Even with Carolina's rainout in Zebulon, this was an extremely busy day on the farm, including Ernesto Martinez Jr.'s return from injury, Eduardo Garcia continuing to mash for High-A Wisconsin and young Nicolas Barrios smacking a grand slam down in the Dominican Republic. Transactions: RHP Tanner Shears released by High-A Wisconsin. Shears was one of the top relief pitchers in the organization in 2023 (1.45 ERA, 77 Ks in 49 2/3 IP), but missed the 2024 season with an injury and heads out after just 7 appearances in 2025. We hope he’s fully recovered and wish him success in his next opportunity. Game Action: Final: Gwinnett 4, Nashville 3 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Tobias Myers Tosses Quality Start in Sounds Loss It was peaches and cream from pre-game until the 4th inning, with 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. a welcome sight on the lineup card (first game since May 28) and 3B Anthony Seigler (3-for-5, double, SB) sparking a 2-run first inning, before doubling and scoring in the 3rd inning for a 3-0 advantage. One 3-batter blip cost starting RHP Tobias Myers (6 IP, 3 R, 5 H, 0 BB, 9 Ks in 95 pitches, hitting a peak velocity of 97mph on his final pitch), as he: Retired 9 of the first 10 batters (1 single) to start the game Conceded a 96.6mph line drive single, 96.2mph ground ball single and 98.2mph, 394-foot 3-run homer to start the top of the 4th inning. These batters principally faced off-speed pitches, so expect Myers to mix it up more going forward. Retired 9 of the next 10 batters (1 single) he faced to exit with the game tied 3-3. After 2B Ray Delgado’s (2-for-4) two-out single in the 6th inning, neither team got a runner aboard until old friend Carlos D. Rodriguez’s strikeout-wild pitch put him on base against RHP Elvis Peguero (3 Ks in 0.2 IP – takes the loss) to start the 9th inning, later scoring on a 2-out single. Sounds’ Extras: Delgado singled with 1-out in the bottom of the 9th, but recently-red hot OF Jimmy Herron (pop out) and Seigler (fly out) weren’t able to bring him home. Kudos to RHPs Easton McGee and Elvin Rodriguez for retiring all 6 batters faced in the 7th and 8th innings. C Jeferson Quero had a 1-for-3 day with a walk and an RBI, but will likely rue the 9th inning (couldn’t corral the wild pitch or gun down stealing CD Rodriguez). Martinez went 0-for-3 with a sac fly in his return, but will also wish he’d done more with the bases loaded in the 5th inning (K’d swinging in a 9-pitch at-bat). That said, his defense remains impeccable. Friday’s outlook: RHP Logan Henderson (2.00 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 12.2 K/9 in 54 MLB/AAA IP) makes his second start since being optioned to Nashville, with the team needing a win to even the series 2-2. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 13, Montgomery 5 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Warren's Record-Tying Homer Lifts Shuckers to 13-5 Win The first hit of the game was an inning-opening triple by Montgomery in the top of the 3rd inning, but LHP Tate Kuehner (5 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 5 Ks) got help from 1B Zavier Warren to double off that baserunner and give Biloxi critical momentum. The first 6 Sounds reached base in the bottom half of that 6-run third inning, with 3B Luke Adams (2-for-3, HR, double, 2 walks, 2 RBIs) and OF Luis Lara (2-for-4, double, walk, RBI) opening the scoring. Biloxi led 8-2 by the 6th inning, then drew 4 consecutive walks before a pitching change. Warren (1-for-5, 4 RBIs) took the 2nd pitch thrown by reliever Dan Hammer deep for a grand slam to tie the Shuckers’ career home run record. Shuckers’ Extras: OF Garrett Spain joined Warren in the 4-RBI club with a 2-for-5 evening, including a double. All 9 Shuckers reached base via hit or walk in a fun game for the team and 3,174 home fans. SS Cooper Pratt reached 3 times: 1-for-3, 2 walks. LHP Mark Manfredi continued his recent run of dominance (0 ER in 12 2/3 IP with 17 Ks) with 1 2/3 scoreless innings, while RHP Zach Peek (1 1/3 IP, 2 R, 1 K) made his first appearance since being promoted from Wisconsin. Friday’s outlook: RHP KC Hunt (4.61 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 9.2 K/9 in 41 IP) gets the chance to help Biloxi extend its home series lead to 3 games to 1. