  1. One think I hadn't considered until now, however, is Anders has never missed a FG in Brazil. Perhaps, he is our Portuguese 'Man of War'?!?
  2. Indeed. AND, yet Carlson has been missing XP's like they are giveaways. HOWEVER, it is important to note: he was 14-of-14 between 30-39 yards last season. His FG issues were largely that 40-48 yard zone. OR, maybe he's just an insanely erratic kicker and has been since he kicked in college. There is also that. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck...you know the rest.
  3. Carlson's XP % last season (Extra Point!!) would have placed 14th amongst active kickers with 20 or more attempts if we simply considered them actual field goals. THAT is insanity. This is why I've been so vocal about Carlson and the FG kicking unit as an entity. Everything ST was supposed to improve measurably with Bisaccia who was promoted to assistant HC. All we've seen is a very sub-par ST unit as a whole and a hand-selected kicker who is one of the worst kickers in the NFL. It's a total quagmire.
  4. LB Kristian Welch...Bold Flavor. Big benefits.
  5. A 7-1 mark through games 2 and 3 sure feels really good. It's hard to convey how absolutely huge last night's 'W' was for Biloxi. Their pitching staff continues to do some extremely heavy lifting and it's important to remember that Barrons bullpen is no joke - they've been dominant essentially the entire season. BUT, as I've been saying for the past two months: the Shuckers bullpen is the team's lifeblood. Coming into tonight's contest, after last night's 1-0 pitchers duel (described above), 61 of the Shuckers 115 games have been decided by two runs or less. Naturally, I manually looked at this last night after I asked "2-7 in one run games? How many two run games have they had?! It feels like a lot." and then it's featured in today's 'Game Notes'!!😅 Could have saved myself some scrolling and tallying. None the less, after last night the Shuckers Pen boasts a 3.25 ERA on the season in 495 1/3 IP. 582 K. 174 BB. Such an underrated group.
  6. I've been saying the exact same thing since his Biloxi days. When Frelick puts it into a throw, his arm is a cannon. I don't buy any of the average arm nonsense. I've seen him uncork absolute darts from RF to 3B on several occasions. We may not get it all the time but that is a plus arm for the most part in my book.
  7. Oh I get it. I'm not saying they're wrong. Contreras is calling in a world of his own right now in random spots and it hasn't led to good results. Play to the advantages. Always. Live and die by leaning into strengths.
  8. I just saw Civale's pitch breakdown of his struggle-filled 4th. I can already see the follow-up Spencer and Stearn tweets and cover stories about Contreras' pitch calling in 3...2...1 😅
  9. Both the Braves and the Wahoos lost tonight so that's a 2.5 G lead over Mississippi and a 3.0 G lead over the Wahoos. As we know, the Biscuits are already buttered up for the playoffs having won the first half. They are irrelevant (tho they've won 3 straight and technically are 1/2 G ahead of the Shuckers).
  10. Yes sir. Gorgeous slider. Dipped below the belt and to the knees. Perfect location. Set up with high and inside heat. THAT is how it is done. Man, he got away with a hanging curve and a hanging slider in that inning. We'll take it!
  11. He gets the swinging K. YES SIR! THERE is the slider location. Gorgeous pitch. 15th Save of his season. Outer black dipped below the belt. THAT was the location and execution. Shuckers WIN. They are now up 2.5 G on the Playoff spot!
  12. Back to the heater. 95 to 96.61 mph and he is ahead 1-2. This is the way!
  13. He hangs a dead center slider on the very next pitch and gets away with it. Man, those were two really poor pitches in this scenario. Thank the heavens he got away with that. Whewwww. Flies out to LF. Runners on 1st and 2nd. Two down.
  14. Yeager hangs a dead center curve. Casual line drive poke to RF. Men on 1st and 2nd. That was a poor pitch. He got lucky that wasn't more damage. Yeeeesh.
  15. Pensacola and Mississippi have both lost tonight. Gotta win this, men! Gotta pull this out! Let's GO!
  16. The only 1 run win the Shuckers have experienced in 8 such opportunities in 2024 was the second game of their season. It was a Freddy Zamora solo jack if any of you recall. Time to make it a 2-7 mark Mr. Yeager. He gets the fly out to left CF and O'Rae easily grabs it. He falls behind 2-0 to the next batter but gets a slider across. Then gets a foul back on an outside heater. It's 2-2 now. One down. He misses well up and in at 95.05 mph for a full count. He misses low and can't get the chase on another low dipping slider in the dirt. That's two walks via that same miss. Tying runner is aboard with one down.
  17. This is what I'm talking about. Swing is crampe because it is high and inside. Has to drop the shoulder. Lead arm falls away. Just not a good swing decision. This is where he is at presently. He is forcing the issue and just not getting results. There's a time and a place to swing here - it isn't when you are ice cold at the dish.
  18. Wilken chases a heater tailing inside by meeting it front but drops the lead shoulder and casually flies out to LF. A repeat example of what I've seen this past month - lack of discipline in key counts and an inability to make a mark with that over-aggression.
  19. Miller walks and Wilken gets another opportunity to get a result. As we all know, results have been absent for the majority of Wilken's August. 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K tonight into this AB.
  20. O'Rae takes it full. O'Rae goes down looking at an identical heater as Warren. 96 mph - 1 mph less. Both just frozen after seeing sliders the pitch before. Rough look for O'Rae there as the sequence was the exact same.
  21. Warren leads off the 9th and goes down looking at a 97 mph dart on the outer black. He absolutely knew it. That's 3 K for Warren tonight.
  22. Gets ahead 1-2 on the next hitter. Jaeger is sitting 96 and touching 97. Trying to get chase on the 85-88 mph slider. He takes it full - misses a slider; fouled back a high heater; misses a heater outside. He gets the fly out to Scott in RF on a nice outside slider. Well-executed pitch. Forced a swing. Reached for contact. On to the 9th.
  23. EBJ gets eaten up by a tough hard hit one-hopper to deep SS. The DP not an option he gets the benefit of a bang-bang call at 1B for the 2nd out. Absolutely looked like that runner was safe by a good step. We'll take it!
  24. He walks the lead-off on a low slider. He gets ahead 1-2 to the next batter. Fouls a high inside heater back to the netting. Gets him swinging on a 97 mph heater at the top of the zone.
