  1. We all know this team’s built for September, but, I’m liking what I’m seeing now, with the pitching: Rotation is solid, giving this offense and bullpen a chance just about every game to do its job. Offense isn’t as bad with RISP as it’s been virtually all year, and will regress towards the mean, biding well this last 5 weeks. Bullpen is showing signs of the shut down pen this team will have in September. When Nelson Suter Peralta Black are back, joining Hader Pomeranz Claudio Williams Guerra Jackson Jeffress Albers and Lyles for the last 2 weeks > Best pen in the NL, and if this offense can hit like some thought going into the year > this team could do what last year’s team did > 26-10 and still win 90.

  6. Where did you get the stats that Moose was the Brewers' worst hitter w/RISP? Who do you want at 3B that would be better than Moose? Think it was Sveum with that stat a week or two ago. Moose at .198 at that time, followed by Cain and Arcia. Not sure who I’d want. Depends on if going for it next year or not, and payroll. Right now I believe Stearns will go for it, so: Like I’ve said before, I’d trade Cain to free 17 million, if Donaldson can be had for another 1 year at 23, I’d jump at that. Then upgrade SS, put Grisham in CF(I know taking a hit defensively, but offense will more than make up for it, imo)Freitas at C and that’s a strong revamped offense.

  9. I'm not saying Santana is a super overall option, just a better one than Gamel on this particular team. Gamel' bat has not been great, right? Really, Gamel could have been optioned real easily for Grisham, especially if CC would play Hernan in the OF. Gamel is out hitting Grisham and a better OF option. Grisham has to prove he can hit MLB pitching. High ceiling, but he has to prove it. Grisham has to play first to “prove”he can hit mlb pitching. Grisham is a 8000 times better hitter than Gamel, imo, and just needs regular playing time, over an extended period of time, to be a star. Santana is a, in my opinion, a player that is the polar opposite of what should be in the outfield at MKE. Top 500 worst outfielder’s in the HISTORY of baseball, Ks way too much, and to be honest, adjusts his cup constantly to the point of, what’s up with that?. Strange, but true observation. Come on, I’m not the only one that noticed this odd habit.

  12. Even bad teams get hot, and the Brewers are not a bad team. This team is primed to get hot in September, but why wait? This offense is not as bad as I make it out to be, and and has hitters ready to bust loose, now is as good a time as any for that to happen.
  13. Because this is a Brewers optimism thread I won’t comment on your prediction for the Brewers’ finish. But what’s with the love for the Reds? What makes you think that a team that has drifted below.500 all season, is in 8th place in the wild card race and 7.5 games behind WC2 , and has lost 6 of its last 10, is suddenly going to soar to the 86 or more wins that it will likely take to get a wild card spot. To get to 86 wins they have to finish 26-10; I’m not seeing it. Why the reds? 1.) 3 #1’s in what’s by far the best rotation in the central. 2.) very good, very underrated bullpen. 3.) with Aquino the best lineup in the central. 4.) plus run differential, the team has not gotten hot yet. For whatever reason this team has underperformed their talent and run differential > so far > but with Bauer and Aquino on board and the big lefty Garrett back pitching after serving his suspension, this team will finally get hot, and thank goodness, because they will keep the Cubbies from winning the central. Just hoping to win a game(Woodruff?)vs them that last week in cinc.
  14. You said the same thing before the season started. He was going to start opening day, be the ace, his breaking stuff is better then ever. Really is astounding you haven't learned from that, but I guess I've learned there is no middle ground with you. When you play poker, do you either fold immediately or go all in on every hand? Yes I did say that, he couldn’t throw his breaking stuff for strikes the first go round, by the stats the last 5 outings, looks like that’s remedied.
  15. This team is going to go 24-11 to win the central by multiple games. The Reds Cubbies Mets and Nats finish with the same record forcing chaos for the wildcard.
  16. Didn’t see the game, but, assuming he must be getting his breaking pitches over now, which imo, is key to his potential dominance out of the pen. This is big.
  17. Well there’s our “Ace” bullpen arm.
  18. Every single one of those things cost the millions of dollars that you have bemoaned the organization for all year for not sinking into the player payroll. So either you are seeing the light that there is more to a successful organization than spending every available dollar on the on-field product in a given year, or you are backtracking significantly. That’s money already invested from 15-15-17 low payroll/Tremendous profit years, that attanasio referred to when he made his comments regarding putting money aside in rebuild years to be used for payroll in serious contention years. I realize now that savings was invested in non payroll ways, and I’m ok with that, but next re-build the potential hundred million or more in payroll savings should be invested in payroll when as Mark A has already said it would be.
  19. Depending on the call-up’s, this team could put a run together in September. Suter Nelson Black should help the bullpen and of course Woody will help the rotation the last couple weeks. And Lyles to the pen, when Woodruff back.
  20. Maybe, I would argue Hiura would be recognized as a better prospect by every mlb team than Trammell, especially at the time of the trade. I’d have done Turang and Ashby or something comparable to secure Bauer for this August/September and 2020. And I’d trade Cain to even up the salary for next year and would have a legitimate #1 and strong #2 to compete for a title with Yelich next year. And still have ~ 25-40 million to plug holes at SS 3B CF.
  21. Hit and run is dead, just like sac bunts. Analytics show giving up outs on the basepaths is not a good idea. Especially these days when K rates are so high across MLB. So if you don't like CC, you're not going to like any other manager. Just guessing but I'm sure that's not your only beef with CC, probably something about bullpen use. Yet he has the team on the fringe of playoff contention with a -35 run differential. As long as he gets a mulligan from you though, CC will sleep well tonight. Of course his bullpen decisions have not been good, I think most would agree. With the right personnel, it is done, the Braves and pirates as an example. I was bringing it up because, as bad as this team is at getting runners to cross home plate without benefit of the home run, maybe just maybe what have we got to lose by changing things up, like I said maybe mentally it can help the batter? I’d hit and run with Grisham. Maybe the worst RISP batters Moose Cain Arcia, it could help?
  22. Reds only gave up the rental Puig, and Trammell, universally regarded as a top prospect that’s having a bad statistical year, the prospects Cleveland got came from the Padres. Not sure why your using ridiculous financial risk to describe risk averse, but I get it, can’t be stupid about it, and I don’t believe Stearns to be stupid. I do like his draft Philosophy, his investment overseas, especially Latin America, His Advanced bio mechanical center in Maryvale, and his scouting system. So there’s certainly things that I see from Stearns that could be viewed as forward thinking. But as I’ve said already, some of the mistakes with being too left handed and the decisions regarding the roster all year has given me doubt.
  23. I was wrong on Kimbrel. And I agree with most of your take, except for, play it safe because we’re the smallest market. One persons risky move is another persons innovative move. And with our owner, and the apparent fact of a max payroll being below league average for the foreseeable future, risk-averse is actually lowering our odds of a near future title. Dick Williams is my example. Blasted by most at last offseason trade with the dodgers, and this past trade deadline’s Trammell Puig + swap for Bauer. I would argue they now to be the early favorites to win the central next year, if for no other reason than now having 3 #1’s in their rotation with virtually everyone coming back and 50+ million to spend. Not really what I would term risk averse, innovative and forward thinking, what do you think?
  24. Ok, preclude me from OCCASIONALLY making good decisions based on what I see. Fixed it for ya.
  25. Imo, 2019 has been a bad year for Counsell. But he’s done a good job overall prior so, like Stearns a mulligan is in order. One thing I don’t like, and I’m pretty sure it’s the personnel, but, let’s put some runners in motion, hit and run, if nothing else it might just help mentally with the team’s ridiculously bad RISP failure.
