  1. Transactions: RHP Joel Payamps outrighted to AAA Nashville from MLB Brewers INF/OF Dylan O’Rae transferred to AA Biloxi’s 60-day injured list Game Action: Final: Indianapolis 7, Nashville 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Fall Behind in Series to Indians after 7-1 Loss on Wednesday. Losing the game and Anthony Seigler’s 16-game hitting streak may be minor compared to starting 23-year-old RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez’s early exit after struggling for 2 1/3 innings. Let’s pray it’s nothing serious: Nashville had gotten its leadoff hitter aboard in each of the first 4 innings, but failed to get the clutch hits to push runs across, falling behind 4-0. At least 2B Ray Delgado (2-for-4, RBI) and OF Eddie Rosario (2-for-4, double) had good days at the plate. Sounds’ Extras: RHP Garrett Stallings (1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks) was solid in relief of Rodriguez and RHP Easton McGee struck out the first 3 batters he faced (peak velocity 94mph), before McGee struggled in the 6th inning. LHP Bryan Hudson (1 2/3 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks) was also effective (peak velocity 94.6mph), retiring 5 straight hitters and a bit unlucky that his last hitter (2-out single) scored after his exit. Friday’s outlook: RHP Tobias Myers (2.45 ERA, 1.25 WHIP in 18 1/3 IP) is the scheduled starter, with Nashville needing a road victory to even this week’s series at 2 game apiece. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Game One Final: Rocket City 2, Biloxi 1 Box Score and Game Log Game Two Final: Rocket City 4, Biloxi 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Wood Records First Double-A Homer, Shuckers Swept in Doubleheader After starting RHP Brett Wichrowski (4 1/3 IP, 0 R, 4 Ks) weathered an early storm (3 H, 2 BB, 1 HBP in first 2 scoreless frames), Biloxi’s suddenly struggling offense nearly pulled off a 1-0 opening game victory behind C Matt Wood’s first AA hit: An error on 3B Brock Wilken to start the 6th inning opened the door to Rocket City, who delivered an RBI single and nearly-caught double to snatch the lead and victory. The run conversion challenge continued in Game 2, as the Shuckers put the leadoff batter on base in the first 3 innings. LHP Nate Peterson (4 IP, 1 R, 3 Ks) kept the club in the game, but RHP Stiven Cruz only retired 2 of 7 batters faced, as a 1-0 deficit ballooned to 4-0 in the fifth inning. Shuckers’ Extras: As positives, OF Garrett Spain homered and had an outfield assist, C Darrien Miller doubled and caught a base stealer. OF Luis Lara also singled and stole his 19th consecutive base without being caught. RHP Tyler Bryant (1 1/3 IP, 0 R, 1 K) is now unscored upon in his last 10 2/3 innings. Friday’s outlook: LHP Tate Kuehner (2.93 ERA, 1.30 WHIP in 43 IP) will try to stem the bleeding as Biloxi finds itself in a 3-0 series deficit on the road. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Peoria 10, Wisconsin 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Chiefs Put Out Wisconsin’s Fire with a 7-Run Surge Despite the defeat, the Wisconsin media team has put together an excellent package of video highlights from the game (which is also posted within the linked game report above): And we’re also thankful for the 18-minute Mehring/Lobner post-game podcast, featuring C Marco Dinges, Manager Victor Estevez and some players with comments on the upcoming NCAA baseball tournament. The linked game report is packed with game and player details, including how the drawn-in infield was a contributing factor (though understandable strategy) to Peoria’s 7-run sixth inning. Starting RHP Tyson Hardin (4 IP, 1 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 5 Ks) and RHP Zach Peek (1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks) were effective once again, while SS Jadher Areinamo (2-for-4, double) was his usual exceptional self defensively as I’m sure you’ve seen on the highlight video. Timber Rattlers’ Extras: RHP Yerlin Rodriguez needs to corral his control issues of the moment: 1 BB, 1 HBP, 3 WPs, 2 R, 1 H in one inning of work. 20-year old RHP Bishop Letson hasn’t pitched in a game since May 8th, but is listed as the expected starter for Saturday evening’s contest. Friday’s outlook: RHP Tanner Gillis (1.83 ERA, 1.27 WHIP in 39 1/3 IP with Carolina and Wisconsin this year) gets the start, with the Timber Rattlers aiming to grab a 3-1 home series advantage. