  1. Time to sit Ortiz's rear end on the bench. Major Lg. players just can't make those kind of stupid, high school mistakes.
  2. Just put Turang at #9 and leave him there! It's sickening watching him flail away and whiff wrsp or roll over on a ball. Murphy, it's time to realize Turang is a terrific fielder but a .230's - 240's hitter.
  3. BrewCrew: Are you talking about T. Anderson from LAA? T Stepenson is a catcher for the Reds. Anderson would be a nice fill-in until some of the youger Brewers SPs are ready to go. I'd let the Angels pick from Wilson, Civale, Ross, Ashby or maybe Peguero/Payamps plus throw in Milner. I'd rather just get Pivetta if possible and use Frelick/Lara to get help at 3B (assuming Milwaukee will lose out on Adames and Ortiz goes to SS).
  4. I wonder if the Brewers could make a deal for Josh Smith of Texas. With Jung coming back and Foscue coming up, Smith should be available and fairly cheap. He plays all the infield positions and is having a very nice year for Texas. Not arby eligible until 2026. Get Gio Urshela to replace Bauers. IF by some chance, Hoskins opts out, Walker is a FA and shouldn't break the bank. I think they need to deal for one #3 type SP. With Gasser not available until later, there are too many question marks with Montas, Civale, Woody, Ross, Ashby, and Hall to go into 2025 with what they already have.
  5. The Brewers' two biggest rivals, Cardinals and cubs, clearly improved while Milwaukee went dumpster diving for Montas. After Mears' latest performance, I don't know if he's much help either. I didn't expect Arnold would do much to improve the club by the deadline and he certainly met my expectations. I will say I don't know if any deal the Brewers could have made would have helped their meager chance at making the W.S. (although Paredes's bat would have looked mighty nice in the middle of the Brewers batting order instead of the cubs).
  6. I just don't know if the Brewers would want Lowe with his extensive injury history. Since 2022 he has missed games and on the IL for: back - elbow/triceps - back again - toe - neck - leg - knee - side - oblique - toe again. I don't know if anybody outside the Rays organization knows what's going on with Diaz and his personal problems, or if he'll even play again this year.
  7. The Giants don't have any position player I'd be interested in, especially if it cost the Brewers a prospect. I wouldn't touch Conforto (.226/.298 OBP). He isn't an improvement and very costly. Yaz is slightly better, but not a difference maker by any means. Flores is the worst of the bunch (.595 OPS) and not worth having.
  8. I guess your idea of team friendly and mine differ considerably. Robert would be more than 1/6 of the Brewers' entire payroll. $55M may be friendly to the Dodgers, cubs, Yankees, but not the Brewers with their limited resources. If the Brewers would have signed Ohtani to a $500M contract would that be team friendly since he could get much more on the open market?
  9. I don't see Robert's $55M three year contract as being "team friendly". He does have $2M buyouts after 2025, but the Brewers would be trading far too much to just buy him out. With the injuries he has experienced, I think that kind of money could be better used.
  10. I don't see the Brewers even looking at Alonso. He's making over $20M and is a rental with no hope to re-sign. Plus losing any players just isn't worth it considering they already are paying Hoskins to play 1B and Murphy likes using Contreras and sometimes Yelich as a DH.
  11. The Over/Under on Myers for tonight: 4 IPs /4 hits/2 HRs allowed
  12. Chourio 6 for his last 44 with very nearly 50% K rate. He needs to go down and get his confidence back and relearn the strike zone.
  13. Myers is 25 (RHP). He has really bounced around the minors in his careeer. He was a 6th round draft choice of the Orioles in 2016. Traded to the Rays in 2017. Got to AAA with Tampa and in 2021 trade to the Guardians. Started the 2022 season in the minors with the Guardians and was pretty bad and DFA'd. Giants traded for him in July and then DFA'd him in late July. In August the CWS got him off waivers. They waived him at the end of the 2022 season. In Nov of 2022 he signed a minor lg. contract with Milwaukee. In 2023 with Biloxi he was 10-5 with a 5.03 ERA. Allowed 30 HRs along with 168 K's in 138 IPs... 2024 in Nashville, 14.2 IPs - 19 K's - 1.84 ERA.
  14. Zero chance the Rays trade their future for 1 1/2 years of Williams. They Rays just don't do those types of trades....... J. Vargas is a teenager (lottery ticket) right now. Gelof isn't much either. If the Brewers trade Adames to LA, I'd include Ashby and ask for Hurt, Miguel Vargas, Knack/Vesia. Hurt could go in the rotation right away. Vargas, who is stuck in the Dodgers system, can play 1B, LF, DH, emergency 3B. Knack is a young power arm or Vesia could help the pen....., I don't see the Brewers trading for Lopez and his $65M contract. They could use that money for Woody (if healthy next year). Milwaukee could look to Miami for a cheaper option..... The way Turang is playing why bring in Chisholm at 2B? Scott would help the pen immediately.
