  1. He seemed pretty optimistic when interviewed in the clubhouse after the game. Said it feels better now than it did when he was pulled. Doubt he's in the lineup tomorrow either way, though. I guess at this point I’m just expecting the worst. Sat through marlins game praying only to have myself crushed. Gonna be almost impossible to overcome him and Yelich out (and Moustakas battling issues too). What doesn’t kill you, only makes you stronger.
  2. Last 7 appearances for Peralta: 9.1 IP 6 H 2 BB 19 K’s 1.93 ERA Hits are hits and runs are runs, but kinda looks like the stats of an overwhelmingly dominant pitcher to me.
  3. Sheesh. Peralta gave up 3 runs against the Pirates last time he pitched. Zero earned. Error. Gave up 2 hits, nothing really hit hard. I’ll stand behind my words again, Peralta has been better than fantastic all month. I was in Cincinnati for yesterday’s game and saw peralta throwing some long toss before the game in the outfield, so I don’t think he’s hurt.
  4. I mean yes he is overreacting but the clear mistake was pulling Davies for anyone The last time Davies pitched more than 5 innings was July 18th. Just, following the script. Peralta could have pitched 2 maybe even 3 innings today. Pitching black with a 2-1 lead in the 6th, was not following a script. It was a odd move, especially after what Happened in St. Louis. I mean if we needed to cover 4 innings with no Hader Suter Pomeranz, Davies should have pitched until trouble, the Peralta to finish the save. Peralta’s not been inconsistent, he’s been overwhelmingly dominant.
  5. Cubbies lead 3-1. Top 7, still threatening, runner on 3rd one out.
  6. Scratching my head as to why Peralta hasn’t pitched since last Sunday. Did he pitch in Cincinnati and I just not remember?
  7. Not sure what Counsell doing tonight with these moves. Haven’t seen Peralta since what, forever? Yesterday’s game he goes with D Williams when I would have thought Peralta. Is Peralta not available? Suter? But to take Davies out for Black? Puzzling.
  8. Sounds like some brewer fans in Coors field.
  9. Facts. After reading this post, case closed. For whatever reason, Yelich kept this team from reaching its full potential, especially the bullpen. Should trade him for a few aces. At least now I pushed that trade off until after 21 at the earliest.

  12. I think you have drastically under estimated how much the cubs have already committed for 2020. They have over $150M committed to 14 players and that doesn't include Almora, Contreras (arby1), Baez (arby2 eligible/current salary $5.2M) - Schwarber(arby2 eligible/ current salary $3.4M) and Bryant (arby3 eligible/ current salary $13M). They also have Bach in the minors making $5M. With those guys the cubs payroll will easily be in the $190's. Which is why that have to re-tool. Imo, they have to trade some combination of Rizzo Baez Bryant Schwarber Contreras, for ML ready prospects and do a 1-2 year re-tool.
  13. Agree. All teams should be able to do what they want, without another team saying a word. I don’t get ragging on Madden. The man has class.
  14. Or, Theo & co are gone, and the new GM re-tools. Ricketts is not happy. Epstein has 2 years left and is the highest paid executive in baseball. I don’t think theyd pay him to sit home for 2 years, especially when his team is a major disappointment yet still finishes with a winning record. Theo will do what he does best, sign a bunch of free agents then trade for Corey Kluber or someone of that ilk 242 million spent including taxes for ~ 83 wins with a old pitching staff, ridiculously inconsistent offense, no farm, tons of arby raises and an angry owner, who was made to look like a cheapskate because of theo’s payroll and not wanting to spend more to be taxed. Theo then convincing Ricketts to spend on Kimbrel, imo, is the last straw. I predict he eats the 20 million.

  16. The tribe loss last night hurts. They could be eliminated tonight with a loss and a Rays win. For the first time in 8 games the Nats will have a little competition, so that should be interesting. Go Tribe!
  17. Second year in a row that they’ve given up under Kapler. Unfortunately this was an easy one to predict.
  18. I see this a lot, but it actually has little to do with expanded roster. In fact, he actually crunches playing time. Grandal catching every day, no rest for any of the starters really. Uses the same, top 7 or 8 relievers over and over. Hes not using 35-38 guys, he's using 25. And really, 20 as much as humanly possible. September has been about the 3 pitching acquisitions, Suter and Hiura coming back, and the team as a whole putting their game face on, and that part is definitely due to CC. Nailed it. Agree with every word. Counsell’s supreme confidence is palpable. I do want to say the youngins from their tremendous AAA team also added to this team’s explosive month. Well done. Next year should be more of the same, but hopefully it’s just to win their 117th game.
  19. Yes sir. That’s more than fair > I promise no more until the offseason.
  20. This^^ Brutal honesty gets you a vacation.
  21. Good call! Good post.
  22. 4 headed monster: Pomeranz Peralta Hader Suter Good: Claudio Guerra Jackson Borderline: Black D Williams Albers Mop up: Faria Nelson Instead of using position player: T Williams Burnes
