  1. Ok, much smarter than us a given. But how much a plan can you have when your two closers down just in the last 3 weeks. One last week. Am Curious to see how Counsell handles this pen.
  2. What is this joke, specifically? How he walks around like an old decrepit crippled man around the clubhouse.
  3. Sorry, I mean no offense, but this is exactly the kind of panic mentality that good GMs just don't have. Not only is getting Kimbrel not enough, but we NEED to trade for a reliever from the Giants even if Kimbrel signs because he won't pitch right away? It's April. Actually, it's not even April. We are 1 game into the season. Teams don't operate this way. It's so early, you're still evaluating what you have, who might develop and take the next step, etc. We don't even know how long JJ and Nelson are still out for. We don't even know if Knebel is done. I don't even care if they do trade with the Giants, but you don't NEED to do anything at all when you're 1 game into the season. We don't even know what we have yet. No offense taken. I think if we’re all being brutally honest here, the thought of a non Hader trying to close out a 1 run brewer lead is more than concerning, its scary frightening. Now maybe stearns wants to see who steps up but I doubt it. Hoping he’s working on something to remidy this before some blown leads late. I mean, I dreaded the thought of anyone other than Hader Guerra but now we know how he wants to use Guerra and it’s not to close.
  4. Uhh... blue? No blue.... I know he made the catch and all.... it was a great one in which I jumped around at home for a minute..... but they mentioned this bit about his knees afterward. Were they serious? Is he hurting at all? On one hand, it surely doesn't look like he is in pain based on the catch and celebration, but on the other hand is the comments and Sanford like stuff during past games. That’s the running clubhouse joke.
  5. Need to trade for a closer. Just to protect Counsell from over using Hader and because we need a closer now.
  6. Melancon & 25 mil > Grisham & lottery Montoya & Smith > Ray & Stokes/Grisham & 2 lottery tickets Smith & Watson > Ray & Stokes/Grisham Watson > Stokes/Grisham Smith > Ray
  7. But even if he’s signs tomorrow he won’t pitch for crew til end of April. We need to trade with giants.
  8. Yes it seems that way, maybe it is medicals, but IF he signs pillow deal With whoever it’s gonna suck.
  9. Need to get this Burnes to bullpen stuff out of your head. Besides a performance issue, he ain’t leaving the rotation. I don’t want him to leave rotation cause like you I think he TOR. But relief help needed ASAP.
  10. $$$ and need. I went through teams in kimbrel thread
  11. What if you could get a 30 years old Kimbrel for 1 year THIS year at 18 mil? I'm guessing we'd do it. You still haven't offered anything other than personal speculation that this is an option for us. Heyman a couple weeks ago said Kimbrel in trouble. Every large market team is up against the tax and won’t spend. Cubs Red Sox dodgers > no. Cards no. Nats maybe prob not. Phill’s maybe prob not. Just heard yesterday on mlb radio braves HAVEN’T even made Kimbrel a formal offer. No team has a need like ours that isn’t up against tax. Except the corporately run braves. And it seems there too greedy to spend any more $
  12. If we could get this guy on pillow deal I’d do it. Move Burnes to bullpen for a month or two.
  13. Yes that’s what I think. All the big market teams up against tax and they not gonna spend.
  14. What if you could get a 30 years old Kimbrel for 1 year THIS year at 18 mil?
  15. Have giants pay most of salary, we give em prospect. Watson Smith Id prefer smith but beggers can’t be..... this type of trade would help immediately which is what we need.
  16. 1 dollar more than QO and he signs.
  17. A real reporter should ask Mark A if the brewers budget is potentially hamstringing stearns from getting the pen help this team desperately needs?
  18. Not sure about, Red Sox cubs > zero $ to spend. > no offers. Heard on mlb radio yest braves haven’t even made kimbrel a formal offer. No ones offering him, maybe not even 1 for 20 1 for 18.5 with 2 mil buyout on mutual then Your right with jj, but what if he at 92-93 when he comes back?
  19. The Cubs' situation is pretty rotten right now. That's one. Agree and I hope it gets worse. But I’ll take cichek and strop over ours
  20. You know something we don't about Jeffress? Because all indicates are that he'll be back in two-three weeks. No. But I don’t trust we’ll see the “good” jeffress next month. Like I been saying 84 mph scares me silly. Of course I hope I’m wrong on the jj front. But what’s wrong with covering all your bases? Seems that to be stearns m/o anyhow.
  21. Unlike the other spots you named (LA/ NY), Kimbrel could step in as closer in Milwaukee. Those other spots have established (& pricey) closers in place already. Kimbrel might take a 1 yr pillow deal in that case as he would not need to deal with a QO after the season if he re-enters the market. Serious question: Do the Brewers want to pay a big $ number AND give up even more draft capital (pick and bonus slot money). The impact of more lost draft capital won't be truly felt for a couple more years. A limited farm system not only impacts talent for the Brewers to field but also trade capital to acquire any needed pieces to remain competitive/ in contention. I'm not against or for the signing of Kimbrel. Just trying to examine & evaluate the entire landscape of the issue. Thanks for the input, madthinker88, nice to have a very informed, non biased viewpoint from I think big time Indians fan.
  22. What team has WORSE options?
  23. Honest!! Am I the only one honest enough to say our closing options are the worst in mlb.
  24. Good idea on the trade thought, but WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY A SMALL MARKET ANYMORE!!!! WE ARE ARE NOW MID-MARKET!!! But yeah 20 mil for 3 or 4 years crew not gonna do. But 20 million pillow with mutual 20/2 mil buyout > YES!!
  25. I don't think that's a problem because I doubt the Giants would even consider this if they got a trade they felt was a good value now. Pitchers value can drop in a BIG hurry. I'm sure Corey Knebel and Jeremy Jeffress would have netted the Brewers a top 15 prospect in baseball a week ago. If you're the Giants, why do you want to wait if you plan on trading for young, controllable players anyway in your rebuild process? Maybe Smith gets hurt again as he has been in SF and the younger pitcher struggles to find the zone. Then you have nothing to trade. You see trades all throughout the season. There's no rule that says teams have to wait until the last minute. You just see more teams waiting to seeif they've comeptitive or not. Work out something with the giants NOW please > tonight before this or any team see’s how bad our closing options(outside of Hader) pitch. No panic, just a dose of reality after watching a real game, and like Counsell, dreading the idea of any pen arm outside of Hader closing these games out. Am I the only one honest enough to admit We should be more than just concerned?
