  1. Alright. There's the bloop. Now follow that up with the blast!!! Gomez is due for one too....
  2. I feel like pitchers made some adjustments in how they threw to him, and Jean just hasn't made the adjustments back. His approach at the plate always seems to be the same. They've adjusted by basically not throwing him strikes. At least not lately. He's seemingly swinging at virtually everything.
  3. I'd like to think that we can come back and win this game...I'm just not feeling it. I hope I'm wrong, but honestly, this game has felt like a loss since about the third inning.
  4. Yeah, it's a rough stretch. But to go from one of the best teams in baseball to a team that suddenly can't score runs and is on the verge of losing 7 out of 8 is a bit beyond rough stretch to me. That said, the team itself doesn't seem to be showing any emotion or frustrations by the losing. Maybe that's a good thing, but I think people just want to see a little fire from the guys once in awhile during the rough times.
  5. So so frustrating to watch us constantly get ahead in counts 2-0 and 3-1 and do absolutely nothing with it. The frustrations continue. Why can't anyone get a big hit for us lately??
  6. The entire team has been so un-clutch lately. Let's put an end to that here please. Even a single is fine...
  7. Well that works too...keep playing those OF's so deep. We'll take the bloopers. That one definitely should have been caught. This seems to be the spot we've really, really struggled lately....driving guys in. Base hit can tie it. Come on Aramis!!!
  8. This has to be one of the most frustrating games I've watched in awhile. The amount of grounders that found holes, infield singles and whatnot that the Phillies have gotten is just astounding. But that's what happens when you are losing I guess. It doesn't help that we've just flat out forgotten how to get hits with RISP. The season is slipping away and the team just doesn't seem to be showing any signs of life. How the hell is that possible??
  9. There's more than that. We desperately need a 1b - I don't care what DM says, that platoon is horrid. We also need an improved bench player or two, but most importantly to me is we need another bullpen arm. Our pen is going to be fried. RR only seems to trust 2-3 guys and that just simply can't last. Thornburg and Henderson don't appear to be close, and even if they are, we can figure something out.
  10. Rosenthal walks 2 guys...tying run at the plate with 1 out. Tulowitzki up...
  11. Nice job Rockies. Up 6-5 with 2 outs in the 8th, somehow manage to wind up losing 9-6 in the 9th. 5 runs in innings 7-9, so much for picking up a game on them. Ugh.
  12. Really annoying that once again FSN isn't televising it, MLB network is, but it's still blacked out. I understand doing this when the Brewers are broadcasting it, but in this case they aren't, the game is on TV, yet I can't watch it because I live in Milwaukee. Frustrating. This is at least the third time this season this exact scenario has played out. Also...anyone else glad this IGT started late? I know for certain I would have made a post or two complaining about the lineup and how we were likely to get swept, glad I was spared that embarrassment Rockies now up 5-1, end of the 4th. Man, pulling that one out last night really would have been sweet, but it's nice to see the Brewers bounce back with a good performance (so far) today. I know the pen is a bit fried, but Estrada needs to be taken out here. He's pitched well, he's thrown 110+ pitches.
  13. Nice job Brewers. Way to have the offense go completely invisible for two nights. Gomez looked just flat out terrible at the plate. This one really, really stings. And we're likely looking at a sweep with Straburg vs Estrada tomorrow. Had several chances to win and just couldn't get a hit or execute basically anything on offense all night long.
  14. This is all true of course - but there's not much else to go by right now. It's all speculation. The thing is, when you pick second and to most experts, there are really only 2 top flight players right now (Wiggins and Parker), the rumors have some validity. If anyone outside of those two are selected with picks 1 or 2, it'll be a complete shocker. Bennett was last year too, but there really wasn't any top tier players in that draft like there are in this one.
  15. You cannot have it both ways. You cannot have a player freezing on contact AND going on contact. I disagree. Going on "contact" only applies if the ball is clearly going to be on the ground. Guys don't take off running on contact if the ball is up in the air - and that includes line drives. If you're at 3b and the ball is a line drive OR a fly ball, the first reaction needs to be back towards third - if you see the ball is going to fall or get through the infield you'll be able to score easily either way. The contact play should really only come into play on anything hit on the ground.