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Cedar Rapids 10, Wisconsin 6 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Rattlers Fall Behind Early, Can’t Make Up the Deficit Thanks again to the fabulous Wisconsin media team for compiling video highlights of this high-scoring affair: And we’re also blessed to have a 14:30-minute Mehring/Lobner post-game podcast, featuring Manager Victor Estevez. Cedar Rapids apparently wasn’t intimidated by RHP Tyson Hardin’s (4 IP, 7 R (6 ER), 10 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 4 Ks) pre-game statistical prowess, putting the first 3 batters on base against the starting pitcher who ranked 2nd in the Midwest League in ERA and K/BB ratio entering the contest. A passed ball, rare 2B Daniel Guilarte error and OF Eduardo Garcia missed fly ball (over the shoulder as seen in the video, ruled a hit) didn’t help the situation in that initial 4-run inning, but credit the Kernels for continuing to hit Hardin hard and extend their lead to 7-2 by the 5th frame. The back-to-back doubles from Garcia (2-for-4, HR, double, walk, RBI) and 1B Blake Burke (3-for-5, double, 2 RBIs) put Wisconsin right back into the game in the bottom of the 4th inning, with SS Jadher Areinamo (sac fly) and DH Tayden Hall (pop out) both coming up as potential game-tying runs. Timber Rattlers’ Extras: Although RHP Yerlin Rodriguez struggled (2 2/3 IP, 3 R, 1 K), RHP Aaron Rund was fantastic: 2 1/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 Ks. The Timber Rattlers 1-thru-5 batters combined on a 12-for-21 day with 3 walks and 3 RBIs, while the 6-thru-9 hitters went 1-for-17 with 1 walk and 2 RBIs. 13 hits and 10 runners left on base is nothing to sneeze at, as Wisconsin’s offense certainly gave Cedar Rapids a continuous scare, putting runners on base every single inning. Friday’s outlook: 22-year old RHP Jaron DeBerry (3.60 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, 11.4 K/9 in 15 IP) is scheduled to make his 3rd High-A start, with Wisconsin needing a home victory to even the series 2-2. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Rain Out: Charleston at Carolina Via the Mudcats’ website, rainout details: Mudcats and Charleston Postponed Thursday Friday’s outlook: Expect RHP Bryce Meccage (2.45 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 9.5 K/9 in 25 2/3 IP) and LHP Wande Torres (6.67 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, 8.3 K/9 in 27 IP) to start the two, 7-inning doubleheader games on Friday, with the squads presently tied 1-1 in this week’s series. Final: ACL White Sox 5, ACL Brewers 3 Box Score and Game Log 6’4”, 18-year old starting RHP Tyler Renz (6 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks) was terrific and deserved the win, shutting down the Sox apart from a 2-out RBI single in the first inning. After squandering a few opportunities, the Zona Crew tied it in the 4th inning when OF Handelfry Encarnacion doubled and his replacement pinch runner (after a dreaded injury delay) scored on a ground out. In the penultimate inning, SS Jorge Quintana (2-for-4) singled and scored on a 1B Frederi Montero sac fly for a deserved 2-1 lead. Unfortunately, everything derailed when RHP Jose Nova (1 IP, 4 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 Ks) came in for the 7th inning save situation, with a 1-out, 2-run triple doing most of the damage and the team falling into a 5-2 hole. Credit the Crew with battling in the final frame behind OF Pedro Ibarguen (single), Quintana (double) and Montero (RBI single), but a K looking ended it with the potential game-tying runners on base. 3B Kevin Ereu (.098 season AVG) was up in some rather big spots: 2nd & 3rd, 1-out in the 2nd: K swinging Runner on third, 2 outs in the 4th: K looking Bases juiced, 1-out in the 6th: K swinging Friday’s outlook: The ACL Brewers (17-8) try to get back to their winning ways at the ACL Guardians (15-11). Final: DSL Brewers Blue 6, DSL Padres Gold 1 Box Score and Game Log Our Blue squad converted their chances, including pushing 5 two-out runs across in the 5th inning to push their advantage to a comfortable 6-0. Starting 17-year old RHP Carlos Galindo (4 IP, 4 H, 0 BB, 2 Ks) and RHP Lukas Gonzalez (3 1/3 IP, 1 H, 4 BB, 1 HBP, 6 Ks) faced consistent traffic, but