  1. It’s not Stearns, it’s attanasio, not wanting the payroll to reach a certain point. The Brewers want us to think we’re still small market, revenue wise, even though we’re closer to the average mid-market than small market. They have haudricourt & most of brewerfan thinking they can only do a payroll of 125-135 million, when in reality with there playoffs last year they could of done much more this year, and more next year and even more the following year. Of course that’s just my opinion, but it’s based on tons of thought and analysis. Now back to the game. You seem to think you are a Harvard grad and the worlds expert on baseball financials. When in reality this entire forums knowledge put together would be about a penny compared to a million dollars. Anyone here can pretend to think they now a sliver about who can afford what and how this effects that...but really we know nothing. If you ever write a paper on all those thoughts and analysis you have done I’d like to see it. Because whatever it is never seems to make it into your posts. And I’m serious...cause it would be interesting if all that analysis on why we can afford tens of million more a year actually exists. Cause no one else on this planet seems to think that way. Cause I don’t understand how an average joe could know so much about financials no one outside an organization knows. I’ve done that many many times, specific revenue’s from the new Fox deal to next year’s new turner/ESPN deal, the crew’s new local tv deal, it goes on and on. If you want to see what I’ve written down go to the how much money do the brewers have to spend thread. Or the brewers all in thread. It’s all there.

I remember a post you made back early this year we’re you said the brewers could do a payroll of 140 million no problem, that it was nothing, and your sick of people thinking that our payroll was so much, what happened?
  3. Yep. No way you outbid that for a reliever. The word that Keuchel is likely going to have to bite on a one year at $18M pro-rated intrigues me more. Still, expensive roll of the dice for a guy who sat out this long. Not gonna happen, we can be intrigued all we want, it should happen if Keuchel wants to come here, but Na, we’re the sisters of the poor. He’s been throwing simulated games of 100 pitches, probably ready with 2 minor league starts.
  4. Right about where I thought. Well worth the money, now they have him for their window, instead of us having him for ours. I Was hoping with everything that’s happened up to this week with the crew, that attanasio would have allowed Stearns or that Stearn’s would have wanted this tremendous closer on our team.

  6. They'll lose a lot of games in the 9th inning if he pitches like he did in the playoffs last year. Don’t count on it.
  7. Houser getting better every appearance. This guys a weapon, hate the way he’s being used. He should be starting or at worst pitching more. Geez, front office & CC need to regroup.
  8. David has already slain Goliath twice, the third time will be the sweetest.
  9. AGAIN > Wilkerson has NEVER started 2 games in a row, so how do we know what he’d do IF FINALLY given 2-3 starts? 6-7 innings is what’s needed OCCASIONALLY from starters other than Davies, and we’re not getting that. That is because of how the team is ran. They simply are too willing to go to the pen early or at first sign of trouble. Yes, your right, but I said occasional, and If the pens been worked a lot, then he’ll let him pitch as long as he’s pitching well.

  11. In that case, proceed Brewers, you are on the right path... But why can't the Brewers win EVERY game... /whine The Brewers are now 15-7 against sub .500 teams. That's in the top 5 for MLB. The other teams with better winning % all have at least 5 losses so I guess that's pretty good evidence that good teams lose sometimes to bad teams... the over-reaction to one loss is really getting pathological around here... I guess it’s easier to be a comedian around here than it is to put some thought into an argument against my post if you disagree. My post had absolutely nothing to do with last nights loss. I think we all know it’s just one game amongst the 162.
  12. Agree, he’s only 22, he’s going to get better with innings and time, but, why spot start and then back to the pen? Why start when can only throw 60 pitches? Why do this to the pen AGAIN? We have good options for 2-3 innings pitchers with Houser Anderson Chacín if they’d pitch them out of the pen, then Peralta Burnes can go below to stretch and mix their pitches until we need them for later in the year. I know this is the pitching thread but that gives us a 12 man staff with Hiura back up in 2 weeks.
  13. With Barnes Williams trades/DFA’d and Sanchez and Perdomo on the 40 they would be the last resort depth pieces, get some new blood, at least have the potential to discover another gem, as opposed to the retread gas can Barnes Williams. The disagreement I have with SOME of this so called depth is: It’s bad depth. Bad pitchers. Their keeping a pitcher that actually can help the pen from being given an opportunity. Last night if Barnes Williams we’re gone, they could have brought up Sanchez Perdomo, at least it wouldn’t have been as predictable with the batting practice served up by Williams Barnes.
  14. peralta is a failed starter, at this time, he is, sorry. Now maybe this time next year different ballgame. How do you all KNOW what kind of a starter Wilkerson would be? Again, when has he been given an opportunity for anything more than a SPOT start? NEVER. It’s time. We all talk around here like we know he’s just AAAA “fodder” when in reality he could be a real pitcher. Albeit one that maxes out at 91, but has a curve, slider, and changes speeds effectively with plus command, leading to potentially LOWER pitch counts.
  15. Yes, I’m sure they do see him as just a depth piece, otherwise he’d be starting this eeek instead of Peratla, but it’s the wrong move. Why start a failed starter when you can start statistically speaking the best starter in the minor-league system, any minor-league system. Wilkerson has NEVER had anything more than a spot start. With Chacín and Gio down it’s the perfect time for a 2-3 start trial. Do we remember his first start with us on the last game of the year vs the cards > no hitter into the eighth. His last 2 were emergency spot starts one of which he flew that night and lost his luggage so he had to borrow someone’s shoes, not exactly what I’d call a real shot. Although he did homer in that game.Peralta again?
  16. The problem is pitch count. His can’t get past 5 innings, plus his stuff, especially his fastball plays better out of the pen.
  17. I am getting frustrated with the pitching decisions this team is making. Why is Peralta starting on Thur/fri? At best a short start, piggyback bullpen game. Why not start Wilkerson, who’s given up only 5 runs starting ALL YEAR? There’s at least a chance to not only get a good start but a deep one as well. I suppose they will potentially call him up to piggyback, but why not just start him instead? Thank goodness I think we’ve seen the last of Williams Barnes. More than a little surprised it’s taken this long to KNOW they shouldn’t be within 1,000 miles of the big league bullpen. Why didn’t Stearn’s trade or DFA them both, I’ll never know. New arms are needed on the 40 man imo. Sanchez Perdomo among others should replace the aforementioned. I also believe they should get by with a 12 man staff when Gio and Chacín are off the IL and Hiura past the super 2. That be 2 weeks. Starters: Woodruff Nelson Gio Davies Wilkerson Bullpen: Anderson Chacín Houser Claudio Jeffress Guerra Hader Peralta Burnes to AAA stretched and starting. I believe Nelson and Wilkerson will pitch deeper and having 3 starter arms can cover more innings, allowing for 3 high leverage arms being enough to close out games. And this should work till the deadline when some of the dead wood on offense should be gone(Thames?Aguilar?Shaw?).
  18. Exactly, Burnes should be closing or down below stretched, working on his pitches. Sorry folks, he’s high leverage or nothing. I’m past the point of knowing if you’re joking, but if he can only perform in high leverage, then he’s not a professional baseball player. He needs to go down and get it figured out. That’s just the way HE is. He obviously has problems with getting his adrenaline going in non high leverage situations, I believe most of us see that, although I’m the only one who says anything about it. There’s been closers that unless there in a high leverage spot they just can’t perform.
  19. I’m psyched beyond comprehension with these 9 picks, I just hope we can sign em all. If so, this could be a draft that helps our next 3 year window big time.
