  1. If DJ wants to be a manager, which I’ve read somewhere he does, then we need to make him our new manager or forget him. Sort of agree with your assessment of Stearns, but I’d substitute the word rough with terrible.
  2. Iglesias did state he wanted to return, but the money that he will command I’m not sure the reds can pay. Their payroll right now is 130 million then add Bauer for next year at ~ 20 million and that bumps it up to 150. Not incl some Arby’s ^. That’s why the Galvis move imo, which at 5.5 will still add even more to the 150. If their payroll approaches 160, with their revenue stream 10-15 million LESS than MKE, then WHAT ‘S UP WITH THAT?
  3. Ok, statistically smack dab in the middle, but with Grandal and Moose slumping the last 6+ weeks and Yelich injured/Slumping its way below middle of the pack now.
  4. 2020 salary ‘s (approximation) First the pitching staff: if everyone retained but Gio and Lyles > 36.7 million Lineup & Bench: Grisham > 600,000 Hiura > 600,000 Yelich > 12.5 Shaw > 5 Thames > 7.5 Cain > 16 Pina > 2 Arcia > 3 Braun > 17 Freitas > 600,000 Perez > 3 Gamel > 2 Utility > 600,000 70.4 million + 36.7 million = 107.2 total with zero upgrades to the team. This year’s payroll at 127. If Attanasio decides to keep the profit approximately the same next year the same as this year, with every team in baseball getting an additional 9 million from the National Fox deal with everything else being equal, next year’s payroll could be 136. So that leaves approximately 29 million to spend on upgrades, potentially more if Nelson Perez Shaw let go. If we go for it in 2020, imo, we need to improve this offense more than the pitching staff. So how? Get some better plate approach hitters into this lineup. SS > Iglesias > 10 mil. - 3 mil.(Arcia) = 7 mil. Added. 3B > Donaldson type hitter > 23 mil. - 5 mil.(Shaw) = 18 mil. Added. Bench > 600,000 + 3 mil.(Pérez) save 2.4 mil. That leaves 6.4 million to upgrade the pitching staff. More if Davies traded or Guerra traded or Nelson let go. Lineup: LF > Grisham 2B > Hiura RF > Yelich 1B > Thames 3B > Donaldson C > Freitas CF > Cain SS > Iglesias Bench: Braun Gamel Pina Saladino Spangenberg This lineup is packed with good plate approach hitters and good defenders with the exception of Hiura and Freitas. But they more than make up for below average defense with their offense. Freitas plays the whole year with 350-400 AB’s, imo, he’ll hit .300 .350
  5. Early in the season I got hammered by numerous posters when I said this offense is bad, and would be the undoing of this team. When I made the comment this team when it scores has a hard time “pouring it on”. Then that became the joke catch phrase for months on the IGT’s. Now that 120+ games have past and it’s become apparent to EVERYONE that this offense IS TERRIBLE, outside of being able to hit some homeruns, And since it’s too late to fix this year, the question needs to be asked: what to do about it moving forward? Hitting coach is not gonna change who these hitters are when they get to MKE. Outside of Grisham and to a lesser extent Hiura, this team is packed with poor plate approach hitters. They can’t and won’t be changed, that’s who they are. They were consciously assembled by our architect. Terrible mistake. The Astros of 3-4 years ago had similar issues with Ks and bad ab’s. Luhnow recognized the problem and fixed it, they have gone from high Ks to the lowest almost overnight. We don’t have the overall talent of the 2016 Astros or the payroll. Imo, the pitching next year should be good enough to win, but this offense needs gutted. And since the organization is devoid of position player prospects, outside additions would have to be made. And that would mean a payroll increase that I don’t think would happen with this ownership group. This is why I believe the only answer is the re-tool. To get young, talented hitting talent into this lineup with Grisham and Hiura. Get the payroll way down for a year or two, then way up to win it. Imo, its the only option WITHOUT a 150 million payroll.
  6. My reasoning: Stearns lineup vs LHP is incapable of producing enough runs to win games at this point in the season. I don’t care what the stats are configured to say. Won’t leadoff the one player that has injected life into this moribund lineup > Grisham Grandal not as good right handed hitter as left. Pina > ugh. Cain and Braun better vs LHP, Arcia/Perez > both bad hitters. That leaves Yelich, and for quite awhile now has STUGGLED vs LHP. 6 worse hitters > 2 better > vs LHP. Freitas would help, but even if he hit .200 points less than his .530 vs LHP it’s not gonna be the difference maker. I know Stearns was counting on Aguilar this year but, he’s known for months this team’s massive weakness vs LHP and for whatever reason has refused to make attempts to remedy. Why?
