  1. Not sure Attanasio would allow the trade of Yelich. It would be the high water mark, Dodgers would jump I think, 3-4 of their best prospects, padres the same. Hader for sure, get what we can this offseason, 3 top prospects. Re-tool quickly. Build around Woodruff Hiura Grisham Houser.
  2. In my view it was the decision to send Hiura back down the first time. It wasn't so much about the on field production even though we all knew it was a bad move. It was more about what it said about how badly they really wanted to win. It was almost like yeah he should be here but we owe it to these guys over here even though they are terrible. Right at that point I said this team is in trouble and Stearns is not all in on winning this year. He has made no moves that prove otherwise. He has chewed through a huge amount of good will this season with his lack of foresight and productivity. Agree. Super 2 on a player with a 70 hit tool? Sign the guy to a 8 year contract. If it’s not done before next opening day, Stearns needs to go.
  3. Offense is absolutely pathetic. This team never gets any big hits, continually puts too much pressure on a pitching staff that’s CONSTANTLY pitching in high stress situations seemingly EVERY game. How many games has this team scored enough runs to relieve stress on this staff?
  4. What did we expect to happen, worst hitter with RISP. And that’s saying something.
  5. My mistake, your right, they have only ~ 65 million commited, add ~ 18 for Bauer > 83. The rest of their team is pre-Arby with a couple 1st or 2nd year arby’s. Castillo Bauer Mahle Desclafani will be back, a good bullpen, a young dangerous lineup, with 60-80 million to add FA’s, imo, the favorites to win the central, hands down. You don't HAVE to automatically go the extreme on every take you have. Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but like the Reds salary you have just been way off on most of your takes/ predictions. The Reds will be the favorite in the central HANDS DOWN? No....they won't. How about "Reds could be much improved next year, and maybe even challenge for the division." Honestly, just trying to reel you back in a bit from all these over the top takes. Your right, let me rephrase, imo, they are the way too early favorites to win the central, based upon their strong rotation, underrated bullpen, good lineup, good defense and tons of money to spend on improvement.

  7. Great post. Forgot that the local tv deal was up. I’ve been using the extra 9 million from the New National Fox tv deal when est. 2020 payroll at 136. Add on 10 and the brewer payroll should/could go to 146 opening day and the team could make the same profit as 2019. If Attanasio/Stearns really want to win WITH Yelich, that payroll should get Stearns the Ammo to compete for a title next year.
  8. Their offense is a problem, although slightly better since Grisham’s up now. But offense not good especially vs LHP. The perfect storm came together this weekend with the pitching staff > A slumping staff vs a very hot hitting team with a juiced ball in extremely hot humid conditions in a smallish park.
  9. Yes, leveled the playing field somewhat, although the high revenue teams still spend way more on overseas scouting, logistics etc.
  10. Gotta think Pina is also let go this winter. Meanwhile Freitas is hitting almost .400 at AAA. Backup catchers that have a .730 OPS and play + defense aren't all that common. Pina isn't the problem on this team. If Freitas came up and hit .275 I'd be surprised. Saladino tore up AAA as well. Freitas hitting 70-100 points higher than Saladino all year, that’s quite a massive difference. No way they get rid of Pina, he’s a good backup C.
  11. Do you really believe a 31 yr. old, career minor lg. catcher will hit .350 in the big leagues? There is no way Stearns signs a 34 yr. old 3B to a multi-year contract worth $23M plus per year. I think there is a better chance he signs Moustakas to a 3 for $33M type contract and hopes Hiura and Grisham continue to improve and help the offense that way. I totally agree that Iglesias would be a nice addition. Based on his $2.5M salary this year I would hope they could get him for less than $10M. Either way he would help a great deal. I think Stearns will look to spend money on pitching rather than on big contracts for position players. .350 on base. Moose isn’t that good, overrated, imo. Donaldson for 2 years at 40-45 million would be a good deal, short term for a great player. Need to change the offensive dynamic of this team, and these moves do that. Lower K, high on base, good hitting team. Lots of good pitching in this Organization, lots of good potential pen arms.
