  1. I like May and feel he can definitely help us in the playoffs, his stuff is superb. But this is to big of a price for rentals, especially May who hasnt had an era under 4 since 2023. Being that it is the Cards makes it a tough pill to swallow. Had we given these guys to the Mets for Weaver or Holmes and a reliever that is one thing. I am happy we are at least putting ourselves in a better position to take on the Dodgers. However why Frias, he could be a top 20 prospect by midseason next year.
  2. The deal here for Sanzatela is much more in line with what I expected to give up for an expiring player. Very good deal.
  3. T-Rats lose 5-4 in 10. It was 1-1 after 9, Low have up 4 in the 10th. The Crew made a charge scoring 3 but fell short. Dorchies was solid 6 inning 4 hits 1 run 4 walks 4 ks. Dickinson, Bitonti, Castillo with 2 hits each.
  4. I kind of think it might be best to get a multi inning guy to piggy back with our starters. Kind of lean into the shorter playoff outings and do a little moneyball approach. 1) Luke Weaver for Quero, Coleman Crow, and Kenny Fenelon 2) Tyler Holton for Dylan O'Rae and Mark Manfredi I would use Weaver like we did a young Josh Hader. Just put him in the biggest spots in the game. In the playoffs maybe he leads a bullpen style game. Holton is just that sneaky lefty who doesn't throw hard but his accuracy and pitch mix are deadly. Both could provide 4-5 quality innings in a playoff series which combined would be like adding a high end starter. In the offseason we could trade Weaver and get most of that prospect value back.
  5. Who are the candidates for Brewers minor league pitcher of the year? It's not a very good race. Off the top of my head Letson and Deberry have been good the last 6-8 starts or so. Maybe a reliever like Wagoner or Holub. Braylon Owens?
  6. I think Skubal to the Dodgers was the most obvious trade in the market. That would have been like Pena, Josh A, and Letson value for us to make that deal just to much. I think our strategy need to be just do what we do. Make the best deals to make our team better while maintaining a strong future.
  7. My 1st impression of the trade was that we didnt get much for Yoho. I am giving Perkins pretty muchly no trade value even though he has been a useful player. Naylor badly needed a change of scenery and has good upside still to at least be a solid platoon catcher. Hauer has a good arsenal and get elite extension so there is something to work with. However this is like his 6th organization so there are some issues. My biggest worry is that this could indicate a offseason trade of Contreras and lead to a Quero/Naylor duo. If we trade Quero now for a difference maker this trade this trade becomes really good. I am disappointed we gave up on Yoho but overall I would give this a B, if we trade Quero it becomes like a A-. If it means we trade Contreras in the offseason it is maybe a C+.
  8. I think there are a number of guys that have a chance to be pushing some top 100 lists. Frias and Ebel have been getting some love so I will leave them out but here are some comps. Bitonti and Antunez could be close to comping vs a top prospect, however you kind of need to excuse the K problems to much to make a good case. 1) Ragsdale vs Charles Davalan (#82 mlb.com, Davalan has been one of the quickest riser for most prospect authorities) Ragsdale has a little more swing and miss but is ahead of Davalan across the board so I will forgive that. Ragsdale AA, 22 YO, 82 gm 322/449/572 16 HR, 31 SB 65 bb/92 k Davalan A+, 22 YO, 87 gm, 291/405/526 17 HR, 16 SB 50 bb/44 k 2) Payne vs. Eric Hartman (#74 mlb.com, another of the prospect worlds' fastest risers), when you take into account Payne has played 26 less games the comparison is very close. Payne A+ 19 yo (20 in 2 weeks), 66 gm, 293/390/587 20 HR, 22 SB 38 bb/90 k Hartman A+ 20 yo, 92 gm, 278/366/533 24 HR, 38 SB, 45 bb/95 k's 3/4) Blake Burke and Luke Adams vs. Charlie Condon (#70 mlb.com) #3 pick same year as Burke, big difference in Burke at AA vs AAA for Condon but otherwise I would argue Burke should be given similar scouting grades across the board. Adams lines up remarkably well even though he missed around 30 games Burke AA, 23 yo, 86 gm, 281/366/625 29 hr, 25 sb, 41 bb/ 94 k Adams AAA, 22 yo, 57 gm 262/404/561 15 HR, 8 sb, 30 bb/38 k Condon AAA, 23 yo, 88 gm, 287/403/552 20 hr, 6 sb 55 bb/102 k 5/6/7) The Dominican Trio of Frontado, Matos, Moneys vs Franciso Renteria (#87) and Angeibel Gomez (#100), Our trio isn't to far off even though Renteria and Gomez are really good. If Matos had a bigger signing bonus he would be up there (he is also over 1/2 year younger than the rest) Frontado 17, 31 gm 312/443/606 9 HR, 13 SB, 23 bb/20 k Matos 17, 40 gm, 347/448/646 10 HR, 16 SB, 26 bb/24k Moneys 17, 40 gm, 290/444/497 4 HR, 22 SB, 36 bb/34 k Renteria 17, 40 gm, 373/456/627, 7 HR, 18 SB, 24 bb/25 k Gomez 17, 35 gm, 348/460/625, 6 HR, 12 SB, 21 bb/15 k
  9. As someone mentioned 15-20 but he is still super young. Yeli is done after 2028 and I think his timeline is perfect for Bitonti. Between Fischer, Burke, Adams, and Bitonti they should have 3 guys to platoon 1B and DH, while giving Made an occasional break at 3B and hopefully 1 or 2 of them can be a 5th OF like Bauers. That is a lot of power and quality middle of the order bats.
