretty stunning, seemed like most of the sacks came on 3 man rushes that we all hate so much. The Vikings O coordinator was on and said that the Packers took them out of their bootleg game by playing wide with a soft zone, again something that I hate yet they could do wrong last night. Sure Cook was out but we were seeing this defense consistently on it's heels against worse offenses just a few weeks ago.
  11. I was looking at it yesterday and got down to strength of victory tiebreaker, I didn't look it up but I think Saints must beat us there if they lose this week and win next while Packers do the opposite.
  12. Theilen is back. Interesting game tonight, if the Rams win it not only helps us with a potential #1 seed it also puts more pressure on the Vikes who are not in yet, they are notorious chokers. Rams have Cards next week and Bears have always been a thorn in the Vikings side.

  14. I don't even pay attention to it anymore but if you had asked me who I thought would be pro bowlers I would have said Rodgers and ZSmith. In these days of fantasy football driven stats I wouldn't get too hung up on numbers for QB's, Rodgers healthy and on an 11-3 team is a near lock, he is one of the biggest stars in the league and has earned it. ZSmith has been a wrecking ball all season and has the stats, not sure who beat him out but they don't deserve it.
  15. Me too, this game seems like your typical evenly matched 3 point favorite for the home team. That's a weird spread, I guess the betters have been paying attention to the ugly wins and still remember the niner game.
  16. Let's not forget the important stuff, we beat the Bears AND snuffed out what is left of their playoff hopes. It would be more satisfying for me if it was the Vikings but it still feels good.
  17. Robinson on the fumble just stood there watching the Packers recover. I know there's some rule to offense cant fumble recover forward in to endzone. But does that rule apply after the defense takes near full control? T I think the play was essentially over once it was fumbled forward even if they didn't call it on the field. Not sure if you mean what if Tramon had not recovered it but once he had possession it was over.
  18. Yeah well we got a big win, sometimes ugly gets it done in the playoffs. I was pretty relieved they tried the short pass on the last play but it got closer than it should have. You saw how well ugly worked a few weeks ago against a playoff team. Ugly ain't gonna cut it against the 49ers or Saints. When we jumped ahead 21-3, I thought we might finally have that win to feel good about where we're headed. I know it's a division win and those are great and all that, but man. This offense is broken. There just isn't a nice way to say this. I know 11-3 is 11-3, but I can't think of a worse 11-3 Packer team or worse 11-3 team at all, for that matter. I hope that somehow everyone else matches their ugly in the playoffs and they can roll through to the Super Bowl. I just don't think it's going to happen. I don't disagree at all, on top of everything else it's like MM never left. I don't think we stand much of a chance against a good QB but I will always have hope and we have a shot at a bye, it could be a lot worse.
  19. Yeah they just got eliminated in year 2 of his deal and he isn't getting any younger. But everyone knew at the time that Trubisky had to pan out to make it work. I don't feel sorry for them.

  21. You think Trubisky can lead a 95 yard touchdown drive? against our D? Hell yeah
  22. I get the cold weather thing but you have to approach that play as getting the FG attempt no matter what.
  23. Bears still have plenty of time to score twice, defense needs to step up here.
  24. I don't feel like the game is over