  12. Black and Williams have the best stuff, K stuff, but he refuses to use them, goes with the same pitchers, blow lead after lead.
  13. Seems like it’s been years since they strung hits together like this.
  14. 7 1/2 week oblique injury. Hoping it’s just to be safe. Should be strong for the playoffs.
  15. You do know how the waiver wire works right? If not, there’s plenty of sites to educate yourself. Yes, I know how it works. But not talking waiver here. At the trade deadline Stearns could of traded for Galvis for Salary. 1.8 mil. This year, with a reasonable club option at 5.5 with 1 mil. Buyout.
  16. Stearns not upgrading SS at the deadline is a mistake, but I find it hard to believe he didn’t want to upgrade by spending 1.8 mil. On Galvis, maybe Attanasio said no. If not then it’s a terrible mistake by Stearns. 25 man roster too left handed hitting dependent. Period. Terrible mistake. This is on Stearns, not Attanasio. Freitas should have been on this roster instead of Perez. To have a player that’s hitting LHP > .530 not hitting LHP for MKE with all the issues this team has vs lefties is terrible. Arcia the SS, plenty of off days, he’s young, play all the games, no problem. Terrible mistake. Barnes T Williams Wilson Petricka was a predictably bad shuttle. I totally bought into the hype surrounding Burnes Peralta Woodruff And Jimmy’s own description of his Breaking stuff being better than ever. And us being given bad information on his surgery, which was described as a tear on the opposite side of the shoulder from a pitcher’s normal labrum injury, and it being potentially less serious. Then in ST Jimmy gets interviewed and describes 4 separate injuries to his shoulder in great detail and at that moment my heart sank. But it was ridiculous to think they would be tor this year anyhow. Maybe I’m being too hard on Stearns, by using the word terrible. Maybe he’s just having a “rough” year.
  17. They may be one of the worst over the last 10 years with RISP. Even last year the Brewers weren't good. Oddly enough 2015 was the last time Milwaukee was above average with RISP. Kinda cool that the stats match the eye test.
  18. I hope your right with your prediction that moose and Grandal will explode, if that’s the case the offense should take off, unless Yelich is hurt. But even then moose and Grandal could make up for Yelich.
  19. Preseason projected wins... BPro: 88 wins Vegas: 86.5 wins 538: 86 wins ZIPS: 85 wins Current Pace: 84 wins OOTP: 83 wins With 40 games to go this team is playing right within the range of its most likely outcomes, hard for me to say that Stearns did a terrible job, especially with a quarter of the season as of yet unplayed. Good point sir. Let me be specific with my terrible assessment of Stearns this year. Roster with too many poor plate discipline hitters with way too high a K rate. Too LH hitting dependent. Terrible pen options especially early in the year. Kept saying early on he thought the pen had the right pitchers they’d just have to pitch better. Burnes Peralta in the rotation to start the year. Trades for Freitas > great great trade, but leaves him in AAA all year, even as the team struggles to hit LHP, even as his average has STEADILY CLIMBED to where it’s at .387. Then doesn’t add upgrade at SS, for small salary only, no prospects given up to improve this teams chance at the central title. I’ll stop there.
  20. 2020 staff imo, doesn’t need many outside additions as some think. With everyone back the staff payroll is at ~ 36.7 million. If the staff payroll can increase by ~ 6.5 mil. Then here’s what I’d do: Trade Hader for prospects > 3 top 100. Let go of Nelson and Guerra and Claudio > save ~ 10 million add on the 6.5 to get 16.5 million to spend on a starter and pen arm. Gio or Lyles would work. Then add a Quality pen arm. Rotation: Woodruff Veteran starter Houser Anderson Davies Suter Peralta Burnes Depth starter signing Supak Brown Bullpen: LHP Jeffress Wahl Black Williams Knebel > 2nd half Andrews Small Trade acquisition Rasmussen 3-5 other arms from below As good as Hader is > reliever, and can be replaced. 3 top 100 prospects will help our farm. Maybe one will be ML ready? That’s a solid rotation with a potentially dominant pen, especially the second half if Knebel can rebound.