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Carolina 10, Salem 4 Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Big Inning Lifts Mudcats Past Red Sox DH Jesus Made (3-for-4, 3 RBIs, 3 SBs) was the spark plug, walking and stealing his 19th base in the 1st inning (stranded), then singling to start the 8-run rally in the 3rd frame. A rare difficult inning from 19-year old starting RHP Bryce Meccage (3 1/3 IP, 3 R, 2 Ks) saw 3 second inning runs come across on 3 hits and a walk, but the big Carolina 3rd inning set things straight. 2B Luis Lameda’s 2-out, bases clearing triple gave the Mudcats the lead at 5-3 before Made followed with this in-the-park homer a few batters later. The ‘pen of RHPs Dikember Sanchez, Jesus Flores and Garrett Hodges allowed only 1 run in 5 2/3 innings, with Flores (4 IP, 1 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 Ks) eating important innings to preserve arms. Mudcats’ Extras: SS Luis Pena had a boom-bust game, with a 2-run homer, single, stolen base and 3 Ks. OF Tyler Rodriguez keeps finding ways to get on base (.436 OBP, despite a .214 AVG and .250 SLG) - 3 walks in this game. After a 5-game hitting streak, 1B Eric Bitonti may want to forget this game: 0-for-5, 4 Ks. Friday’s outlook: 20-year old LHP Wande Torres (7.36 ERA, 1.64 WHIP in 22 IP) is the scheduled starter, with Carolina seeking to grab a 3-1 home series lead. Final: ACL Brewers 10, ACL Padres 1 Box Score and Game Log The Arizona Crew (15-5) blew this home contest open with a 6-run third inning punctuated by a DH Jeferson Quero 2-run double and OF Jadyn Fielder RBI triple, while the staff dominated with 14 strikeouts. 6’4” 18-year old RHP Tyler Renz got the start and tossed 4 scoreless innings without yielding a walk (3 H, 4 Ks – 60 pitches; 2.37 season ERA), followed by 5’9” 19-year old RHP Wenderlyn King’s second straight terrific outing of 2025: 4 1/3 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 9 Ks in 66 pitches; 2.45 season ERA. Quero had opened the scoring with a 1st inning solo homer on a 3-for-5, 3 RBI day for him. Every offensive player reached base via walk or hit as the team out-hit the Padres 11 to 7. 3B Jorge Quintana and 1B Frederi Montero (2 RBIs) each collected 2 singles, while 2B Roderick Flores reached base 3 times (1-for-1, 2 walks, sac fly). DH Tyler Black (1-for-3, walk) also continues to rehab with the squad. The victory pushes the ACL Brewers to a 3-game lead in the central division. They’re to return to at the ACL Rangers at 8:00pm CST on Friday. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Friday, the Mudcats get a busy baseball evening started at 5:30pm CST, with the Milwaukee Brewers also commencing their series in Philadelphia at 5:45pm CST. Nashville, Biloxi and Wisconsin have start times between 6:05pm and 6:40pm. 2. Hmmm. A leadoff walk (Luke Adams) in the 1st inning and leadoff double (Darrien Miller) in the 2nd inning have yielded no runs for Biloxi. Still trailing 1-0.
  3. Rocket City's first 3 hitters reached against Nate Peterson (including an RBI single), but they thankfully ran themselves out of the inning: sac bunt, force out at home, picked off. Biloxi trails 1-0 as they head to the 2nd inning.
  4. Looks like the scorer just changed it to an inside-the-park home run, though that's certainly not how I was taught to score in elementary school.
  5. Carolina turned that 3-0 deficit around in lovely fashion with an 8-run 3rd inning, highlighted by a 3-run, 2-out triple by Luis Lameda and 3-run little league homer (single + errors) by Jesus Made. Yay!
  6. Unfortunately, Carlos F. Rodriguez can't seem to locate tonight: 3 walks, 2 HBP, 4 hits (3 for extra bases). Nashville trails 4-0 in the 3rd inning. The Sounds also wasted a game-opening triple by Jimmy Herron. After that last CF-Rod walk, we've got the ominous "Injury Delay" and he has exited after 2.1 IP (63 pitches, 31 strikes). Shoot.
