  1. One might ask: After beaning a guy high and inside on the last pitch and after a mound consult by the infield why are you swinging on that first pitch? One might ask. Anywho, we'll definitely take it.
  2. Cornielle gets a much-needed jam shot bloop to Adams at 3B for the second out.
  3. AND, just like that, he follows my lead and loses complete control plunking the next batter high and inside off his upper back. Cornielle is very much not sharp at all.
  4. Cornielle's heater is really tailing to the arm side run inside. He doesn't really have control of the pitch and it's forcing him to try and lead with his off-speed.
  5. Pratt gets the lead runner out at 3rd with a fantastic scoop and throw. LOVE that aggression. You rarely see it but that play is often there. Pratt is so dang good man. SO good.
  6. Gotta hope for a K here up 0-2. Hopefully limit the damage to one run overall.
  7. That was a second pitch. First pitch was a strike looking.
  8. Ugly start for Cornielle. Four pitch walk. 0-1 dead center cut off-speed gapped double to left CF. That was a meatball.
  9. In general, and it has very very little to nothing to do with that AB, I've mostly disagreed with Stanley, now Estevez, and likely the Brewers org and where they've batted Yophery in their line-ups in 2024. AND, Cornielle comes aboard and throws four consecutive heaters for balls. Ugly start.
  10. Didn't look comfortable and had two very poor swing choices. Show some patience, young man. Ugly AB.
  11. Yophery comes aboard and swings at an inside pitch at his eyes. He proceeds to swing at another heater inside (ball two) and hits a weak grounder to SS into a DP. Yuck.
  12. AND, Areinamo does the job with an 0-1 well hit poke liner single into LF. Pratt scores. Men on the corners. One down. T-Rats lead 1-0.
  13. Adams plunked for the 41st time (off his left ankle). Two men on. With a grimace, Luke will make his way down to 1B. Men on 1st and 2nd. One down.
  14. Pratt patiently takes a four-pitch free pass in the follow-up AB. Man on first. One down.
  15. Pitch numero uno is underway at Lake County. Ball 1 outside.
  16. In true fashion, the Sounds were rained out and suspended until a double-header tomorrow. It is a Playoff evening, baby...
  17. This is probably because the Brewers as an org also can't really hit the splitter. 😯 I'm kidding (kind of. not really. maybe just a little bit. Or not at all). I mean RHP Tanner Shears has about one of the filthiest splitters I've seen in the past several years. One of my biggest heartbreaks heading into this season was I wasn't going to see the further development of that pitch. Anywho, as to Holub, the splitter is a relatively new pitch for him with varying levels of control. In his last interview with Jeff Hem of the Sounds, he didn't even mention the pitch. It was all fastball and slider talk. I personally see the pitch as an off-season development akin to RHP Shane Smith developing the slider in the AFL last season. But, to your point: when he is throwing it it is pretty dang nasty. I could have sworn I've seen him use it in several outings of late with the Shuckers. But, I'm an old geezer who often makes wild n wooly claims on the basics. As you both know and love to point out 😆
  18. I don't think Wilken is going in any way shape or form. Get through the playoffs. Restore. He's also a new dad so I would be pretty near certain the org would pay attention to this. He needs to work out in the off-season. Keep swinging. Stay home with the family. Come back healthy and strong and mostly put 2024 in the rear view mirror. AFL games are just not needed here. Despite the injury plenty of AB's in-season. Names I would keep an eye on (via my own sentiments or rumblings I've heard): OF Hedbert Perez LHP Brian Fitzpatrick RHP Jason Woodward OF Luis Lara INF Eduardo Garcia INF Ethan Murray INF Mike Boeve RHP Blake Holub RHP Yerlin Rodriguez RHP Tyler Bryant RHP Chase Costello RHP Ryan Birchard
  19. He graded out extremely poorly in 2023. All Quay has done in 2024 is Quay Walker things. Missed tackles, poor angles, poor reaction, dropped INT's. He is just not a good starting NFL backer. If he wasn't a 1st rd pick he wouldn't see the field: I absolutely want to be wrong on this. This is the Norm, however. We're fooling ourselves if we think this is the exception.
  20. We re-signed him to a one year FA deal this past off-season. He will be Rule 5 eligible and free to sign with other clubs if the Brewers don't (1) add him to the 40-Man or (2) come up with some type of enticing Minor League deal re-up (assuming, in this scenario, he isn't scooped in Rule 5). The scary thing with EMJ is he is only really just starting to come into his own. And, saying this, we've now seen prime EMJ complete performance for essentially an entire year and a half running. It would be a major loss if he should sign with another ball club. He has some of the hardest hit balls in the system. What he provides across the infield with his target at 1B can not be overstated - with his full stretch he offers even more wiggle room outside his already massive 6'6" frame. The most exciting thing about the past two years is the free swinging fairly undisciplined A-Ball player has grown up - he is turning into a complete player before our eyes. Whereas Clarke hits for power, Clarke is also very dominant toward lefty splits and strikes out considerably more than EMJ. He also doesn't offer near the defensive upside EMJ does. In an absolutely perfect world the two would journey as a tandem platoon at Triple-A and as future possible Big Leaguers with the Brewers. The Brewers have invested eight years of development capital in EMJ. It would be a real shame if they didn't see the fruits of this shared labor all the way to the finish line. He's absolutely a priority re-sign for me with MLB-level upside given the tremendous growth we've witnessed over the past two seasons.
  21. I think, at this juncture, it's fair to say he'll be available to warm up tomorrow.
  22. Kuehner has been very good vs Montgomery in his limited time in Double-A. 2 GS / 10 IP / 4 H / 5 BB / 14 K / 1 HR / 1 ER Good match-up for the Lefty.
  23. A 6-2 'W' versus the Phils and Hoby still gets to allow his patented run/relief outing. Double Win!