  16. My apologies, I misinterpreted your post.
  17. lets not forget that they play 7 against Milwaukee in September They will likely be over 10+ games back of the Brewers by that time. So after tonights games, the lead is at 4.5 with 19 games for the Cardinals before the break. You really believe that we're going to gain 5.5 games on them over the next 3 weeks?? Unless you're thinking they're going to just really implode and go something like 4-15, this is pretty hard to do. If they even go 9-10, we'd have to go 15-4 to gain 6 games that quickly. Not impossible, but I think that's extremely unlikely to happen. Yeah, they are out 2 starters, but they have pretty vaunted pitching depth which they are now tapping into. Not part of the plan, but they have lots of quality starters to fill those voids. And they have the ammo in the minors to go out and get a starter or a bat if they feel inclined to do so.
  18. If we wind up making 4-5 picks, we have the luxury of taking Thanasis with one of our second rounders if we really want to. Not sure we will, but with 3 second round picks, they have some room for a pick like that if they want to make it. I really don't see any issue with them playing the same position - I'm sure they could make something work if they were both good enough to see the floor.
  19. I want Wiggins or Parker period. I think Exum is a roll of the dice for this franchise that is currently seeking funding for a new arena. Have to get a Parker or Wiggins to help sell the arena. Having said that, the Bucks are supposed to be very active in looking for more lottery picks. Let's say the Sixers did offer 3 & 10 for 2 and the Kings offer of 8 for Sanders was legit. If the Bucks could end up with 3, 8 & 10 and drafted Exum, Randle and Payton to go with Giannis, is that worth losing a Parker or Wiggins? (Yes, I know the Sanders deal is independent of losing Wiggins/Parker. I guess is Exum and Randle worth losing out on Wiggins/Parker?) I agree with your first part 100%. New owners need fans, they need to get a new arena. You do that immediately by building some hype and drafting Wiggins or Parker. Both have been talked about for over a year as being in this draft. Both are projected to be very good and either could be a superstar. Nothing is a sure thing, but both these two seem to have very high floors. The Bucks simply can't afford to blow this.
  20. And even if the Brewers end up winning the division, you still aren't correct. DUCY? The race would be over in this scenario, actually. Brewers division champs! The way things are looking the Cards will miss the playoffs this year. What do you base your brewer homerism and Cardinal hatred on?? I'm sure all of us would love to win the division and have the Cardinals miss the playoffs, but there is still over half a season to go...and yes, they have 2 injured starters, but the Cardinals currently hold one of the two wild card spots (by 2.5 over Atlanta), they have the 7th or 8th best winning percentage in all of baseball and are 10-4 in their last 14 games so it's not like they've been free falling or anything. This next stretch should be very telling for them. This is their schedule up to the all star break: 3 @ Denver 4 @ LAD 3 @ SF 3 vs Miami 4 vs Pittsburgh 3 @ Milwaukee That's about as tough as it gets (and much like our August).
  21. It is ironic that a guy would prefer to play in Milwaukee, if that's true. I'd still rather have Wiggins though.
  22. Big week here at home. Nationals coming in (and naturally we get Strasburg) and then Colorado again. We just swept them, but honestly it felt like we could have lost any of those games. I'll be happy with 4-3. Just don't want to give back all of our recent road success by falling flat on our faces at home.
  23. I'm perfectly fine with him giving up some HR with multiple run leads. That's the idea right? Let them hit the ball, they're going to make outs more often than not. Just don't walk guys. And yesterday, yeah he almost gave up 2 HR, but he didn't. He almost certainly doesn't throw the same if Dickerson scores or is on base. He also seems to have a unique ability to really, really focus with men on base. Like he thrives on it. I get nervous when he pitches sometimes, but I think that's more in my head on the "twenty minutes of terror" stuff, as his numbers really have been quite good this year.
