  1. As others have said, I hope the "Morgan/Plush days" are in the past. Tell me about Elian Herrera. If Schafer was traded, is Herrera a good enough option to back-up center field? If we keep both Weeks and Gennett on the 25-man roster, we may need a super utility guy like Herrera. Bench Maldonado Halton Gindl Herrera Weeks (Sorry to take this so far off-topic)
  2. After missing last year, my wife and I would be interested in attending again. Of course, with the weather, every waking minute may be taken up with re-scheduled sporting events so a lot will depend on the date that works for you guys.
  3. I know it has been mentioned that Boston may be looking for a back-up centerfielder to pair with Jackie Bradley. Would Carp for Schafer be fair? Would love if the deal could be expanded to include Middlebrooks if Drew were to re-signed with the Sox.
  4. Nick Cafardo throws out Mike Carp's name today. 4. Mike Carp, 1B/LF, Red Sox — The Brewers need a low-cost first baseman and Carp appears to be a good fit. Whether the Red Sox would deal him remains to be seen as they enjoyed his off-the-bench contributions last season. Carp deserves a chance to play every day and won’t get that opportunity with the Red Sox unless there’s an injury to Mike Napoli. The teams made a deal in December when the Sox received reliever Burke Badenhop for a minor league prospect. http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/01/05/toronto-blue-jays-have-been-quiet-offseason-despite-need-for-reinforcements/98HLraXbL7FR7d8yyMD7AP/story.html
  5. Brewers announce an Aoki bobblehead along with a Japanese heritage day and then trade Nori to the Royals. Tanaka gets posted - problem solved. Make it happen Mark.
  6. 2 Questions: 1) What would Mike Carp, of the RedSox's cost (in players for the trade, not cash)? 2) Would he be worth it? Left-handed bat. He had a decent year last year (although looks like he was protected against left-handers for the most part). Is still youngish (27 until end of June). Is arby eligible for the first time so still 3 years before free agent.
  7. Someone more familiar with the Royals/American League - What would Butler be like defensively at 1st? A lot of games as DH scares me.
  8. While I agree that a platoon could be a way to get Rickie off to a decent start to increase his value, I wonder if it is possible for both to be on the opening day roster. With both players limited to 2nd base only, does that leave us short on the bench? Maldonado Schafer Gindl Bianchi (Plus a Halton/Francisco type to backup the infield corners)
  9. If the Brewers end up with Morrison, does this ensure that Hart won't be back? Could the Brewers figure to make Morrison 5th outfielder/LH ph option/occasional 1st baseman?
  10. I left Segura off because he is listed as being a bobblehead for "season ticket holders" in our renewal notice. Don't know if they would do two different Segura's in the same season.
  11. I'll take a shot at naming seven... C. Gomez gold glove - leaping over wall J. Henderson K. Lohse Sausage M. Attanasio - Given away May 11th vs. Yankees M. Estrada on Cerveceros Day J. Cirillo
  12. I thought of the Jays as well. Along with Buehrle (who would give us that "veteran presence" some want) they also have: Morrow at 8mil & 10mil Romero at 7.5 , 7.5, & 13.1 option. Actually wouldn't mind Gallardo, Loshe, Peralta, Buehrle, Thornburg. It's not my money.
  13. Oh it happened. My daughter even tried to get Hawing's attention from above to help celebrate the walk-off.
  14. I know what you are saying...I was at Yankee Stadium and Citi Field (Mets) last week and felt the same way. My family and I were also in New York last week (including a couple of days in Cooperstown for the first time). My wife asked about the interest in trying to get to Citi Field for a game and I told her it wasn't a priority. I won't be telling her about your good luck with the upgrade as I know I would never hear the end of it.
  15. All right, Gomez up with a chance to tie it up...Huh, Roenicke did what?
  16. Now Heyman at cbssports.com picking up on the story. Says Skaggs has been discussed but sources say "There's no traction at this point." http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-heyman/22627247/d-backs-are-talking-about-gallardo-azs-lhp-prospect-skaggs-in-mix
  17. Jon Paul Morosi at foxsports.com is reporting that Diamondbacks still "showing continued interest in multiple Milwaukee Brewers pitchers". Names Gallardo, Axford, Henderson, & Rodriguez. Says "No deal appeared close or imminent as of Wednesday night." http://mlbbuzz.yardbarker.com/blog/mlbbuzz/article/sources_dbacks_discussing_milwaukee_pitchers/13968829
  18. Perfect Trading Partner - Marlins Rickie Weeks traded for whatever we want. Rickie looks like an all-star vs. Miami and the number of family that attend the games would double the attendance for the Marlins.
  19. Perfect timing for this thread. We've just decided to visit the HOF for the first time in August. Would love anyone's suggestions on things to do, places to eat, etc. Will be traveling with my wife, soon to be 16-year-old son and soon to be 8-year-old daughter. Figuring to do a couple of days in Cooperstown area and then on to Buffalo/Niagara Falls area for a couple more days.