  7. He has had four good outings in a row out of the pen. 12k’s over his last 5 2/3 innings. Maybe he has turned a corner? I’d say so. They can use him with the big club any day now.
  8. Yes, if they want to win next year. Arcia is the worst hitter I’ve ever seen play this many games for the brewers. Bye Bye. Jose Iglesias is the perfect SS for this team. .293 hitter and the best 2 strike hitter in all of baseball with GG caliber defense. Would be a great signing. Stearns could have had Galvis at the deadline for salary. 1.8 million this year with club option 5.5 million and 1 million buyout. It would have been a nice upgrade for the rest of this year, with a fair option on him next year. Really wondering why he’s not here playing SS? Is it the money? He’s definitely an upgrade, but then who wouldn’t be? You keep banging this Galvis drum, but my question is this: Had we claimed him, would it have mattered since the Reds had a higher waiver claim than us? You can cry and whine all you want, but I think the Reds were ahead of us, so we didn't have a shot at him anyway. Unless I am wrong about the waiver order. Cry and whine? Adam gives the correct response. Imo, more people need to “cry and whine” about what’s going on with this team, I can’t wait another 50 years to win the series. I’m dead.
  9. Just because you don’t agree with my opinions doesn’t mean others don’t. Nothing wrong with my OPINIONS stated. Ignore. This clown is done tonight so you can start tomorrow.
  10. Correct. But my question is > is it Stearns or is it Attanasio?
  11. Meanwhile down below Freitas with 2 more hits. .387 .477 Hitting .530 vs LHP. .530!!!!!!!!!!!! This guy’s gotta be wondering what the heck he’s gotta do to get the call? Teammates too! Missions fans, announcers, even the mascot want rid of him!!!! But let’s continue to play Grandal at 1B, he doesn’t need a rest day. Or two or three. Absolutely ridiculous.
  12. Mark A had said from day 1, that they would "find the money" to add at the trade deadline if they needed to. But yes, their payroll HAS to, and NEEDS to and CAN increase. Well your in the minority on the payroll around these parts, that’s for sure. If it’s Stearns that didn’t want to upgrade with added payroll then he needs to go, but I believe it’s Attanasio’s directive. He sure looks happy in the suites looking out at 44,000 on a Tuesday nite.
  13. Attanasio is at fault here too. His 7 million below league ave. Payroll puts restraints on Stearns in what he’s able to do. I find it hard to believe that Stearns didn’t want to at least add payroll(Hold prospects)to improve our chances to win the division. Galvis at SS is one example, 2.8 million cost, no prospects to upgrade. Meanwhile in Cincinnati, Castellini, reds owner trades for Bauer, which cost them 25 mil. Thru next year, but their revenue is 10-20 million LESS(LESS)than MKE. Huh. But Stearns roster all year was just terrible. Decisions bad all year. Not positive who’s more at fault Attanasio or Stearns? Counsell needs to go, or maybe we give him a mulligan for this year? Stearns too? It’s a bad situation to be in when you can’t trust the leadership.
  14. Another loss on Counsell. 9 pitchers in the pen and he brings in Guerra. I know, I know, Guerra has to get the job done that he’s paid to do. Sorry, but it’s too easily predicted, the walk, it’s his recent history. If we can’t put Williams or Black or Jeffress in there, then we need a different leader. That includes the architect. Never thought in February I’d be saying that in August. Both have failed this year.
  15. The Reds have played to about their 90th percentile stats as a team and are going to miss the playoffs by 5+ games. Not giving any sort of award to a team for that. The Bauer trade was probably a big loss for the Reds too. They aren't very likely to compete next year and after that they just threw away a high end prospect for nothing. Underperformed big time this year, maybe some of it their manager, they should be better next year, especially with their owner willing to up their payroll. They might have overpaid for Bauer, but have easily the best rotation in the division with him Castillo Gray Mahle Desclafani.
  16. Now you are just making things up. Nats announcers noticed the same thing I did. Thought they would have sent Braun. %’s made up obviously, so your half right.
  17. Usain Bolt wouldn't have scored on that hit. It was hit too hard and hit right at the LF just not possible to score on that hit. Should of sent him anyhow, the chance of another 2 out hit by this team is slightly higher than zero.
