  1. Yelich looking more and more like the Yelich of 2021. Barely hanging on to the top 10 on the team in slugging,
  2. It is pretty mindboggling that a guy who roughly has an .850 OPS against RHP and .575 versus LHP for his career is platooned against LHPs.
  3. Last year I would have guessed Wong's option for 2023 would probably be exercised. There isn't a chance I would do so now.
  4. I actually appreciate the umps doing their job's so horribly that it will more quickly usher in the robotic umpire era.
  5. I will never understand why the guy that hasn't hit righties in 3 years automatically plays everyday and bats cleanup on top of it. It's why I never wanted him signed in the first place especially for that amount of money. And he's even exceeded my expectations.
  6. What is with Wong's defense this year? It really hasn't been very good.
  7. Strange, I even logged on to Spectrum on the Internet and it's not there either. 1310 is but not 1309.
  8. Anybody having issues with the Bally Sports channel on Spectrum? The channel has disappeared for me.
  9. I agree, and he is a good bunter. Unfortunately, it is his strong point, and baserunning, at this point.
  10. I'm not advocating for Hader to be used more than 1 inning at a time but in an emergency, or when certain guys punch walls, it has to be on the table. I'm just not convinced it's even open for discussion.
  11. I also agree that Hiura probably will/should be the guy to go. Not saying it's what I would do but basically using him strictly against LHPs, which he's proven he can't hit, is not only a stupid decision by Counsell but one that does seem to indicate he has no interest in him being on this team. I actually think there would be a very good chance he would outproduce McCutchen in the DH role against RHPs if given the opportunity.
  12. I think it's pretty safe to say, you will never see Hader pitch outside of the ninth (ignoring extra inning games) and never more than one inning. And that decision from what I've read, is all on Hader with CC basically forced to go along with it.
  13. The biggest reason I had no interest in McCutchen is because he really hasn't done much against righties since 2019 yet it was obvious he was going to be the every day DH against RHP and now batting clean up no less. Just wasn't worth $8.5 million when he can only hit lefties and is no longer a good OFer.
  14. I've been as down on Hiura as anybody but I was very pleased he really changed his leg kick in the offseason. I even made the comment to a friend in the spring that I was even a bit more optimistic long-term about him than I was Yelich. Not that he'd necessarily be better but might be closer to replicating 2019 than would Christian, not that either really could. Then came 8 Ks in 16 ABs and nothing seemed to change. It would have been interesting if he got every day at bats for a month coming out of spring if anything would have been different.
  15. Hiura has now struck out 181 times in his last 426 at bats dating back to the very end of the 2019 season. That's who he is, and I am completely convinced, will remain.
  16. Figured the cost to acquire Voit would be a 10th ranked prospect or so and that appears to be the case here. I was willing to do that but wasn't sure the Brewers were interested in two 1B-only guys on their roster.
  17. Yeah it would be the same as saying Yelich can play all 3 OF spots, badly.
  18. That makes more sense than the 2 year deal with a player option as first reported. Probably a deal I would have been willing to do.
  19. I can't believe that third year option is a player option. Just exercise it already Nelson.
  20. I wouldn't count on that BABIP to magically increase his batting average. Last year's BABIP of .284 was the best of his career with .275 being his next best. The league may average something around .300 but for some guys that would be a dream and for others a nightmare. For Renfroe that would seem to be an absolute dream that will likely never come true.
  21. I don't think using Garcia's contract as a comp to what Renfroe would be worth would be correct. I think most would agree that Garcia was overpaid. Perhaps Miami had to overpay to get him to sign with them. Regardless, he's roughly a 1 WAR/year better player than Renfro and is projected to be this year as well. That's about a $5 million per year difference between the two right there.
  22. Renfroe did have some stand-alone value so why would they non-tender him? Just because they tendered him a contract doesn't mean they really wanted the guy. They could have almost certainly have traded Renfroe to somebody else for a lesser prospect. To me it's very clear what this trade was all about. From the Brewers perspective, 1) rid themselves of Bradley 2) rid themselves of JBJ, and 3) add Renfroe. From the Red Sox point of view it was all about adding two prospects they liked. My post was in response to another poster calling him garbage because they traded him. How do you know the view point of the Red Sox? Maybe they considered letting JBJ go as a mistake and wanted him back. Because everything I've read is they really wanted the prospects, they are clearly looking to add another outfielder, they may try to trade JBJ to somebody else (good luck with that one), etc. There is nothing in what I've read that would indicate they plan on starting JBJ so it wouldn't seem he's somebody that features prominently in their plans one way or the other.

  24. I think it is true that Boston did not want Renfroe either. They are looking to upgrade that position. I know they are big on Suzuki. I think they were very high on one or both of the prospects they got and are at least somewhat confident they can get Bradley back to being at least a competent player again. So while not exactly garbage, they were able to improve their farm system while still hoping/planning/expecting to improve their outfield situation on top of it.
