  1. He then got miraculously tagged out at 3B on a crazily hard hit grounder right onto the basepath about 3' from the bag. The literal only play for the 3B was fall on Chourio's helmet for the out.
  2. Chourio absolutely crushed that offering. As the Birmingham announcer said: "Well, I'll quote Ron Burgundy here: 'That escalated in a hurry!'"😅
  3. Sparks blasts a deep crack to the wall in right CF and he ends up hitting a dub, a triple, and a 2-rbi inside the parker. Woot Woot. The wild throw behind home plate sends him across. It's now 4-0 Shuckers! Let's friggin' GO! Nobody out. Chourio then blasts his own oppo rocket high off the RF wall. Missed a homer by about 6' on that rocket. Nobody down. Man on 2nd Base.
  4. Another 0-2 count. Rodriguez falls 2-2 again. BUT he gets the weak shallow pop fly out to CF and the Mudcats win 6-1. (Fist pumps!) Meanwhile, in Birmingham TJ Shook is absolutely dealing. He has 55 pitches through 6 frames of a 1-0 lead. And Carlos D. Rodriguez opens the 7th inning ripping a deep double to the CF wall. And Zavi Warren rips a deep double liner to the LF wall to score him. It's 2-0 Shuckers! Let's GO! Warren has knocked across both runs tonight in this tight contest.
  5. Rodriguez now walks the next batter after an 0-2 count. They tried to give Rodriguez fine-tuning six-run lead work. And, like many of his previous recent outings, he has found struggle. Let's hope he gets out clean and easy the rest of the way here.
  6. Rodriguez loses the shutout with a 1-2 line drive single to RF. The runner had advanced to 2B via a WP and to 3B via a groundout to 2B. Man on 1st base now. Two down. 6-1 Mudcats.
  7. Peterson gives up another hanger and it's another run-scoring XBH. Every slider dead center in worked counts. Four hits for the Kernels. Every one just absolutely hammered. 6-3 Kernels. You can't pitch like that to this team they are much too talented at the dish.
  8. Avina follow suit with a deeeeeep high triple off the base of the wall in dead CF. Baez grounds out sharply to SS to end the frame. We're on to the bottom half 6-0.
  9. Lynchburg trails 7-0 baby. Mudcats just took a 6-0 lead in the top of the 8th frame on a, wait for it... C Jose Sibrian two-run rocket over the LF wall. The Magic number is just waiting with baited breath to lower to TWO GAMES. Let's GO! Close it out, Gents!
  10. 2023 High-A Edquarqui Fernandez with the bases dripping: 0-for-8 and 5 K. He hits a weak dribbler to the pitcher's mound swinging at a consecutive ball in the dirt. He is currently not poised in these scenarios. Gotta calm the over-anxiousness in these scenarios. He has the talent. 5-3 Kernels the T-Rats leave them stranded. On to the 4th.
  11. The Shookster has gotten out of both the first and second inning by getting DP's. Effective pitching. On to the 3rd frame and the Shuckers lead 1-0. Meanwhile, Matt Wood rips a single up the gut and sends Wilken across. Runners on the corner. It's a 5-3 deficit. Garcia (singled in the second frame) is back to the dish looking to chip further into the Kernels' lead.
  12. Brock Wilken has now been on base in seven straight trips to the plate: 5 H. 2 BB. He just ripped a liner single into Left CF.
  13. The Shuckers score their first run on a Zavi Warren bases loaded deep sac fly to RF. 1-0 Shuckers. Runners on the corners.
  14. Sac Fly for the Kernels after the Moore error to deep RF. 5-2 deficit now. one down. Big error there. AND, more importantly, it almost got EBJ injured yet again. Mudcats execute a double steal on a high pitch above the zone. Runner caught at 2B. Areinamo scores. Avina rips a double and is now on 2B. 4-0 Mudcats! Let's GO!
  15. Mudcats singled three times to load the bases and then O'Rae scored on a shallow liner sac fly (because he's faster than a gnat) off the bat of Sibrian with an expert slide around the tag. 3-0 Mudcats. 1 down. Runners on the corners.
  16. Wooof. This feels like an early season T-Rats game. With nobody down, Peterson induces a very weak grounder to Moore at 2B who sails the pitch into the RF grass. IF you are going to go for that out, Mr. Moore, throw an accurate ball. Now runners on the corners. Nobody out. You can't make that error there. You need to help your pitcher out. Here's an idea: Just throw to 1B? The misfire sends a run across and puts runners at the corners. Bad look.
  17. Meanwhile, Peterson walks the next batter on 5 pitches and he faces Rosario again after giving up an absolute rocket in the first AB. Peterson is not sharp and the bullpen is already active. His stuff is not inducing any swing outside the zone and when he is getting swings they are dead center.
  18. Rivero has gotten through 5 IP. Off hand, I believe this is his longest outing of his year in what is the most important series of the season. He has dug deep and improved deep into the outing. You love to see it. Mudcats lead 2-0 and we head to the 6th and if I'm not mistaken (don't have the box up) they only have one knock.
  19. And, Peterson has another full count now to his second batter of the 3rd. Was in a 1-2 count. The early pattern of his outing is not favorable. He walks him. No outs. Man on first after the deep solo jack.
  20. Peterson gives up absolute bombs. He gives up another deep golf shot on another dead center 88 mph 'heater' (this time). When you have that velo you have to nibble and be deadly accurate. Tonight, Peterson is absolutely not. He had the pitcher's count. And then his pitches sailed. And, then he hung another one. 3-2 Kernels.
  21. Yeah, if he was sent, honestly, I wouldn't have blinked. He was motoring around those bags.
  22. Top of the first in Birmingham. Chourio walks. Chourio steals second. Clarke grounds out sharply to 3B. Martinez K's swinging. On to the bottom half. 0-0.
  23. Peterson gets three fly outs to complete a three up and three down 2nd frame. Much better results. 2-2 and we head to the bottom half. Garcia leads off with a very patient 'hit it where they pitch it' liner oppo single to RF. AND, Rivero rises up after the lead-off HBP: he K's 2 consecutive batters. Important here: no walks tonight. HUGE for the young and talented hurler.
  24. Rivero finally hit a batter. Man he can absolutely lose that inside heater. He's had several other near misses to righty bats tonight. He leads off the 4th nailing a guy inside. Nobody out.
  25. 1B Tyler Black hit a 2-RBI triple in the first frame. 2-0 Sounds early.
