  1. The players (well, most of them at least), seem to really despise the Autograph Friday's promotion, despite the fact that it's only like 15 minutes long (assuming they show up on time, which they don't always do). That being said, it's been around a long time (I remember getting them at County Stadium when I was a lot young), I doubt that they would nix it. I hope not at least, I'd still like to snag a few Braun and Fielder autos while they're still free and attainable.
  2. Speaking of the season ticket renewal, I also selected the Gallardo ball as my reward. I thought I was told that I would be contacted about it, or recieve it sometime in February, but I haven't heard anything yet. Anyone have any more info on this? or gotten your ball?
  3. There are several other teams that could form natural rivals with the Brewers: Twins, White Sox (who I know a lot of people already dislike) and the Cardinals. Personally, for me it would have to be the Cardinals, as they're relatively close, in our division and seem to beat us more than we beat them. It would be nice to play your "rival" more than 6 times a year. Of course, we can always just hate the Yankees...
  4. Somewhere or other in the Trading Post section is a HUGE thread about autographs.
  5. I also gave up fast food and soda this year. I've given up many things in the past: pizza, junk food, video games. It's really not all that difficult if you just get it in your mind that you can't have it. I don't eat a ton of fast food, probably twice a week or so, but it's not overly easy either. It's only 6 weeks...
  6. I think I would stick to mainly comedies, but I do really like sports movies... 10. Rudy 9. Wedding Crashers 8. The Last Boy Scout 7. Elf 6. The Great Escape 5. Super Troopers - it's so dumb but I just can't stop laughing at it 4. Stranger Than Fiction 3. Miracle - on an island, you might need a good pick-me-up 2. Major League - not on any other lists? 1. Good Will Hunting I tried to pick a wide range of movies as I wouldn't want to get sick of the same stuff. In reviewing it...very very odd list.
  7. When the Indians were here and Borowski came out to Wild Thing, that was pretty sweet. I think even some of the Indians were laughing about it after the game.
  8. I agree about the Yankees, it seems that their prospects get WAY over-valued. Without actually taking time to research it, they just always seem to have "blue-chip" prospects, and they just don't seem to turn out.
  9. Since we're going to all three games, we figured we'd sit in the bleachers/outfield area for 2 games and splurge one night and get some of the more expensive seats. For those of you that have been there, what are the best places to sit? Any chance of getting seats near the Brewers dugout, or would they be season ticket holders? Which dugout is the visitors? Any chance of sitting in the Crawford boxes, or would those cost an arm and a leg? They all look reasonably priced, but that's assuming I can actually get some when they go on sale (and after the Red Sox fiasco, who knows....)
  10. That's disappointing, the stadium always looks pretty cool on TV. I guess we'll wait and see, I'm curious as to how many Brewer fans will be down there. Based on this thread (in comparison to the Boston thread), it doesn't seem like there will be too many.
  11. Brewtown- I'm heading down there for all three games. Myself and two other guys, all of which are between 25-30. I'm not sure where we are staying yet, but we'll definitely be hitting some bars, both before and after the games. Send me a message if you want to talk about it in more detail. For anyone that's been there before, what are some good bars in that area? Should we stay downtown somewhere (we are renting a car?). Any places in the park we should make a point to sit in? or not sit in for that matter? The tickets go on sale in a couple weeks...thanks.
  12. In my opinion, Jim Gantner shouldn't be on any "top ten" lists. Aside from being a Brewer for an extraordinary long time, I just don't see what other qualifications he has. He was a solid defender, sure, but at best an average hitter.
  13. I saw it, and the end of the JBL/Jericho match shows just how fake wrestling can appear at times. It might have had something to do with the wrestlers, in that JBL hasn't really wrestled in 2 years and Jericho just came back...but at the end Jericho went to bulldog JBL to setup his crazy lionsault...well he completely missed JBL with the bulldog, yet JBL just fell over anyway. The crowd booed loudly and it was hilarious. You would have thought they could have let JBL get up, then try it again or think of something to do, but it just looked awful. I was disappointed by almost every match on the show. The Rumble was OK, but you knew when Cena came out, he had to win it. WWE has some issues with him, it seems as though they can't possibly let anyone else have the title. I think a lot of fans are getting tired of him, hence the booing that continues to grow. I've been saying for like 3 years that I was going to stop watching wrestling....and yet I continue to watch it....sad...
