  1. What does it mean when our guy crosses that thing that looks like an upside-down house? It seems to be a good thing; perhaps we should do it often. YAYYY!!!!!!
  2. I'm hoping we have to send you the detox after the game if that's the case. THAT's The Spirit!!
  3. I sure would be. I think Yelich's mental toughness is a lot stronger than most on this board...at least based on so many of these IGT posts You had to know that coming in. Still, he's human, and he knows he's not at his best. That's no fun for any of us. Fortunately, the mentality of bums like me doesn't matter.
  4. Well, why not? He's gotten a bunt hit this year. That was disappointing. You have 2 men on, 0 out. do you play for a run, or hope for a 3-run blast? If you play for a run, there's less pressure on the batter to swing himself out of his jockstrap.
  5. I'm going with this. Sure, everybody wants to win the WS, especially when you have a really good team and a really good chance. But only 1 team does it. Of course, losing is always a big disappointment And yeah it can be really miserable. Hey, this is a 40+ year NO Saints fan here, with more bummers, crashing disappointments, astonishing losses, and crapola seasons than can be told. But if you think 6 months of baseball --good baseball at that-- is "wasted" or "forgettable" unless your team wins it all, well... why watch sports at all?
  6. Absent some unimaginable blunder --much more than merely a strategic move that doesn't work out-- Craig Counsell will not win or lose this game. It's not all THAT complicated: Whoever gets the ball must pitch, whoever steps up to the plate must hit. It's like backgammon: Strategy matters, but the roll of the dice can make a joke of any plan. No premature post-mortem while there are dice yet to roll.
  7. You can argue till Kingdom Come about taking Peralta out. Bottom line: Nobody hit; Hauser gave up 3 in a flash. Say good night. Playing for the season tomorrow.
  8. I had to chuckle when Ueker said the runner on 3rd was an important run... as if we could get 3 runs but not 4. I didn't chuckle THAT much. :-/
  9. How about that? A "looping" line drive for a hit beats a "bullet" up the middle for a DP.
  10. The TBS broadcast said 0 for 15, which is now 0 for 16 after Cain struck out. OW!
  11. If I heard the radio right, we are 0 for 9 with RISP in this series. (Was a runner in "scoring position" when Tellez hit it out?)
  12. Monday morning quarterbacking? Before that inning started you were already pining for Counsell to remove Peralta. Of course you're going to defend it regardless of how poorly it worked out because you didn't want Atlanta getting more looks at him. That's despite the fact he's had no trouble either this year or in his entire career the 3rd time through. It's also despite the fact that Atlanta wasn't exactly haven't much success against him. And it also ignores the fact that the alternatives to giving Atlanta repeat looks against Peralta were sending in guys the Braves had already seen this series. Some of us expressed not wanting Peralta to be pulled early BEFORE that situation even came up. Some of us look awfully correct right now. You look awfully incorrect right now so you call it MMQB'ing. Because it's a convenient deflection. ^^THIS^^
  13. That's true. One can be sad without being "disappointed." Good pitching without a consistently solid batting order got us through the season. But when you play the big guys in the playoffs, you can't expect to win without somebody hitting. There are still 9 outs today and a game tomorrow, but we've got to score