  7. RHP Joel Payamps outrighted to AAA Nashville from MLB Brewers INF/OF Dylan O'Rae transferred to AA Biloxi's 60-day injured list from the 7-day injured list
  8. LHP Nate Peterson (3.18 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 9.2 K/9 in 28.1 IP) makes his 4th start (10 appearance) for Biloxi in Game 2 of today’s doubleheader at Rocket City. C Darrien Miller and 2B Jheremy Vargas replace Wood and Boeve from the earlier contest.
  9. Rare bad start for Bryce Meccage, who’s yielded 3 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks thru 2 innings thus far. Pena, Bitonti and Payne each K’d swinging in the 1st inning, so everyone’s going to need to wake up quickly to get back into this one.
  10. Jeez - Luis Lara thought he’d caught the tough fly ball which scored those 2 runs for Rocket City. Tough loss.
  11. Rocket City eventually broke through against Biloxi in the bottom of the 6th inning for 2 runs off Bo Bowman (1 earned), so the Shuckers fell 2-1. That makes this play to end the top of the 4th inning all the more painful.
  12. RHP Tyson Hardin (1.21 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 in 44.2 IP) is one of the Midwest League’s top pitchers and he seeks to lead High-A Wisconsin to a 3rd straight home victory over Peoria. 1B Blake Burke is 3rd in the league in hits (50).
  13. 19-year old RHP Bryce Meccage (1.61 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, 10.1 K/9 in 22.1 IP) is ready for his 8th start, as Low-A Carolina strives to take a 2-1 home series lead against Salem. 3B Filippo Di Turi is 2nd in the Carolina League in RBIs (31).
  14. Matt Wood has his first AA hit, a homer to the opposite field to give Biloxi a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Brett Wichrowski is playing with fire, stranding 5 baserunners over the first 2 frames.
  15. Anthony Seigler is carrying a 16-game hitting streak and makes his 2nd start at third base, as AAA Nashville seeks a 2-1 series lead in Indianapolis. RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez (1.99 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 in 45.1 IP) is back after 3.1 innings in MLB last week.
  16. It’s doubleheader day in Rocket City, with AA Biloxi trailing 1-0 in the series. RHP Brett Wichrowski (3.21 ERA, 12 Ks in 14 IP) starts the first game of the day. 1B Luke Adams has a 22-game on-base streak and 5 HBPs in his last 5 games.
  17. AA Biloxi commence their series at Angels’ affiliate Rocket City tonight, with RHP Alexander Cornielle (1.93 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 8.4 K/9 in 37.1 IP) on the mound tonight.
  18. 3B Luis Pena (.905 OPS, 21 SBs in 115 PAs) returns to the Low-A Carolina lineup after a 10-day absence, as they host Red Sox affiliate Salem this week. The teams commence the series with a doubleheader, with RHP Jack Hostetler (6.30 ERA, 10 Ks in 10 IP) getting the Game 1 start.
  19. Rehabbing Brandon Woodruff gets this afternoon’s start, as Wisconsin hosts Peoria and aims for a 2-0 series lead. CF Eduardo Garcia has an .855 OPS in 100 May PAs, with 5 homers.
  20. Rehabbing LHP Jose Quintana (last pitched May 9) gets the start as High-A Wisconsin kicks off their home series against Cardinals’ affiliate Peoria. CF Eduardo Garcia and RF Hedbert Perez’s hitting streaks are 9 and 8 games, respectively.
  21. - RHPs Nick Merkel and Chase Costello placed on AA Biloxi’s 7-day injured list
  22. - RHP Ryan Middendorf transferred to Development List by AAA Nashville
  23. Patrick just started his 6th game in 26 days (4 days' rest for each of last 5 starts). Do we think this is the optimal approach with him - traditional rest, short starts, don't face lineup 3 times? Or, once Quintana and Woodruff are back, should Patrick go 6 innings and face a lineup a 3rd time by giving him more rest between starts?
  24. RHP Jacob Misiorowski (1.55 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 10.8 K/9 in 52.1 IP) gets a special Memorial Day start to kick off AAA Nashville’s series at Pirates’ affiliate Indianapolis. C Jorge Alfaro leads the team in homers (9), RBIs (26) and runs (26), but also bears a 6 BB / 63 K ratio in 170 PAs.
  25. It’s fine, since Hall appeared even more ready than Ashby. This helps us survive the next 3 days before the off-day on the 29th. I’ll just keep regretting the choice to activate limited inning Civale instead of selecting Misiorowski, since I think that choice has contributed to overall pitching fatigue and lack of MLB energy/resilience.
