  1. Yelich's OPS now down to .499 in his last 20 games. Counsell himself might be able to manage that.
  2. Almost hoping for a strikeout with as bad as he's been lately. Anything but a DP.
  3. No, he just had a lat injury. Was always supposed to be back at some point.
  4. Yeah, I'd take that bet... I think that saying ANYTHING 2.5 years out and claiming it to be a certainty is a poor idea. Ok, 99.9%. Better?
  5. Yeah, I'd take that bet... So I assume that means you are disagreeing with me. If so, you really think he's going to be on our roster for 3 years after this?
  6. I see absolutely nothing to like in Curtiss. He will be non-tendered in my mind certainly before his second year. If even that. He's just a guy.
  7. The problem with Williams this year is that the first batter he faces is getting on at a .432 clip. I'm sure it's gotten better lately but it takes him a while to get things going. Particularly problematic for the closer. EDIT: But once he gets that changeup dialed in....
  8. That's about a .520ish OPS out of our star his past 19 games. If he has an OPS over .675 the rest of the way, count me stunned.
  9. Good news. Let's get Cousins back soon too. I've been looking forward to getting those guys back more than Yelich. Such a sad statement but one I completely agree with.
  10. If Bryant turned down a trade to the Brewers and instead went to the Giants that would be understandable. As it is, it's just plain dumb.
  11. Dillard really is tough to listen to in any situation. I would be ecstatic if it was a one year experiment but he'll probably be around as long as Augie was.
  12. Aaron Sanchez was DFAd today. Did he look like he had anything left in the tank yesterday? As a bullpen arm that is.
  13. Curtiss just looks like a guy to me. At the time of the trade people were so excited for all those years of control we got. Eventually he'll become somebody like Claudio that you just end up non-tendering him rather than go through arbitration with him, probably after year 1. His arm just isn't terribly special.
  14. Apparently Yelich has been mailing it in for two years now. In all seriousness, I don't even expect an OPS of .700 from him the rest of the way.
  15. Dude is typically very good in right field. Seems like a fair assessment to me. Not real sure how else it can be described. It's a catch that Garcia likely makes more than 99 times out of 100. He's average in the outfield. Maybe slightly below average, slightly above on a good day. Not really a liability but I wouldn't say he's typically very good. He's typically solidly average. I think he makes that catch more often than not. Not sure about better than 99% of the time though. Either way, the guy has been a plus player after I thought he was a waste of a roster spot last year. He gives me hope for JBJ next season. He's 91st amongst outfielders in Outs Above Average in the league. As many pointed out, the guy who's 25th in the league probably should be on the field at the end of a tight game.
  16. That would be the definition of selling low. Gotta think his value is near zero right now. Maybe one team thinks they can fix him and would give up a bullpen arm or lottery ticket. It's low for sure but there is likely at least one team out there, and probably more, that loved him going into the draft and absolutely think they can fix him. So I don't think it's near zero yet. Another year like this and it would be. Depends if you think he still has upside. Personally I'm highly skeptical that he does so I'd be willing to move him. However, I would agree it would make no sense to trade him if the only offers you were getting were guys like Wiegel or an extreme lottery ticket. But if you could get even a remotely decent prospect I wouldn't hesitate.
  17. I still hope Hiura is traded in the offseason. You can say he's at the low point but I'm not even remotely convinced he will be anything more than he is right now. Maybe the ceiling is the 2020 version of Hiura and that wasn't any good either. It's not like this was his only lost year. Personally, I don't trust anything about 2019 in general when it comes to power. That ball was bogus. Throw in a babip over .400 and defensive and pitcher adjustments, and I just don't see if ever happening for him again.
  18. The guy didn't really deserve to be in a big league game again. Don't really care what he was doing in the minors. Hasn't been even a passable reliever since 2016 and hasn't been a good one since 2011. To have any expectations of him being anything but terrible was quite a stretch. Him getting hurt might have actually been a good thing for the Brewers as it could have burned them eventually.
  19. I don't expect this experiment to last very long. Ok velocity in today's game with nothing else to go with it.
  20. With so many guys under team control, and Escobar being 32, I'd find it highly unlikely for Stearns to put a lot of effort into pursuing Escobar long term. That might be true but he only got a 3/$21 deal when he was 29 and coming off a 3.5 fWAR season. Who's to say a 2/$15 deal might get it done this time. I just don't want to go into next season with the same junk at first we had this year. I think he'd be pretty good insurance at a fairly affordable price.
  21. I'd actually like to see the Brewers sign Escobar to an extension. The last time he was traded at the deadline, he signed an extension before free agency began that I thought was below market. I'd like to see history repeat itself.
  22. I knew trades could still be made after the "deadline" but wasn't sure exactly how. Brewers actually acquired Feyereisen after the 2019 deadline.
