  1. We've got some guys that do this...I gotta admit I kinda like the superstition, although I prefer when they just walk on or off.
  2. Pretty sad/funny series of events there
  3. I really like these Mets' TV guys.
  4. Getting a little chippy in here
  5. Now that I will agree with. It doesn't bother me too much, because they paid to get in there, and again - it's a sporting event - so obnoxious fans come with the territory. Fans at Miller Park do seem to boo at weird and stupid times though. Oh well... The only thing I can think of is the franchise has been so mediocre to downright pitiful for so long that now that they've been respectable the last couple years a lot of these casual fans think they deserve to see a win and lash out when they don't.
  6. I agree that the fans have every right to boo; I hope you can respect my opinion that most people look like petulant children when they do. I'm a fan, not a cheerleader, but I don't see the ultimate benefit of riding your team--a generally good team--for mistakes, most of which will happen on occasion. I know, I know--you boo to let them know bad play is "not acceptable." I'm sure they weren't aware of that before some drunk from Waukesha started bellowing at them.
  7. I don't think booing doesn't make one a "true fan" or whatever, but I watch a lot of ball on EI and the MP crowd boos well out of proportion (yes, I know this can't be proved)...there's something wrong there. Where were these people when the 2002 team, a team that deserved a healthy serving of boos, were stinking up the joint? Not at MP, presumably.
  8. Golly, I'll bet they just cringed after being informed of their improper behavior by you. Yeah, I just usually pass quiet judgment on boo-birds.
  9. This kind of qualifying is unfair to not just Bush but any pitcher...they're all major league teams and games the Brewers needed to play and win. I don't think anyone is (was?) expecting to see him start any playoff ("Playoffs?!?) games.
  10. I'm laughing here (always like a good "killer instinct" reference) but they have not looked good in big head-to-heads against the cream of the NL (or AL!), outside of that St. Louis series in July. Or against the D-backs, I suppose. I guess my theory has a ton of wholes, who'da thunk it!
  11. Yeah! Screw you, Dave! How dare you go 7-2 with a 2.73 ERA, a sub-1.00 WHIP, and a .600 OPS against in the last 2.5 months! Last night I was arguing with people because I thought Rickie did more good than harm in last night's particualr game, but his general performance colored people's reactions and he was the goat regardless Today I feel the same: it's the IGT, so despite Bush's recent great play, I'm kinda chapped at him for tossing those meatballs up there.
  12. Oh boy, maybe this will end up being a 18-14 disaster Our pen has really been worked this series; Bush needs to keep it under control for a few more. Either that or keep him in all day and just let him take his licks, Greg Maddux style.
  13. Fixed it for you, uff da I'm actually home from work today but watching this game makes me want to head into the office
  14. This team cannot play "big games" They'll wilt like lettuce if they're put under pressure down the stretch OK, maybe that's more of a vent thread post, but oh man, oh man...
  15. I'm still not sure how that makes it acceptable. Are all stupid mistakes okay, if you can't prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that cost the team a run or the game? It's not acceptable, but neither can it locked down as a "mistake that [was] responsible for the loss."
  16. Making up strawman quotes that don't represent what anybody actually thinks. A true sign of desperation for somebody who doesn't have much to fall back on while debating.Says the guy who uses name-calling of players as a primary posting tool. Three of the first five posts at the end of the game directly invoked Weeks, and I'm willing to bet they would likely have regardless of whether it had been him or Ray Durham striking out. This after a page and half moan-fest about the guy earlier on. Prince didn't get the dogpile. Braunie didn't get the dogpile. Corey didn't get the dogpile. Manny didn't get the dogpile. I know Weeks hasn't done much to earn the benefit of the doubt around here, but people were way too eager to jump on his back and not give him the credit he was due tonight. Maybe he was 10% of the reason they lost; he was 20% of the reason they were even in it.
  17. Well, now these losses really bug me. The Cubs won't have another 4-game losing streak again this season, methinks.
  18. There was one mistake that was partially--partially--responsible for the loss, and that was the error. There's no guarantee anyone would've drove him in had he made second. I mean, the error doesn't take those runs off the board, either. If it did, or lax baserunning did, the Brewers lose in regulation. Oh, I give up: you guys are right, it's all that stupid idiot turd Rickie Weeks' fault the Brewers lost tonight. Oooooh I hate him! I hate him I hate him I hate him!!!!
  19. Jeez, the Cubs are even less effective than the Brewers with RISP these extras Pretty entertaining game
  20. Do you think he's the sole reason the Brew Crew lost tonight? Do you think he's the primary reason we lost tonight? Do you not think his bat tonight was a big reason the Brewers were even in it? There's a big difference with getting upset and being disappointed with his general play and putting the albatross around his neck for tonight's--tonight's--loss.
  21. If he had struck out instead people would be complaining that he went 3 for 6. He scored two runs. And if Sal doesn't let David Murphy get the hit then Weeks error is meaningless, if we want to play ifs and buts.