  10. I thought the same thing yesterday, Adams, Miller, and very maybe Wilken are likely the only guys with upside. Most of the AA lineup and about 1/2 the A+ lineups are deserving of a promotion.
  11. Any chance we could do a prospect for prospect swap of Jett for a younger pitcher? Something in the vein of Jett for Kruz Schoolcraft. The Padres get a guy who could help them now in a couple of places and we get a bigger upside prospect who is farther away. Schoolcraft hasn't been great but we have done well with taller pitchers recently. Obviously there are probably a dozen or so pitchers and teams that could match up in a similar deal.
  12. The list of players deserving of a promotion seems to be getting pretty long. With draft picks coming up and those needs I can see a bunch of AAA cuts coming if we dont trade to many players.
  13. Trevor Rogers and Yannier Cano for Dinges, Crow, and CarRod Both pitchers get a big bump with our defense being alot better than the O's. 2 birds with one trade.
  14. I wouldnt mind May or Morejon at all but Payne for Morejon is way to much for me. I think Payne will be a top 50 prospect at this point next year, to trade him for a half year of an above average reliever is to much. Letson is in the same boat for me, I think giving him up for a half year of an #4 starter with upside would be tough. May probably should get a player like Letson as a return but with our pitching depth struggling I would try and trade a bat instead of him.
  15. The Angels just gave away Silseth and O'Hoppe to the Rangers for a non top 30 prospect. I thought the Angels were going to be demanding outrageous prices but apparently not.
  16. Burke just tied things up with #28, 6-6 bottom 8. He needs to be in AAA by the trade deadline.
  17. Josiah Ragsdale with his 9th HR in 22 AA games. For a guy drafted with little power tool that is insane. Ebel went 3/4 and Juan Ortuno 0-0 with 5 walks. JD Thompson with another solid scoreless 4 innings after the IL stint. AA by the end of the year possibly? Bitonti with a blast as well.
  18. I think the Biloxi lineup tonight might as good as 4-6 mlb lineups around the league tonight. Crazy good.
  19. Dont forget Frontada as a top line guy and then plenty of others in the Jose Anderson/Juan Ortuno style.
  20. Ward would be an upgrade over Lockridge for sure but as a platoon option he likely starts like 20-25 games and pinch hits. Add on that he only plays left so when he plays he moves Chourio to RF which isn't a huge deal. He really wouldnt provide value at DH because we have Vaughn after Yeli. My guess is a good rental bat like Ward costs 2 solid but not spectacular prospects say O'Rae/Bitonti and Dorchies/Dubaniwiecz. That is a pretty heavy price to pay for like 125 abs when we have Lockridge, Sal (eventually), and Perk. I really like Ward and he fits a right handed power bat. I just dont see the playing time to warrant giving up 2 decent prospects.
  21. With the Padres farm system being so bad could we maybe do a quantity over quality deal with them based on how many iffy rule 5 guys we might have. Michael King for Wilken, O'Rae, Kuehner, Manfredi, and Black/Damien Miller I get that is a lot of not much but Wilken and O'Rae would likely be top 10 (O'Rae maybe top 5) and the rest around 20. Just throwing stuff around.
  22. With Wood and Miller playing well I would think Quero or Dinges would be my guys to ship out after Jett. I am very confident we will keep William next year and getting a Sanchez/Haase style backup is cheap. With both Quero and Dinges having some defensive questions I would be ok sending either for a pitcher. I do think that Megill will be traded in the offseason, so maybe that would be a spot to target a higher upside catcher.
  23. I cant see the Ms making sense I dont see who they would want that we would be willing to trade. Sal and a prospect for Hancock would be as close as I could think but with Sal out that doesn't work.
  24. I think the issue with Skubal is outbidding the Dodgers. They 5 high end OF prospects with Pages, Tucker, Edman for multiple years. They also have pitching depth to trade especially when Snell and Glasnow come back (maybe Ohtani?) Even if we pony up big the Dodgers still could overbid since they dont have need for prospects with the 500 million dollar plus budget.
