  1. You make a good case here sir, only thing is if both had to settle for those terms I’d sign them both. Then I’d have a super pen and probably a Series.
  2. Wondering the same. Hoping Jimmy’s sore forearm is because of throwing 60 pitches for the first time in 19 months, and that’s why the Brewers said they’re not concerned and expecting him to start again after after a break. Hoping it’s just part of building up arm strength, but we shall see. Assuming he’s OK I’m just wondering if it might be better for Jimmy to pitch out of the pen. Limit his pitches and innings for the year, but also give us another weapon out of the bullpen.
  3. Totally I agree with your take here. In my perfect brewer bullpen world I’d want 3 high quality Multi-inning(2-4)pen arms. Example > Guerra vs dodgers game 4. What a weapon. Protect the pen, hold the enemy at bay, Protect The lead. Maybe that third piece could be Nelson. Or houser, or brown or Webb perdomo Rasmussen whoever steps up.
  4. I’m assuming you mean Kimbrel in this scenario? Well I think stearns has determined that plan A is to try to sign Kimbrel. And the reason is performance based value. I mean who out there can help our pen as much or more than this man? And at what cost? I think the answers are no one and only money. Kimbrel’s talents speak for them self’s and would certainly make up for the loss of Knebel. Other than a 4th round pick we won’t have trade our future farm to get premium talent. As far as the money goes here is where I differ from just about everybody on this board > outbid the CHEAPLY run corporate profit focused Atlanta braves and sign Kimbrel. And I’ll say this for the 15th time > WE HAVE THE $$$$.
  5. The saying you're looking for is "Don't count your chickens until they're hatched." Do you see now it wasn't a given Nelson was going to start Opening Day, pitch better than ever his year, and win the Cy Young? Optimism is great, blind optimism is not. I was referring to stearns rough week. You are referring to my bold predictions on jimmy. Don’t gloat yet, let’s wait til we know what’s wrong with forearm. And let’s not exaggerate what I said, never said Cy Young. Said comeback player of the year. Did say better than ever because that’s what HE said his pitches were. That’s a fact by the way. Start opening day I did say then retracted same day when brewers only pitching him 1 inning in first game action. I also said “as long as he’s healthy” I don’t know how many times. I’m not stupid elbow and shoulder injuries happen with pitchers and I really don’t think anyone expected an ELBOW issue, shoulder maybe. We can revisit this after we have a definitive answer with jimmy if you want.
  6. Not sure if referring to me. All I've said about Nelson is that I believe they'll put him in the rotation when he's ready. I haven't been saying anything with regard to when he'll be ready or if he'll be back to 2017 form. If you are referring to me, I think you got me mixed up with someone else. No sir, true as in Correct. If I refer to you it be TBBC. By the way, great user name > Jealous
  7. Yes, because there has been no pain. At no point has anyone said his elbow was sore. You are just assuming this when it likely isn't true. Read mcCalvys column it’s on mlb.com says Knebel complained of discomfort to brewers
  8. I don’t think final word on Knebel matters much right now, brewers going with assumption no Knebel with regards to Kimbrel in my opinion. I think brewers offer needs to be more than braves to overcome possible old time sake feelings, who knows maybe mad at em for sending him on his way?
  9. 67. 25 games less than reds & pirates
  10. We simply do not know that. They say he has been pitching with this for a while and it probably feels just like it always has. The lowered velocity is where the concern came up, not actual pain. Read in I think McCalvy column his words “no pain” when describing his not throwing to dead arm or whatever.
  11. True with LOTS of BOLD Nelson predictions, but a little early to pass final judgment, Could be minor forearm whatever(eyes roll) but he much more board tenure and probably more liked around here than I. Oh I he
  12. Only quibble Knebel lied when he said no pain otherwise agree, good post
  13. This is rich. So it I don't agree with our "opinion" I'm not a real fan? No not what it means, if you really want to know It’s explained in Kimbrel thread from earlier today.
  14. Interesting take.
  15. Well now if the reports are true let’s see if Mark A puts his foot down Perhaps he'll put his foot down and say "Forget it." I'd like Kimbrel, but not if there's going to be this bidding war crap. Both these teams have had months to throw a contract at him, and he's had months to accept one. If he's going to play the two against each other, I say "Good luck in Atlanta, Craig." Braves even more $ to spend than us, but the media group that owns the team is totally about profit so I doubt there’s a “bidding war” between these two teams. I know what I’d do if I owned the team and was worth 800 mil and I know what bud selig would do with wealth. If the reports are true and it really is between the Brewers and the Braves there’s no way that Kimbrel should be going anywhere but to Milwaukee. Braves > Cheap Brewers > ?
  16. Well now if the reports are true let’s see if Mark A puts his foot down
  17. If you were evaluating this team as though Nelson were going to be part of it, that is your mistake. I wasn't and still am not. Jeffress is on the trail back. If they can't replace 55 innnings of Knebel then they were never as good as you thought they were. Reds are being over hyped and the Cardinals needed to get better just to catch up. That was before we singed Moose and Yas. The Cubs didn't get better. Signing Kimbrel is an overreaction much the same as overreacting to this weeks injures. There will be more. No panic, just of a different opinion than most here on this board, to which my reasoning has been explained, and ignored. But go ahead continue to talk like your the fans of baseballs smallest market. I love the brewers, I love David Stearns, I love what mike Ilitch did,I love Bob Uecker and Merle Harmon, I don’t love baseball owners except bud selig. Because he’s mike Ilitch without the money.
  18. If you were evaluating this team as though Nelson were going to be part of it, that is your mistake. I wasn't and still am not. Jeffress is on the trail back. I’m of the opinion Nelson injury is a surprise to brewers but maybe not. I’m sure taking comfort in the fact that you’ve declared Jeffress on the way back. Just like you doubted Nelson let’s just say I’m doubting jeffress back and IF he’s not I suppose that still won’t change your view will it? It’s your opinion that signing Kimbrell is an overreaction not a fact. I happen to disagree. Just like we disagree on the Cardinals Reds Cubs and Pirates not being better. But ok, I guess you’re right I guess it hasn’t been a tough week for Stearns
  19. Yes maybe it’s reached the extortion point with all the brewer pitching injuries? Maybe it’s stearns saying no deal to multi year? Maybe it’s Mark A saying no?
  20. Huh? Really? No jeffress no Knebel No Nelson AGAIN National League just got way better this off-season National League Central improved just spent $29 million on two one-year contracts for moose and grandal. I call this a pretty tough week for him.
  21. Sorry, but that doesn't make any sense. Does that go for every team or just the Brewers? Because he's going to sign somewhere. With news on Nelson wonder if price just went up further or just more firm?
  22. He didn’t throw for 6 weeks cause of hammy I don't care what he reason was, he wasn't over used is the point. Point is 55 in 25% less time. Not saying he overworked or not.
  23. Why no testing? What’s the downside to an MRI today?
  24. Given that we cannot trust what the team says about injuries anymore, I'll believe Jimmy Nelson will pitch this year when he pitches this year. Soreness in elbow not good especially since the second time this spring he’s had soreness. Last time used excuse of slipping off the mound. Boy oh boy! This year gonna sure see what stearns and co are made of. What’s the saying when the going gets tough the tough get going
  25. He didn’t throw for 6 weeks cause of hammy