shut out Padres Gold across a combined 7 1/3 effective innings. Eight Brewers produced their 9 hits, including 1B/OF Jefer Lista’s 2-for-4 day and doubles for OF Angel Gonzalez (sparked 3rd inning -> first run of game) and 3B Joan Gutierrez (sparked 5th inning -> 5 runs). OF Frandy Lafond went 1-for-3, but exited after 5 innings. RHP Justin Lugo allowed a late double, 2 walks and an unearned run, but registered 3 Ks in 1 2/3 IP. Final: DSL Brewers Gold 9, DSL Orioles Orange 6 (in 6 1/3 innings) Box Score and Game Log 17-year old OF Nicolas Barrios (2-for-3, 4 RBIs, SB) served notice as the Gold squad ran Orioles Orange ragged (7-for-7 on SB attempts) before Barrios’ 5th inning grand slam turned a 6-5 deficit into a 9-6 win. DH Romano Donato (1-for-3, walk, RBI, SB) doubled in a run to tie the game 1-1 in the 2nd inning, then scored on a double steal for a 2-1 advantage. Walks, a bunt, error and an everybody-safe-fielders-choice dogged starting 18-year old RHP Jose Arias (3 1/3 IP, 5 R (3 ER), 3 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 1 WP, 2 Ks) in a 4-run third inning, but 1B Jonathan Rangel’s 2-out, 2-run double narrowed the gap to 5-4. Rangel was 1-for-1 with 3 walks. After allowing a run in the top of the 4th, Barrios singled and scored on an error to make it a 6-5 game, then came through with the big blast an inning later. Inclement weather obviously cut the game short, as RHP Carlos Canales (2 1/3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 0 Ks) was just starting his 3rd inning of work. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Friday, a season-high 8(!) Minor League games are on tap, starting with the DSL clubs at 10:00am CST. Carolina’s doubleheader commences at 4:00pm CST, while the Milwaukee Brewers host the Padres at 7:10pm. AA Biloxi’s LHP Tate Kuehner has been fabulous over his last 4 starts (0.82 ERA, 25 Ks in 22 IP) and he’ll strive to lead them to a 2-1 home series lead over 2nd place Montgomery. CF Luis Lara, the 2nd youngest position player in the Southern League, leads the team in hits (49), doubles (12) and stolen bases (19).
-
RHP Tobias Myers (5 IP, 3 R, 2 Ks last outing) makes his 3rd start since being optioned to Nashville, who’s aiming to extend their home series lead to 3-0 over Gwinnett. 3B Anthony Seigler has a whopping 1.206 OPS during his 28-game on-base streak (117 PAs). Remember - this year is Seigler’s first taste of AAA ball.

1B Luke Adams (.830 OPS vs. league average .653) returns atop the AA Biloxi lineup after missing 3 games, as they seek to grab a 2-0 home series lead over Montgomery. RHP Brett Wichrowski (2.45 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 7.9 K/9 in 18.1 IP) makes his 6th start, hoping to get through 5 innings for the first time this year.

High-A Wisconsin has scratched and clawed their way back to a 25-26 record, so shoots for .500 tonight as they host Twins’ affiliate Cedar Rapids. RHP Ryan Birchard needs to shake off a frustrating last relief appearance (1.2 IP, 6 R, 1 K). CF Eduardo Garcia leads the team in runs, doubles, homers, RBIs and SLG.

I’m not sure how useful lineups are after-the-fact, but here’s the relatively experienced DSL Brewers Blue squad which wiped the floor with DSL Rojos (Reds) in 7 innings at home: 1 - Brailyn Antunez (17 - Venezuela) - CF - 2025 signee 2 - Carlos Done (18 - D.R.) - RF - 2024 signee debuting today 3 - Leonard Rijo (17 - D.R.) - SS - 2025 signee 4 - Jefer Lista (17 - Venezuela) - 1B - 2025 signee 5 - Frandy Lafond (18 - D.R.) - LF - 2024 signee (.836 OPS) 6 - Yoneiker Lugo (18 - Venezuela) - C - 2024 signee (.779 OPS) 7 - Moises Polanco (18 - Venezuela) - 3B - 2024 signee (.779 OPS) 8 - Jhoanjel Saez (18 - Venezuela) - 2B - 2024 signee (.704 OPS) 9 - Kegnnalex Seijas (19 - Venezuela) - DH - mid-2023 signee (.555 OPS in 36 PAs) X - Ayendy Bravo (18 - D.R.) - RHP - 2024 signee (2.38 ERA) And here’s the lineup for the younger DSL Brewers Gold squad which was essentially one key play short of grabbing a win in 9 innings at DSL Orioles Black: 1 - Kenny Fenelon (17 - D.R.) - CF - 2025 signee 2 - Cristopher Acosta (17 - D.R.) - 2025 signee 3 - Isais Chavez (17 - Venezuela) - C - 2025 signee 4 - Eryks Rivero (17 - Venezuela) - DH - 2025 signee 5 - Juan Martinez (18 - Venezuela) - 3B - 2024 signee (.700 OPS) 6 - Francis Sosa (17 - D.R.) - RF - 2025 signee 7 - Matthew Moses (17 - Venezuela) - 1B - 2025 signee 8 - Nicolas Barrios (17 - Venezuela) - LF - 2025 signee 9 - Cristian Montilla (17 - Venezuela) - 2B - 2025 signee X - Gabriel Colmenarez (19 - Venezuela) - RHP - 2023 signee (3.19 ERA)