  14. It'll be just my girlfriend and I...and I'm not exactly a big guy...so this could be interesting. We'll be in row 17 on the third base side on Friday night and somewhere out in the bleachers on Saturday night....sounds like it could be an ugly couple of days...
  15. Me and a buddy are trying to get to every park, not necessarily to see the Brewers, but that would be pretty sweet too. So far, in order of best to worst: Yankee Stadium Camden Yards Turner Field Wrigley Field Metrodome Going to see the Brewers in both Boston and Houston this year. I'm pretty stoked about both of them. Yankee Stadium was crazy, though I only went to one game and sat in the bleachers. Wrigley sucked....
  16. I'll be there for the Friday and Saturday games...hope to see lots of Brewers fans floating around. I'm up for grabbing a beer bfore the game at a bar or something. Anyone ever cheered for the away team in Fenway? Are we going to be getting some rough treatment?
  17. I finally gave up. I tried calling probably 200 times, and had 30 or so windows open and couldn't get in. After almost 4 hours of sitting here I finally said the heck with it. I'll just bite the bullet and but them from stubhub or something. Twice face value isn't THAT bad, but this entire situation has been very frustrating and disappointing. There has to be a better way of selling tickets.
  18. I've had 25 open for almost an hour and still haven't gotten in. I wanted to get tickets for Friday and Saturday, but I'll be lucky to get even one game. This is really getting old in a hurry....there has to be a better way for sports teams to do this.
  19. So does anyone have any idea when the tickets for this series will actually go on sale? I'm heading out there and don't want to miss it. Thanks.
  20. Gatorade seems to have an immediate help, but I've found that it will make for some huge crashes when the effects (sugar and other energy products in it) wear off. Gives me a massive headache worse than the initial hangover. Also, I'd be careful with all the aspirin before going to bad, that is EXTREMELY bad for your liver to handle all of the booze and tylenol/aspirin. I'm not sure exactly what it does but I had a health type class at Whitewater and this issue came up and the professor almost came out of her shoes when she found out we did this...I haven't done it ever since.
  21. I do the same, what sucks is that our office is going to begin monitoring our internet activity in like 2 weeks. Currently only about 15 out of 60 or so employees has the internet. Our manager really doesn't care what we do as long as we get our work done so she doesn't even request the reports. Starting next Friday, all employees will get full internet access and the reports will automatically print off for the manager to view how often we are on the internet and the sites we are viewing.....which might make for some long, long days for me as I read JSOnline, check my fantasy teams, and of course Brewerfan for at least an hour or two each day.....grrrr
  22. The whole thing is just very bizarre. Apparently last week someone broke into his house, went through a bunch of drawers (though apparently didn't steal anything) and left a knife on Taylor's bed. A week later, they break in, shoot him in the leg (I agree that they probably didn't want to kill him) and may or may not have stolen anything. We'll see if they did indeed take stuff...if not, this just seems personal. Given Taylor's past, it's not that hard to fathom I guess, but still very sad. Also...did anyone else read that he keeps a machette in his bedroom for protection??!?! If someone breaks in with a gun (which they did), and you have a machette...you're going to lose most of the time....
  23. It's not so much the minutes they played, it's more when they played them I guess. Those minutes should have been filled by the end of the bench guys (IMO). It just seems more beneficial to give them the experience (who knows, we may need them at some point this year) and also minimizes the risk of injury to the starters.
  24. One thing I don't like about Bo Ryan is that the starters always seem to be in the game WAY too long. Take last night for example. Badgers are up 40+ points with 8 minutes to go...keep in mind that they also have games scheduled both today and tomorrow. Players on the floor: Butch, Steimsma, Hughes, Bohannon, and I can't remember the 5th Why would these players not only be resting for the next two days, but this would be a prime opportunity for some lengthy game time for players like Caine and Bronson. It's not a huge deal, but there is just no reason for them to be playing. This seems to be the case in every blowout, the starters just play too long and sooner or later we could get burned with an injury.