  15. I don't see any giving up much of anything for Elder, certainly not Peguaro and a couple of prospects. Elder was horrible after the break last year and awful in his one playoff start. He was terrible this spring too. Either the league caught up with him quickly, or something happened that the Braves can't fix. No matter what, I wouldn't give up much more than a mediocre prospect.
  16. If any of those packages is the best Arnold could do for Burnes, I'd pass and wait for a much better offer. Povich has gotten worse at every level. At AAA he had a 5.36 ERA with severe control issues. He walked almost 6 every 9 IPs. He's an add-on piece at best. Norby is Hiura 2.0. Weak arm and weak glove. Lots of power and lots of whiffs. Where could the Brewers play him? Wagner hit .239 at AA and .252 at AAA with 124 whiffs. Rhodes, Haskin, and Fabian are all outfielders the Brewers don't need. Fabian hit a gigantic .177 with 46% whiff ratio at AA. Rhodes hit .228 at AA. Haskin is 24 and barely played in AA. McDermott could be a legit starting point, but the rest of the package would have to be better.
  17. If the Brewers made this deal what would they do for pitching? Peralta, an aging Miley, Ashby coming off a major injury, and?? What would their ceiling be, 70-72 wins?
  18. Looks like an AAAA swing man to me. Like an Alexander or Rea. Organizational depth and used when there is nobody else.
  19. TRADE: Burnes/Williams/Lara to the Dodgers for Sheehan/Hurt/Stone/V. Gonzalez. TRADE: Houser/Small to the Rays for Harold Ramirez (DH)/Trevor Martin (P) TRADE: Weimer to the Jays for Zulueta (P)/Davis Schneider (3B) C: William Contreras ($0.77M) 1B: Rys Hoskins ($18M) 2B: Tyler Black ($0.77M) 3B: Davis Schneider ($0.77M) SS: Willy Adames ($12.40M) LF: Christian Yelich ($26.00M) CF: Sal Frelick ($0.77M) RF: Tyrone Taylor ($1.70M) DH: Harold Ramirez ($4M) Bench OF: Garrett Mitchell ($0.77M) Utility: Andruw Monasterio ($.77M) Utility: Turang ($0.8M) Backup C: Caratini ($3.5M) SP1: Wade Miley ($9M) SP2: Freddy Peralta ($5.50M) SP3: Sheehan ($.77M) SP4: Gavin Stone ($.77M) SP5: Colin Rea ($3.50M) CL: Abner Uribe ($.77M) RP: Victor Gonzalez ($1.75M) RP: Hoby Milner ($1.70M) RP: Elvis Peguero ($.77M) RP: Joel Payamps ($1.70M) RP: Trevor Megill ($0.77M) RP: Bryse Wilson ($1M) RP: Hurt ($.77M) Payroll is 28.72% under budget
  20. C: William Contreras ($0.77M) 1B: Rys Hoskins ($17M) 2B: Brice Turang ($0.77M) 3B: Andruw Monasterio ($0.77M) SS: Willy Adames ($12.40M) LF: Christian Yelich ($26.00M) CF: Sal Frelick ($0.77M) RF: Tyrone Taylor ($1.70M) Bench OF: Garrett Mitchell ($0.77M) SP1: Corbin Burnes ($15.10M) SP2: Freddy Peralta ($5.50M) SP4: Adrian Houser ($5.60M) SP5: Colin Rea ($3.50M) CL: Devin Williams ($6.50M) RP: Abner Uribe ($0.77M) RP: Hoby Milner ($1.70M) RP: Bryse Wilson ($1.30M) RP: Joel Payamps ($1.70M) RP: Trevor Megill ($0.77M) RP: Elvis Peguero ($0.77M) Payroll is 25.60% under budget
  21. Rather than put any money towards Garver or lose prospects and money for Jimenez, I would like to see the Brewers put any money that would go to them and go all-in on Hoskins. He has a career 920 OPS and .400 OBP against lefties and fills a big need. Let the young OFs play more and use Yelich at least 50% of the time as a DH.
  22. Way too much money for a guy like Garver who has never seen even 320 ABs in a season and is a DH. I would much rather see them put that money into Hoskins.
  23. I would like a trade with the Dodgers (Adames & Burnes) but not for Rushing or Bruns. Trying to make a catcher a 1B now weakens an infield position. Rushing hit .228 and whiffed 31% of the time. He hit some homers, but what is he going to do against better pitching. I'm not a fan of Bruns because of his control issues. I think a far better trade would be Sheehan, Pepiot, and Busch. Two potential starters and Busch could play 1B with his big power bat.
  24. Grissom faied miserably twice at SS for the Braves. That's why they got Arcia. I wouldn't want Arcia back unless he was a throw-in. I'd rather see the young guys play. Lux is coming off a season long injury and is questionable how he will bounce back.
