  1. They were best in baseball RISP until recently. My problem with the offense is with home run or nothing. No moving runners over, runner at 3rd less than 2 out > stranded, etc. can’t win playoff games vs great pitching with the all or nothing offense, just look no further than last year vs the dodgers.
  2. I’ll handicap the Teams: 1.) Braves > 5-2 2.) Cubbies > 3-1 3.) Brewers > 4-1 4.) Twins > 4-1 5.) Red Sox 4-1 6.) the Field > 5-1 If it’s not the crew, I hope it’s an American League Team of course. Fixed, thanks.
  3. That patient, contact oriented offense has scored 55 less runs than our reckless hackers. I'll take the 288 runs over 233 regardless. Yes. No doubt. Pirates devoid of power, less Bell of course. They need a lot our power, we need a little of their contact. Pitching injuries killing them right now though.
  4. Woody’s change up went from average to devastating seemingly overnight. His command of that pitch gets better by the outing.
  5. Maybe just Maybe he’s more than the spot starter, depth piece. In any event he should be given an opportunity to start for the crew. I like the fact he’s a real pitcher, only 91, but plus Breaking pitches and plus control gives him a good chance to be another mike fiers.
  6. Here’s what I’d do: Go with a 12 man staff. Shaw/Peréz/Braun 1B Hiura 2B. Arcia SS. Moose 3B Braun/Gamel. Cain. Yelich Grandal C Aguilar Thames pinch hit
  7. Here’s what I’d do: Call up Wilkerson Nelson to the rotation, Anderson Chacín to the pen, Houser Peralta Burnes to AAA to stretch and start. 12 man staff. Rotation: Woodruff Davies Gio Nelson Wilkerson Wilkerson has nothing left to prove down below, 0.45, and should be given an opportunity to start at the big league level. Nelson has shown down below he can be at a minimum 4/5. Bullpen: Anderson Chacín Claudio Albers Jeffress Guerra Hader All pen arms can pitch multiple innings except Claudio in high leverage.
  8. Think it’s time to give Wilkerson an opportunity at the big league level to start.
  9. Funny. I believe Shaw was told when he went down that he’d be back after a short rehab, and Hiura told that when Shaw done with rehab he’d go back down. So there will be no hard feelings.
  10. Stearns has to see what Shaw can do these next 6-8 weeks before the deadline, to decide how to improve this offense, last year it was Arcia Pena Villar/sogard. This year it’s Shaw Aguilar/Thames. With a little Cain thrown in. Not gonna do anything with Cain but other 3?
  11. Ok, sorry your right i ignored your question. Very high probability that Smoak has been told already he’s being shopped so like almost all rental players that go from horrible teams to good teams should be excited(think moose). Just think Schoop the rare exception. I also think it was a shock to Schoop, maybe it was duquette’s not telling him till the last minute. It was a trade that came out of nowhere. So you think that a guy on the worst team, a team that was nearly 50 games under .500 by the trade deadline, that finished 61 games behind in their division, a team that had just traded their franchise player in Machado....you think he was "shocked" he was potentially going to get traded? Ok, fine. I think it's strains the imagination, but if you believe that, ok. But then why do you assume Smoak has been told he'll likely be traded? And then you further this statement by arguing that this player didn't want to play in Milwaukee, that's why he's bad. Not just that he was surprised, but he actively did not want to play here(then signs with a worse team that plays without a roof FTR) and you assume that Smoak would. These situations are nearly identical, so would the two players have the exact opposite reactions to a potential trade? It's one thing to disagree with people, but you don't need to take speculation, then state it as fact in order to support your argument. Unless you heard something about Schoop not wanting to be in Milwaukee, you're just making that up. But you made that statement. You must not have seen his body language, stupid facial expressions, opinion only, But are you telling me it’s never crossed your mind that he didn’t want to be here. I don’t believe that. Stearns sure said it was a huge mistake! Something there.
  12. The Shaw we need doesn't hit 7 singles 0 XBH to get to .250 BA in AAA. Agree, but this team needs 2018 Travis Shaw. Baby steps.
  13. I get why they would do it if that's what they're doing. That wouldn't stop it from being a bummer, though. Hiura hasn't been perfect, but he has been a shot in the arm for the offense, and one more guy that opposing pitchers have to think about. He's made some rookie mistakes, but that is to be expected. If this does come to fruition, and the next two games are his final two in the majors for awhile, it's been a positive first impression. That's based on the notion of "who else goes?". Which I completely understand since some obvious candidates can't be sent down. But it ignores the more important question which is, why the heck does Shaw need to be brought back up? Winning major league baseball games has no room for doing veterans "courtesies" or "favors". Shaw has done nothing to earn a call-up, much less a swap for Hiura. It’s time to get Shaw back up, he’s healthy now, we have 6 7 8 weeks for him to turn it around, we need to see if he can do it. We need a productive Travis Shaw. I believe when Travis went down, he was told he’d be back after the short rehab. And I also believe Hiura was told after Shaw comes back, he going back down. Hiura will be back, and I believe it will be before August, Stearns is gonna get rid of Aguilar and Thames.
  14. Yes pitching giving up .80 more rpg. But it was much higher than that during the great experiment(Burnes Peralta) in rotation. Since that was scrapped and gio signed, pitching better. Like I said better, NOT GREAT. Wilkerson dominating again in AAA, Smith pitching well, Houser pitching well, there’s more options moving forward besides Nelson. Offense irritating because it’s a mindset to move runners.
  15. Home runs! Home runs! They lead the NL in ^ Like I already said TOO HOME RUN RELIANT. If they no homer they no win And in the playoffs it’s even worse, pitching gets better, homers go down even more. Need to make contact a little more often, move runners, manufacture a run here and there. Runs per game misleading with this home run hitting team. They’re on pace for 270 home runs! They should be averaging 5.6 runs. Last in getting runs in from 3B with less than 2 out. Worst in baseball with the bases loaded. Worst in base ball at moving runners over. That’s the offensive offense that we have, out side of hitting lots of homers.
  16. I don't think the issue is the offense. I think you could visit a board for just about any team and they would complain about offensive consistency. The offense scores enough runs most every night. We just don't have the arm talent to sustain success. Of course it’s the offense, just like it was the offense last year. Home runs or nothing. The story of this team. Another non-massive K hitter or two will change that. Maybe Shaw will mash again. Then it’s just one. Pitching is stronger, not great but good, with the potential to get better. Chacín is the only horrible starter, soon to be replaced by Nelson. Bullpen can hold a lead, and will get better. But a team that can’t move runners, sac fly to get run in from third, that the only way they score is from the home run, will die in the playoffs from good pitching shutting them down again.
  17. Turang looks amazing and it's just so hard for me to fathom that he was in High School last year if you get a chance to watch him. I've seen him a couple times when I've been in Appleton. It'd be shocked if he didn't turn into at least a Brandon Crawford level player and I think he's got a real chance to be a Trea Turner type talent. I'd definitely be targeting him if I was another team and I would have him right up there with Hiura and Burnes as the guys I have as untouchable. Not sure if there would be a 4th player on list of young guys. Rasmussen would be that 4th.
  18. Weird thing to say, considering he may have been our most consistent starter last year. Also, giving up a slow roller after forgetting about the runner is just crummy luck. Last year good, this year not good. Imo, he’s our worst starter this year. Let me put it another way: Next year we should have 6-7 better rotation options than Chacín.
