  1. Head scratcher. Galvis is basically Arcia but almost 30. At least Arcia still has a fighting chance to be good. Because DIFFERENT!!! Because players not playing for the Brewers are automatically better because they are not playing for the Brewers! Just read jim’s 2 posts in the Arcia thread, go ahead and read them if you haven’t already, it puts into perspective how bad of a hitter Arcia’s been, and now that his defense has been lacking, he has to be one of the worst SS in baseball. Now maybe Galvis isn’t the answer, but, to not try to get better at the SS position of this team is ridiculous, imo. It’s not just different. Just like it’s not just different to try to add a potential upgrade offensively at fourth outfielder.
  2. Arcia for Galvis straight up. I’ll give up a couple of extra years of Arcia for 2 years of Galvis. Galvis helps me win now. Would Toronto do it?
  3. I agree with your Supak choice. But I’ve been wrong all year in trying to guess the front office moves. It wouldn’t shock me if it’s Houser or Peralta or even Wilkerson or Smith. Not Pitching Supak could be deadline related.
  4. If possible, I try to trade for Edwin Diaz. Could be the perfect storm, disastrous year, fans booing, GM that probably should go back to being an agent, that might sell low if he can get a package he likes just enough to rid him of people reminding him of how stupid his trade with Dipoto was. Diaz > Supak & Ray & D Williams & Bello Then I trade for Jake Diekman. Diekman > T Williams & Barnes Bullpen: Houser Peralta Nelson Diekman Guerra Jeffress Hader Diaz
  5. It’s not just you specifically, But I don’t understand the Bauer is going to be traded crowd. The Indians are light years better than us. I get that they’re in a crowded AL picture but the twins have a far better chance of folding than succeeding. Madthinker88, massive tribe expert, gave us a understanding of the tribes thinking in the deadline thread. So if he’s right, it’s looking like they’d sell Bauer IF there price is met, hence my comments in my post regarding Bauer.
  6. AAA#’s Salad > .288 .375 Spang > .317 .385 Freitas > .361 .442 Grisham > .353 .426 Didn’t show home runs and ops because of the juiced ball. Huge difference statistically between the 2 sets of players. Grisham and Freitas also don’t K and walk a lot. Freitas had about as many ab’s last year in his mlb trial with Seattle when he hit .221 as Pina has this year hitting under .200. And this is Freitas’s second AAA year in a row raking. He’s obviously found his hitting stroke, aka Max Muncy, and I’m assuming will be our starting catcher next year. Good job unearthing this guy by our GM. Freitas will be 31 next year. How many career minor league catchers in their 30's suddenly do better in the big leagues? Pina
  7. I believe the Diamondbacks to be sellers at the deadline, their GM has to know they have too many weaknesses in their pitching to get to the wild card. With that said: Trade for Zack Greinke AND Robbie Ray. Greinke & Ray > Turang & Lutz & Ashby & Lemons I convince my owner that the time to win is now.The best window we have to win a title is 2019/2020. I tell my owner that I’m going to have to trade Yelich and Hader after 2020 for maximum prospect return. I also tell my owner I can trade Woodruff and a couple others and completely re-tool in 1-2 years, and saving 100 million in payroll. My best opportunity to get the pitching I need to accomplish my goal of said title is to work out a deal for Greinke and Ray, to take on the payroll, to avoid the competition of other teams, especially the high payrolls that can’t go over the tax threshold, so with one deal I can give myself a legitimate chance to win not just now but next year as well. After watching Greinke toy with us last night, is there anyone that out there that doesn’t see him starting game 1 vs whoever’s game 1 starter and us NOT having the advantage? Ray is as a good #3 as there is in baseball, this gives us the advantage vs all teams in the playoffs, except 2 teams, and those teams at worst it would be a wash. With this move, it won’t be hard to add a dominant pen arm, making our pen as good as any in the NL. Then next year I have my rotation: Greinke Woodruff Ray Davies Burnes/Houser/Supak/Peralta Easily the best rotation in brewer history, one of the best in baseball, and certainly good enough to potentially beat the dodgers this year or next.
  8. Even with the injury to Woodruff, the pitching staff is showing signs of improvement moving forward. The bullpen is moving closer to elite status with Houser and Peralta’s confident dominance to go with Hader’s. So we need 4 more quality arms, 2 of which need to be late inning, 8th/9th. Can we get 3 from among Nelson Burnes Jeffress Guerra D Williams? I believe we can. So that leaves Stearns needing to go out and get 1 high leverage pen arm to give us an elite pen. The rotation is short 2 arms? If you believe in Chacín, one. I believe Stearns should add a #2/3 type arm(Ray Stroman) at a min. Personally, I’d like to see Greinke added, but Attanasio might object. Also Bauer, but the tribe could extort to the extreme, and just keep him till the offseason. So we’ll get one of em, and I’d like to see Supak replace Chacin, whose shoes are small enough to fill, imo, quite easily. If Stearns can get 2 pen arms, that would potentially give us the most dominant pen in the NL. And potentially, depending on how Nelson and Burnes do, to have it be strong enough to drop Claudio and Albers and Guerra for the playoffs.