Maybe not, since he doesn’t play as much shortstop or walk as much. But Pena’s got the edge in hitting for average and stealing bases. Hopefully he can keep doing enough to force the team to give him time at shortstop,

For the week, Wisconsin (5-1) and Carolina (4-1) were series winners, while Nashville (2-4) and Biloxi (2-4) ended up on the short end. Transactions: There were a whopping 32 moves involving Dominican Summer League players in advance of their season commencing on Monday, June 2. Of particular note are the roster placements of OF Kenny Fenelon and SS Cristopher Acosta (both on DSL Brewers Gold), plus OF Brailyn Antunez (DSL Brewers Blue) Game Action: Final: Nashville 11, Indianapolis 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Clarke's Multi-HR Game Propels Sounds in Series Finale 23-year old starting RHP Logan Henderson’s first outing since his latest Major League stint ended on May 25 was a relatively short one, delivering a solid 3 innings: 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 4 Ks in 57 pitches (40 strikes). I’d venture to guess the early exit was planned, as none of the 5 subsequent Nashville relievers had pitched since Thursday. 1B Wes Clarke (3-for-4, 2 HRs) drove in runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 7th innings in his best day of 2025 thus far: You’ll find more highlights of Clarke, 2B Ray Delgado (2-for-5, 2 RBIs, SB) and C Jorge Alfaro (1-for-4, double, walk, 2 RBIs) at the Sounds’ Twitter/X feed. Sounds’ Extras: Three relievers on the Brewers’ 40-man MLB roster saw action: RHP Easton McGee (2 IP, 0 R, 1 K; 94.8mph peak), LHP Bryan Hudson (1 IP, 0 R, 0 Ks; 91.6mph peak), RHP Elvis Peguero (1 IP, 1 R, 1 K; 97.6mph peak). If Christian Yelich’s hand injury were serious, DH/OF Eddie Rosario (2-for-5, double; 7-game hitting streak) and 3B Anthony Seigler (1-for-4, walk, RBI, SB; hit safely in 19 of last 20 games) may have been candidates for a call-up. Eight Sounds’ contributed their 15 hits, but SS Oliver Dunn (0-for-6, 4 Ks) will have to find other days to make his mark at the plate. At least OF Jimmy Herron is pulling himself out of his early season funk (3-for-5, walk, SB). Next week’s outlook: Nashville comes back home to battle Braves’ affiliate Gwinnett for 6 games, commencing on Tuesday. Rehabbing Brandon Woodruff is the expected starter for Tuesday’s series opener. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 5, Rocket City 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Crow's Dominant Return to Toyota Field Leads Shuckers to 5-1 Win Starting RHP Coleman Crow delivered a phenomenal performance on the road (5 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 9 Ks) even as he’s still building up innings after a long injury layoff. His 73 pitches marked a season high, which he achieved while striking out the final 4 batters he faced. Verified Member @wiguy94 summarized Crow’s dominance in the Minor League Forum: 73 pitches, 51 strikes, 15 called strikes, 14 whiffs, 38.9% whiff rate, 20.5% called strike rate, 19.2% swinging strike rate. After struggling for runs all week and seeing their first 7 hitters go down in order in this contest, #8 and #9 batters OF Bladimir Restituyo and 2B Jheremy Vargas (3-for-4) sparked the offense via a one-out single and double in the 3rd inning, setting the stage for DH Mike Boeve and SS Cooper Pratt to push 4 runs across: Shuckers’ Extras: LHP Mark Manfredi (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 K) RHP Will Childers (1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K) continued Crow’s theme of pounding the zone, throwing 32 of 45 pitches for strikes. 1B/3B Luke Adams was absent from the Sunday lineup after being a late scratch on Saturday. Hopefully we’ll see him back in action next week. Every Biloxi offensive player reached base via hit or walk, though I’m sure that 3B Brock Wilken would love to have collected a hit (now 2 for his last 34 at-bats). OF Luis Lara was caught stealing for the first time in 2025, after 19 consecutive thefts. Next week’s outlook: First place Biloxi comes back home for a massive 6-game set against second place Montgomery (the Rays’ AA affiliate). 