  1. Riske business!!! Good ol' Brewers...even they can make an 8-0 lead going into the 8th inning an "interesting" game to watch. Come on Torres...put us on your back yet again, man!
  2. I wouldn't boo a player like Mota who is obviously trying hard but just struggling to produce. The players that irk me (and obviously thousands of others) are the ones that demand to be traded and the ones that leave Milwaukee for big contracts after saying they'd like to stay.
  3. So obsessed...you're insinuating that the Brewer fans should be cheering a guy hitting .190 vs. RHP and just above the mendoza line total after he cowardly has his agent request a trade out of town? What's your logic? Cheer for him loudly like he's playing well and didn't speak out about his deserved reduced role? Doesn't make any sense to me.
  4. Good for the fans booing Hall. It's about showing players that there's no "I" in TEAM and to keep their mouths shut...especially the overpaid, underachieving, big mouth ones like Bill Hall.
  5. Don't get me wrong, I can come up with several arguments for Ned's dismissal as well. I believe he has been given ample time with this organization to take this team to the next level. I just find it interestingly ironic that blame is on the manager's shoulders for every loss. The guy isn't perfect by any means, but he certainly isn't as braindead as some people try to make him out to be as manager.
  6. Being manager of an underachieving team is a thankless job. The games the Brewers win, people are satisfied but do not praise Yost for anything he does RIGHT. But the games we lose because of misplayed flyballs and inability to string together two hits in a row make him look like an absolute dumbo. As soon as Gallardo went down, this season turned into an uphill battle to be able to string together winning streaks and play above .500 baseball. Taking a #2 pitcher out of the rotation and expecting this team to compete for the division against the Cubs is a big task that any manager would find an extreme challenge.
  7. When will some of the talk shift off of Ned and onto Melvin a little bit? He's the one bringing in the likes of Tavarez, Gagne, Mota, Cameron, etc. this season. A few good trades and signings from years back are saving him, in my mind, from fan's criticism now.
  8. Does anyone know how old Witrado is? I've wondered that since the video blogs this spring training...
  9. I think the Bucks problem is Michael Redd. He thinks he is a superstar and even though he is paid like one, his 1 all-star game appearance doesn't reflect his ego. He seems like a really nice guy, but his play and attitude do not reflect his personality. He obviously doesn't want to share the limelight with Bogut and he and Mo Williams seem like they're vying for shots between the two of them to get their numbers. Beyond back contracts in Simmons, Gadzuric, Bell, etc., selfishness is killing this team and it needs to be addressed...NOW! http://mrbrewtown.blogspot.com/
  10. So how many more years can we expect to see Prince in a Brewers uniform?
  11. When did he do this? From Jsonline... With a $3.2 million salary next year at the end of a three-year deal, Turnbow isn't going anywhere unless he is traded. He admitted the idea has crossed his mind to ask to be moved to another club but hasn't decided if he'll do so. "I haven't gone to them and talked about it," he said. "I can't say I won't. (The booing) wears you down." If he's being this honest and open with the media, you know he will at least bring up the topic with management. Why even say this if you're planning to come back?
  12. I wasn't impressed enough with Linebrink to think of making him our closer. If he's going to ask for big money, let him walk. Turnbow has asked to be traded and doesn't seem to realize he's being booed because he's stinking up the joint. That almost 5 ERA doesn't yell out "cheer for me!!," I'm sorry. I say give Cordero a very respectable offer. If he really likes Milwaukee as much as he says, he might take a fair offer from us. McClung has as straight of a fastball as I've ever seen and wasn't very impressed with him. Wise is a goner, losing all of his confidence. And if Spurling is back, I'm going to have a bout of depression to overcome. Get some fresh blood in there!!!