  9. That's a 3-5 weeker. Can make it all the way to August 3 without needing a 5th starter, but with Houser/Peralta really solidifying the pen and Chacin being garbage I don't know how they can go without adding now. Last year Anderson was out 6-7 weeks with his oblique injury.
  10. Why does God hate the Brewers? He doesn’t, everything happens for a reason, we just don’t know the why. Maybe this Gets Stearns to get an ace or #1 type starter at the deadline and Woody comes back and pitches 3-5 innings, twice, in the playoffs like he did last year vs dodgers? Maybe the resting of his arm makes for even stronger Woody in October?
  11. Terrible news, but expected, might be seeing more creative pitching usage, just with Woodruff. He should heal in 6-9 weeks depending on the severity, but the minor league season will be over, no rehab assignments, maybe sim games? Wow. Bullpen? Piggyback like last year vs Dodgers?
  12. How can someone who is viewed by most as a really solid 4th outfielder who can start a few games a week be overrated? No one is aiming he should start every day although it is very likely he would get better if he played more consistently. That is just reality. If you had one out and a runner on third in a tie playoff game-Gamel is literally the perfect player for that. He's a professional hitter and he's great in the field. But hey, let's bring up random guy who's sucked his whole life from Rookie ball because Gamel doesn't swing with his eyes closed like the rest of the team! The option Gamel movement is probably the most ridiculous idea I've seen outside of the talk of trading Yelich/ Woodruff now to maximize return. lol Random guy who’s sucked his whole life from rookie ball? Huh?
  13. But Gamel doesn’t start? I’d rather have the good defensive OFer in Gamel who is doing decent for a 4th OFer who HAS defense. Trent Grisham is nowhere nearly as good defensively and what will it take for him to be more valuable? .780....800 OPS? Pretty lofty expectation you have for a guy with little success at AA and above. I just don’t see Grisham doing better and I don’t think we are desperate to make that move...seems like you are desperate for a change, but that doesn’t seem like the spot warranting it. If you want to throw darts at a dart board try SS. He’s toying with AAA pitching, I believe he’s a left handed Hiura comp. and would succeed immediately in the big leagues. Maybe not a 70 hit tool like Hiura, but a great plate approach, High on base, power hitting bat. With him up, CC might rest the trio a little more for the stretch run and playoffs. But we’ll see if he continues his onslaught.
  14. Sorry lady and gentlemen but Gamel has an option. It’s one of the reasons Stearns traded for him. Don’t assume I don’t like Gamel just because I say the brewers should CONSIDER (consider) the optioning of Gamel IF (if) Grisham CONTINUES(continues) to rake to get the better bat into the lineup. So sometime between August 1 and 31.potentially.
  15. Pretty good considering the pathetic manager not understanding the importance of the game by running out an all time Sunday lineup then having to rely on garbage relievers for multiple innings after our All Star starter left early with an injury. I think you pretty much nailed it ... well, I would have used more emphasis on the horrible decision to start Saladino in LF today, but still, bravo CC grade today > A+ CC grade last 2 mo. > F CC grade first mo.& 1/2 > A+
  16. Because our understanding of rest as a preventative measure has evolved over time. Yes, hello back tightness. If Grisham CONTINUES to rake, the brewers should consider optioning Gamel, rostering Grisham and calling him up, to give more rest to Braun, Cain even Yelich, without losing much if any offense. He’d get plenty of AB’s, and be playoff eligible.
  17. From the Brewers Twitter account... .@B_Woody24 left today’s game with abdominal discomfort Well that's better than possibly twisting his knee while landing, I read the awkward landing thing on CBS rotowire. He was already getting up there on pitches and wasn't doing very well so hopefully just a let's call it day precaution. No, he collided, hard, with Avila at the first base bag. He’s definitely injured.
  18. Actually, surprised Peralta even pitching, with the two innings yesterday. I mean he’s only been a reliever for a short time.
  19. Idiot Dback announcers making lite of the brewer injuries, laughing at Thames, wincing and grimacing. Ridiculous. Thought Brenley was better than that.
  20. Stearns might be selling after this game. Na, we got Aguilar. Wonder who the position player call-up is gonna be?
