  1. Gee, why is the Brewers farm system so awful? That seems pretty unfair. Both those guys are upper end prospects with considerable upside and national buzz. They weren't drafted as favors. Maybe so but a little harder justifying the Samuel Mendez pick.
  2. Hey Arcia has an .860 OPS in 7 games with the Braves with 6 RBI. That's better production in LF than from another team I know.
  3. I really couldn't care less if they talk to guys during live action in an All Star game. When they do it during the playoffs, that's a completely different matter.
  4. If the Brewers traded Tristen Lutz for a Joc rental this board would be up in arms. Lutz is completely expendable to me, I wouldn't mind it at all I'd pretty much agree on Lutz. He had some kind of pedigree to warrant a 1st round selection versus 24th round for Ball. However, at this point the likelihood of either making it to the majors and contributing anything positive is extremely remote. I'd say Lutz is worth a tad more but it wouldn't be by much.
  5. Gives an idea of value. Braves 12th best prospect I highly doubt he'd be a 12th ranked prospect today. A former 24th round draftee, 23 years old hitting .207 in A+ ball. Baseball America had him at #18 before the season. Wouldn't be surprised if he was in the 25 range right now.
  6. JBJ's interleague splits are actually much better than his time in the AL so unlikely that has been his issue.
  7. I just don't think Gallo to play first is in the cards. He hasn't played there in several years and his defensive metrics overall are actually fairly similar to Hiura's have been this year. He feels RF is his natural position and the defensive metrics bear that out. Just not sure how interested he would be playing 1B again and it might effect his play. A trade in the offseason to replace Garcia would make more sense to me.
  8. No, I discarded all games that were not 9 innings in length. In theory I suppose, one of those games could have been part of a 7 inning DH but it would have gone 2 extra innings for a total of 9.
  9. A pretty worthless player traded for somebody who I'd be quite surprised if he ever made it to the majors. Nothing to see here.
  10. As of 2018 the NBA average game time was 2 hours 18 minutes. That's 45 minutes less than an MLB game. I know that the numbers are what they are, but I would be interested to know what the MEDIAN MLB game is. I've attended and watched plenty of MLB games that run 4+ hours. You will never, ever, see an NBA game go 3.5 hours. The length of game is just one thing, but the variance in length is another. I think the NBA games are paced perfectly. They are just the right amount of time where you could still have a viewing party, and not so long than an 8pm start is a disaster. Baseball is too long. Football is also too long. I watch like one Brewers game a month, and I'm in and out of it. I attend about one a month, and I almost always leave early. The average 9 inning MLB game thus far this year has averaged 3:10 with a median of 3:08. There have been a whopping 22 games that have lasted less than 2:30.
  11. NBA games aren't even close to MLB games in gametime length. I haven’t watched much NBA in about 15 years, but I thought they often pushed 2.5+ hours back when the Brewers were among the fastest teams in the league at around 2:45. Perusing Bucks boxes from about 15 years ago, it does seem like the games were a little longer but still nearer 2:20. This year, Bucks games averaged 2:13 with a median of 2:11.
  12. From my standpoint, I'd be kind of reluctant to pick up the option because he's consistently been an every other year type of player. Never hit higher than .245 in an even year. While that might not be a consideration to most people and likely not the Brewers, it would still make he hesitate. If the Brewers exercise the option, Avis' decision might come down to how much he enjoys playing here. He likely would get either a 1 or 2 year deal at roughly the same money he's making now ($10 million). So does he feel like gambling on trying to get the 2-year deal or just take the one year option? Second half will go a long way in answering that question.
  13. Supposedly not long ago, Smith said baseball should be marketing Ohtani more than they have been doing. Then suddenly he doesn't deserve to be the face because he can't speak English. The show was obviously scripted.
  14. The one thing that shocked me going through some of the old posts was that Lind was a 3 WAR player. I guess he was per baseball reference in 2015 but not even close on fangraphs. Not sure how popular fangraphs was back in the day, but fWAR is a better metric than bWAR for predicting what a player is going get in free agency. So I would have said Lind was closer to 1.5 WAR than 3 at the time of the trade which would have made his $8 million salary an over pay for a 32 year old that couldn't field at all. I'd say the return was fair even if the trio never sniffed the majors.
  15. Sounds like 7-inning double headers and starting extra innings with a runner on second will be coming to an end next year. I for one will be glad, particular with the latter.
  16. I thought Yusniel Diaz rated in the 20-30 range at the time. I could be wrong. But the others as noted were B level prospects. Also coming from the Dodgers system should mean more to a team than coming from most systems. They seem to develop talent better than other teams. Diaz was #46 at the time. Kremer was the Dodgers 9th best prospect and Bannon would probably have been around #30 for a number of teams at the time. The other two guys were just guys. I think Machado is a minor step up on Bryant but fairly close. I do think something around Turang a lower top-30 prospect and a couple of lottery tickets would be a fair offer. Turang and Small is too much as far as I'm concerned.
  17. I don't root against the Brewers as they have been my team since inception. However, I find it annoying when people are pure homers and never see things objectively whatsoever. Same with the Packers.
  18. Tampa as a team generally hits better on the road, some years fairly significantly. That obviously isn't remotely normal so it would seem like there is something to it.
  19. Yeah the awful Boxberger. 2.89 ERA and 1.14 WHIP versus league averages for relievers of 4.14 and 1.33.
  20. Hembree might not be available for the Reds after pitching 4 of 5 days so that might give us an edge.
  21. I for one am not fawning over the Reds. I just like their offense better, the starting pitching is pretty similar in my mind, and our bullpen is better. I also think the bullpen is the easier fix at the deadline of the three components.
  22. I'd personally put the division race at 50/50 and that's only because we are currently ahead by 5. I'd still pick Cincinnati to win it however.
  23. Only way Reyes can get on is a walk. I think he goes up there hoping the pitcher throws 4 balls before 3 strikes. He has zero MLB value. Yeah I know, he stinks. His batting average is still higher than the other two clowns that batted before him.
  24. Can't say I'm surprised that Reyes is the one of the three to get on base. Had zero faith in the other two, only slightly more in Reyes.
