Yes, there is that chance. Of course it’s early, but the way he’s pitched in his starts, why not? With his stuff it wouldn’t shock me if he continued to pitch well, maybe enough time has past since TJ, and he’s matured as a pitcher. At worst at least he’s stretched to potentially pitch 6.

The Braves probably have the worst local broadcast deal in all of professional sports. Yes that’s correct. But they also had a profit of 100 million last year and 49 million the year before. Because of them being a public Corp they have to reveal more info. Fangraphs has an interesting article on them & baseball owners in general, for those that haven’t read it just google fangraphs Atlanta braves open books.

2018: 58.7% 4 seam 34.2% slider 6.8% curve 0.2% sinker 0.2% change up 2019: 56.9% 4 seam 23.0% slider 9.9% sinker 5.5% curve 4.7% change up Should be in AAA throwing 30% change 30% curve 20% sinker 10% 4-seam 10% slider. And told we don’t care how many hits or runs are givin up.

No ace in Burnes this year No tor in peralta this year Still confident in woody tor Took back Nelson start opening day the same day I said it. So that’s getting a little old and stale. But yeah credibility needs a little building up, maybe Nelson will dominate when he comes back.

I don’t know what I was expecting to see from jeffress, all I can say is wow, mirror image of last April. 93 should be 94, then 95+ by mid May. -
The way Burnes is going (11 Hrs in 17.2 IPs - ERA over 11) it's time for Anderson to start and Burnes to the pen. CC cannot keep running him out there just to give up dingers and put the Crew behind. Today he gave up 9 hits, two more HRs, and 5 runs total in only 3 innings. Maybe even send Burnes down to work on his location and try Houser. No Burnes in pen. He supposedly has 5 pitches. Why hasn’t he thrown them? 4-seam, slider, 2-seam not enough. I’ve seen a handful of curves total in how many starts? I haven’t seen his change-up YET If he doesn’t have enough confidence to throw the curve and Change-up in the big league rotation then he needs to work on them in AAA. At a min he needs the curve but the change can be the ace maker.

Lots of positives to take from this game: Burnes > throw all 5 pitches or learn to throw em in AAA. Wilkerson > potential big league starter, multi inning pen arm, trade candidate. Jeffress > looks like a high leverage pen arm to me.

Looks like first 65 innings of last year jeffress to me. Wasn’t expecting that much movement on FB.

Wilkerson is impressive. Guy knows how to pitch, throws all his pitches for strikes. At worst this guy could be in pen, best maybe give him a shot in rotation.

If Burnes isn’t or can’t throw his curve AND change up, he needs to be in the pen, or In AAA throwing his 5 pitch mix. Things are not gonna get better for him in the rotation until he can mix his pitches in.

Maybe in 2021. Missing that much time, they're going to be VERY careful. How bout August 2019, so he’s eligible for the playoffs.

What a start for Angel Perdomo. 7 innings and yet to give up a hit. Command only issue with 7 BBs, hopefully some improvement there and we’ll have quite a weapon for the crew at some point this year.

If the latest reports are true, 3 @ 45, get it done. Backload if needed. 10-17-18 next year ALL teams getting xtra 9 mil from the new Fox deal, then the following year xtra from new espn & turner deal plus crew getting their NEW local tv increase. Replaces knebel the rest of this year, and next. Fits our window perfectly. Don’t have to overpay with prospects at the trade deadline. The makings of a bullpen that come playoff time could rival last year’s pen.

You have your opinion, I have mine. CC pitched him on the first homestand in a couple high leverage situations , he was hit hard, and since then CC hasn’t pitched him in anything other than mop up situations, where as you say, he has pitched well. I’ve watched Barnes going on 3 years now and the tougher the situation he’s put in the worse he pitches. His command gets worse the more stress he’s under, more so than most pitchers. Stats in low leverage > good. Stats in high leverage > bad. Time will tell on Jackson, it’s early but he’s pitching well in high leverage for the missions. You brought up 2015 and spring training. What you failed to mention, was for the last 3 years in japan he was statistically one of the better relievers. Stearns obviously saw that and signed him. IF he continues to pitch well he’ll be up.

That is 100% my prediction as well. I mean, Wilkerson hasn't been bad, but Houser's been better, and has a lot more upside. Feel bad for Freddy, but excited to see what houser can do.

It would have to be an emergency situation, lack of arms available. In all likelihood he won’t be in this pen past June anyhow, don’t you think?

I don't think he's got any sort of antiquated ranking system. He plays matchups fueled by analytical research. If the numbers show Barnes should be in there to face a particular batter in a given situation, he'll be in there, regardless of if its a leverage situation or not. With Petricka sent packing, Barnes is now the LAST pitcher Counsell will pitch in high leverage situations, just behind jeffress.

I can’t be the only one here that thinks Counsell has Barnes 7 th of 8 pen arms. And will only use him in lowest of leverage situations.

Your Barnes example is the poster boy for stats clouding the real picture of reality. Statistically you rate him as a second or third best reliever, but my eyes and counsell’s eyes certainly don’t agree. There’s a good reason CC has him 7th of 8 in The bullpen pecking order. Barnes pitches well when in the lowest leverage situations like Sunday, CC didn’t have much choice in last nights game. History suggests keeping Barnes far far away from high leverage situations. With Jackson’s success in Japan, to go along with his success right now in AAA, bring him up. Potential upside far greater than Barnes in my opinion. Don’t think CC be disappointed either. Barnes pitched the 8th yesterday. He’s striking out more than a batter per inning and has a WHIP under 1. You can want to dislike him. You can dislike him. But certainly don’t try to begin to push another false narrative that Counsell sees what you see. Just look at Counsell’s use of Barnes, outside of last nights game, when we were running out of arms. Hasn’t put him in any high leverage situation since opening weekend when he was hit hard late in games. CC not fooled by the stats.

It’ll be interesting to see if the crew brings anyone up besides jeffress. I vote drop hart and add Jackson, bring him up, send Barnes and Petricka down.