23-year old RHP Alexander Cornielle (2.30 ERA, 41 Ks in 43 IP) is likely to start the opening game on Tuesday. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Wisconsin 8, Peoria 6 Box Score and Game Log Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, game details: Rattlers Rally Past Peoria for 8-6 Win Wisconsin’s media team did a great job putting together video highlights of the exciting comeback victory: And we’re also thankful for the 26-minute Mehring/Lobner post-game podcast, featuring LHP Jesus Broca, SS Daniel Guilarte and Manager Victor Estevez. Despite trailing 4-2 and being out-hit 10-2 by the middle of the 5th inning, Wisconsin hung tough, with OF Luiyin Alastre (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), 3B Juan Baez (3-for-5, RBI) and SS Eduardo Garcia (2-for-4, RBI) combining on a 7-for-13 afternoon to lead the comeback. Starting LHP Anthony Flores had thrown 57 pitches on Tuesday, but the team needed him to give what he could to help save arms for next week: 4 IP, 4 R, 9 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks – in 77 pitches (53 strikes). Timber Rattlers’ Extras: It was nice to hear LHP Jesus Broca on the podcast, as he came through in a big way to bridge the middle innings: 3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks in 41 pitches. Handed an 8-4 lead after SS Daniel Guilarte’s 2-run homer in the 7th inning (Guilarte was 14-for-120 with 2 doubles and 12 singles before that blast), RHPs Yerlin Rodriguez and Aaron Rund closed it out in somewhat rough fashion: combined 2 IP, 2 R, 1 H, 3 BB, 1 WP, 1 K. Chris Mehring and Kyle Lobner highlighted that this was super SS/2B Jadher Areinamo’s first rest day of 2025 and also listed out expected starters for next week, but we didn’t hear when we might expect to see RHP Bishop Letson (last pitched May 8) back on the mound. Next week’s outlook: Wisconsin extends its homestand and will host Twins’ affiliate Cedar Rapids for six games, with RHP Ryan Birchard (4.66 ERA, 43 Ks in 36 2/3 IP) scheduled to start the opening game on Tuesday. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Carolina 4, Salem 2 Box Score and Game Log Via the Mudcats’ website, game details: Longball Propels Mudcats to Sunday Victory 1B Eric Bitonti’s second straight 2-homer game powered the Carolina offense and suddenly puts him atop the team’s leaderboard with 7 dingers on the season. 22-year old starting RHP Chandler Welch stacked a 2nd decent start, though he exited relatively early leading 2-1 after 4 innings and 56 pitches (30 strikes): 1 R. 1 H, 2 BB, 5 Ks. LHP Sam Garcia (3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 5 Ks) did well to work around a sixth inning 1-out double (K, BB, groundout) with the game still tight at 2-1. The two teams combined on 9 hits, 6 of which were solo homers. The Mudcats’ only non-homer hit was SS Luis Pena’s 6th inning single, after C Yannic Walther and Bitonti had both gone yard earlier in the frame. For Walther, that’s his first homer since June 2023 in the Dominican Summer League, though he does only have 204 career at-bats. Mudcats’ Extras: LHP Anfernny Reyes’ first 3-up, 3-down inning since April 27 had to feel nice in the 8th inning. RHP Jack Seppings made the home crowd a bit nervous by loading the bases in the 9th (single, 2 walks). A called strike 3 gave Seppings his 2nd K of the inning and 4th save of 2025. Excluding the homer trio, the rest of the team was 0-for-19 with a walk, and even that walk (OF Reece Walling - Carolina League leader in that category) was eliminated via a caught stealing. Next week’s outlook: Carolina gets to stay home, this time hosting Rays’ affiliate Charleston for 6 games. The pitching staff is suddenly looking quite fresh, thanks to Saturday's rainout. We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Monday, the Dominican Summer League commences with DSL Brewers Gold playing at DSL Orioles Black, while DSL Brewers Blue hosts DSL Rojos (Reds) – both games start at 10:00am CST. The Milwaukee Brewers also play in Cincinnati at 6:10pm CST, while the 16-5 ACL Brewers host the 13-8 ACL Mariners at 8:00pm CST.