  13. Just goes to show you how clueless Ned really is. I don't think it's cluelessness on Ned's part. You very rarely ever hear him call out players, even when they're performing badly. He gives the media the ol' "hang with 'em" line. In Yost's mind, he probably doesn't see any point in calling out Estrada for his lack of throwing runners out because what will that really do to help the situation?? It's not going to all of a sudden give Estrada a rocket arm and awesome accuracy. It is what it is. If the Brewers are unhappy with Estrada both offensively and defensively, you'll know where they stand when he IS or IS NOT on next year's roster.
  14. Ask Walt Jocketty if he'd have liked to have Suppan on his team this year.
  15. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here, but I am wondering what the board's thoughts are with respect to a few key positions in question for '08. Backend of bullpen: Cordero/Turnbow -- Turnbow has been the definition of inconsistenty this year. He looks dominating or horrible. There's usually no middle ground with this guy and I'm wondering if he's in the future plans. Cordero will be in for a big payday. I do not know if the blowup of our bullpen in the last few weeks will increase the Brewers eventual offer for Coco but you sure would need to find a capable closer if we want to back up what most of us feel is going to be an ever improving, young group of players. Catcher: Estrada/Miller -- Estrada is arbitration-eligible next season and Miller's deal is up. In the beginning of the season, I defended Estrada's bat but his approach at the plate has become quite frustrating to watch and he surely is made a mockery of behind the plate. The guy simply cannot throw out baserunners and it really does make an impact on games if you watch closely enough. I, for one, would explore trade possibilities with this position. Miller wouldn't be a bad re-up if the price was right. Left Field: Jenkins/Mench -- Will the Brewers pick up fan favorite Geoff Jenkins' $8 million option? That is the question of the off-season. I would prefer to move on should another player thru trade or free agency become available. What I wouldn't necessarily mind considering is Tony Gwynn, Jr. full-time in CF and moving Bill Hall to LF. Imagine a LF/CF/RF -- 1B/2B/SS/3B of all Brewers' drafted players. We could use Jenkins' $8 mill on Cordero instead and if TGJ is a total flop, we have Gabe Gross and Nix there as reinforcements. I wonder if the overall sentiments of brewerfan.net are similar to mine. I'd like to hear people's thoughts/insights of what they would envision or like to see for '08 at these spots. 16. I don't see why we can't post anything negative when nothing positive is happening. Yeah...because you're only a dedicated fan if you never say anything negative about the Brewers. That guy's post is a joke.
  17. Can't Jenkins BUNT?!?! Terrible. I saw that one coming even before he stepped into the batter's box. Does Yost want to win games or not?
  18. We need to add starting pitching a heck of a lot more than the Cubs do.
  19. Apparently Sheets had some blister problems today. Sheets JSonline Blisters Of course he did. Just our luck. Unreal.
  20. Does anyone know where I can find tape of this chewing out by Prince?
  21. I might consider Miguel Cabrera for Braun. Miguel Cabrera is still young and has proven he can put up the big numbers over a few year's duration. He's never had a Prince Fielder protecting him in the lineup so on a team like the Brewers, his numbers could be even better. Plus, I like the fact he's shown the ability to play multiple positions which increases his value to a ball club. You may not like the deal but I certainly think you can't laugh it off either. I'm not advocating it by any means, but I thought it was certainly a viable offer.
  22. I'm very impressed by the organization's decision to demote Rickie Weeks. This tells me the Brewers only care about winning. To run a player like Rickie Weeks with his paltry batting average out there when you're in the thick of a pennant race would be flat out irresponsible. Let's face it: Weeks is hitting .212 and was just 7-for-46 last month, and he hasn't homered since April. I'm sorry, but that doesn't scream out starting 2B on a playoff team to me. I appreciate as a fan, a team playing players who produce, not just those you "hope" will produce. They hit Weeks 1st, 8th and a few spots in between this year with the same result each time: Failure. Hats off to the Brewers brass on this one...they got it right!
  23. Please, include Weeks in the deal before Villanueva or Parra. Overrated 2B are easier to replace than quality, young pitching.
  24. Ok, I was wrong. Cubs will be in first by Monday, not Sunday. I apologize for the slight inaccuracy.
