  1. Thanks for catching the glitch!
  2. High-A Wisconsin also needs a Sunday victory to salvage a 3-3 series, in their case at home against a tough foe in Great Lakes. RHP Edwin Jimenez (6.00 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, 6.0 K/9 in 21 IP) gets the start. 2B Dylan O’Rae leads the Midwest League with 25 runs scored in 25 games.
  3. They’re out of bodies and won’t push valued prospects they feel aren’t ready. Metzinger and Jose Acosta appear to be the organizational soldiers (rove where and when needed; bench most nights) this year.
  4. After one leadoff man (OF CD Rodriguez) exited early yesterday, another returns from injury today: Eric Brown Jr. AA Biloxi needs a win in Tennessee today to split the series 3-3 and has just the man to lead them: RHP Jacob Misiorowski (3.44 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 13.7 K/9 in 18.1 IP).
  5. Low-A Carolina and Columbia pick up where they left yesterday’s game: Top of 3rd inning, 2-on, 2-out, 1-0 count, Columbia leading 1-0. RHP Yorman Galindez exits, hoping RHP Morris Austin can strand those 2 runners. 1B Tayden Hall has also exited, which may lead to speculation on his status (injury? promotion?).
  6. - 3B Patrick Dorrian placed on AAA Nashville’s 7-day injured list retroactive to May 4 - 3B Ben Metzinger assigned to AAA Nashville from High-A Wisconsin I don’t know who Nashville Manager Rick Sweet offended, but he’s down to 10 position players, including Metzinger and Nick Kahle (nice game DHing yesterday). Tough sledding.
  7. Very sorry about the toe, Joseph! May it heal fully and quickly!
  8. That feels like a growing pain game for Tyler Black which may lead to a little introspection: 2-pitch AB (89mph groundout), 3-pitch AB (85mph fly out), 5-pitch K to leadoff inning, 3-pitch K with tying run on 2nd base and 1 out, 5-pitch K with tying run on 2nd base and 1 out. Gonna have to get better results.
  9. AAA Nashville has dropped 4 straight at home against Norfolk and sends struggling RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez 8.13 ERA in 27.2 IP) out for his 7th appearance (6th start). RF Brewer Hicklen is tied for 2nd in stolen bases (13 in 28 games) in the 20-team International League.
  10. AA Biloxi welcomes LHP Adam Seminaris back to the starting rotation, after he’s been terrific in 5 long relief appearances (1.84 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 10.4 K/9 in 14.2 IP). They’re tied 2-2 in their series at Tennessee. 3B Mike Boeve has a 6-game hitting streak, including 3 straight multi-hit games.
  11. 8 and 9 batters Gery Holguin and Angel Pereira put together back-to-back doubles to cut ACL Brewers’ deficit to 4-2. Eric Prado ultimately went 2.2 IP before handing over to old man (22yo) RHP Samuel Valerio, who was recently signed after being released by the Royals. Valerio went BB, SB, WP, BB, WP, groundout. Thankfully it’s somehow still 4-2. EDIT: they went back and amended the box score. Enniel Cortez threw 2 innings (1 unearned run), then 18-year old RHP Hayden Robinson (14th round pick in 2023) pitched the 3rd inning (1 ER) for his Brewers’ debut.
  12. Low-A Carolina gets a 2nd chance to clinch their home series against Columbia, with impressive RHP Yorman Galindez (2.08 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 16.6 K/9 in 13 IP) getting the start. LF Yhoswar Garcia is 3rd in the Carolina League in SBs (12 in 20 games).
  13. 1B Jesus Chirinos connected on his first homer of 2024, extending Wisconsin’s lead to 5-0 in the 3rd inning. A balk added a 6th run.
  14. Extremely unlikely, except for pitchers recovering from long injury. Expect him back in Biloxi when he’s ready.
  15. After 2 innings from Aneuris Rodriguez (1 earned run), it was 18-year old Eric Prado from Mexico’s turn for his own stateside appearance (2 IP. 1 ER thus far). Filippo Di Turi tripled and scored, while Brock Wilken doubled and was stranded. They trail the Dodgers 4-1.
  16. Enniel Cortez covered 3 innings, conceding one earned run and one unearned run. The ACL Crew are 2-for-2 on SB attempts (by Luiyin Alastre), but 0-for-4 with RISP so trail 2-0. 19-year old RHP Aneuris Rodriguez from the Dominican Republic comes in for his own stateside debut.
  17. Today's two ACL lineups primarily comprise 18- and 19-year olds. Each team has one 20-year old (Ordonez) and one 21-year old (Wilken) in the lineup. Leadoff CF Pedro Ibarguen is the only 17-year old on the field.
  18. This is who our young men in Arizona are facing in the early innings.
  19. Three days after his 18th birthday, Nicaraguan RHP Enniel Cortez (1.58 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 in 45.2 DSL innings last year) gets the Opening Day start for the ACL Brewers, who host the ACL Dodgers. 1 - Pedro Ibarguen - CF* 2 - Brock Wilken - 3B 3 - Eric Bitonti - DH 4 - Filippo Di Turi - SS* 5 - Edgardo Ordonez - C 6 - Luiyin Alastre - 2B* 7 - Antony Gomez - LF* 8 - Gery Holguin - 1B 9 - Angel Pereira - RF X - Enniel Cortez - P* * ACL debut
  20. Predicting the ACL Opening Day starting 10 is not easy. I’d guess ABs will be a priority for SS Di Turi, 3B Bitonti, 1B Barrios, OF Walling, C Ordonez and UTs Ibarguen and Nadal. Throw in rehabbing Wilken as DH, then I think it’s a toss-up between Pereira and Alastre for the final spot. Maybe LHP Bjorn Johnson will get the start. We should know shortly.
  21. The High-A Timber Rattlers have a 1:10pm CST start today, needing a home win over Great Lakes to avoid losing the series. 22-year old RHP Alexander Cornielle (6.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 7.8 K/9 in 17.1 IP) makes his 5th start. 3B Luke Adams easily leads the Midwest League in HBPs (8 in 87 PAs).
  22. Three ex-Brewers appear to have landed jobs in independent ball for 2024: - RHP Nate Grief - traded to Staten Isand - OF Je'Von Ward - signed with Kane County - OF Dillon Thomas - signed with Fargo-Moorhead
  23. No hits for Nashville. No comebacks for any of our squads. Hey, remember the Brewers beat the Cubs.
  24. Jeez. I look at the Sounds’ available bench bats: only Nick Kahle. I look at the Shuckers’ available bench bats: Sparks .136 AVG, Yerzy .179 AVG. Position player depth in AA and AAA is an issue at the moment.
  25. An error on Yonny Hernandez may or may not have contributed to Chad Patrick’s first mistake: a 2-1 change-up that’s hammered for a double. But the error certainly did lead to an unearned run. Norfolk leads Nashville 1-0 going into the bottom of the 4th.
