  1. Heck of a play. That was probably a triple. I don't know how he held on or didn't eat grass. Play of the game right there.
  2. OH BABY, Mercado made a huge running stab that would have blown it open for the Wood Ducks. What a run down and reaching sprinting grab. I don't know how he held on. Whewwwwwww. 2-2. Let's walk this off and get to game 2!
  3. OK. He got a swinging K. Two down. Men on 2nd and 3rd. 2-2 game. Sheeesh.
  4. AND, next pitch about 6' wide and to the backstop. It's 2-2. Rodriguez has really struggled of late. UGH!
  5. First pitch not even close to the zone. At the batters ankles. Diaz makes a tremendous stop. Next pitch low and in 2-0 count. Third pitch a breaking ball way above the zone. This is reminiscent of recent outings: wild. Four pitch walk. Up and in not even close. Not a single pitch. 2-1 Mudcats. Bases still full. One out.
  6. Needless to say, this is what we call a huge moment for RHP Yerlin Rodriguez and this Mudcats team. 2-0 lead. Bases loaded top of 7th. One out. Let's see if Rodriguez can find that zone.😬
  7. He is now 3-0 on his next batter. Yikes. THis is tense. He is only at 55 pitches. He walked him. Bases now juiced. Ruh roh. This 7th inning has taken a turn. And, we are making a call to the Pen.
  8. Herrera now walked a batter on a pitch way inside in a full count. Men on 1st and 2nd. Diaz has called a timeout and he is conferencing with the entire infield. No coaches. Herrera will keep grinding.
  9. Herrera opened the 7th allowing a single. He then K'd his next batter on 3 pitchers (two heaters high and outside and then a gorgeous change-up). He is now 2-0 on his next batter and Rodriguez is warming in the bullpen. This is Herrera's 5th inning pitched.
  10. I don't say this lightly but he may already be the best all-around defensive infielder in the system. Age is considered here. But, the savvy he demonstrates and the smarts on a nightly basis is just an infinite pleasure for this Brewers Minor League baseball schlepp over here.
  11. Nice to see Reidy Mercado get in on some run-scoring success! His single scored Areinamo and it's now 2-0 as the Mudcats head to the top of the 7th and try to gain an early half game on Lynchburg and Fredericksburg!
  12. Areinamo doing Areinamo things. On the nightly! AND, Avina showing off that cannon I've been talking about. That underrated range and chase down. Both young men are going to be fun fun fun to watch rise through the Levels. Love it!
  13. FWIW: Vargas was replaced in Wednesday evening's game mid-game. He was manning 1B. Before an inning commenced the training staff came to the field to look at him (along with manager Joe Ayrault). They appeared to be looking at his right ankle. He was then pulled before his next AB for Metzinger. I didn't see anything happen in the field of play but he was certainly bothered by something.
  14. That's the differentiation with Sibrian: his full game. He is just so underrated, under-placed, and under-discussed. He calls the game individually - he doesn't need to look to the dugout. He has a cannon and good pop - extremely adept at not only throwing guys out in attempted steals but one of the best catchers in the entire system at rifling pick-off throws. It's such an advantage to have for a young squad. Maybe that's why the Brewers keep him in Low-A? As a leader and as a guy who helps mold the pitchers? He is well beyond Low-A in terms of skill and performance.
  15. As I said in Tuesday night's report, Myers was eating at his self-served change-up buffet - he was indeed getting many a swing and miss. Myers flashes like this enough to keep you very intrigued for his further development. Where he has struggled in 2023 is when his relatively flat four-seamer sees too much of the zone. He has been susceptible to the long ball and hard contact, again, when he is forced to find the plate with, what I personally view as, his most hittable pitch. Location is so key here (as always) and the off-speed is key.
  16. We'll have another five-game slate: It's Carolina's turn to make up Wednesday's postponement. Game 1 will begin 5:00 EST.
  17. At this point, I'm telling you, I just expect this type of wizardry from INF Jadher Areinamo every night. He is truly a defensive savant. He makes outs happen. Such a weapon. I'm going to keep reminding y'all of how pleasurable he is to watch. Just a really talented baseball player who is just starting to open up offensively as well. Very excited about his future:
  18. The old infield single in the 8th and the T-Rats lose out on another chance at history. Great effort!
  19. We are in the 7th and Wisconsin leads 5-0. They still have a thing going on. Certainly not 'perfect' - Cruz is getting friendly with the Free Pass program - but that thing is advancing into the late innings. Do it for Jimenez and his bid just awhile back!
  20. HUGE win! Montgomery is laying the wood to Birmingham. It looks like the Shuckers will hold the 0.5 GB in the chase for the second half crown. Whewwww.
  21. He did it!! Yessir, Mr. Robinson. Shickers win 3-2!!!
  22. Let's hope for a lil bit of this kind of magic!
