  1. Fowler is apparently the new Mudcats Nick Mears. He debuted last night. They put him back on the bump tonight. Hokay then. Let's hope he brings it. He was fantastic in his debut.
  2. Johnson has walked the bases full. A younger more impetuous me would have ripped into manager Nick Stanley here. Now that I'm calmer and wiser, I know over-extending Johnson was planned six months ago in a manager's retreat on the Turks and Caicos. 🤭
  3. Like Alastre, Rodriguez is playing quite a bit more productively as well. He's also made some truly fantastic defensive plays in LF. He's hitting like 0.330's (?) with a plus 0.800 OPS in August I think?
  4. Another Birchard outing averting disaster via a 4:3 BB:K ratio. Sigh. T-Rats lead 4-1 as he is through 4 2/3 IP looking to make it five complete.
  5. Heck of a bases loaded escape by RHP Bo Bowman. Shuckers lead 4-2 in the 9th, Meanwhile, their old stablemate, LHP Brian Fitzpatrick had a nightmare debut for Nashville giving up 6 in 2/3 IP. Sounds led 3-2. They trailed 8-3 when RHP Blake Holub came aboard.
  6. The Fitzpatrick debut has not gone well. 4-3 Shrimp lead. Bases juiced. Nobody out. 2 H, 2 BB. He is at 27 pitches and has old friend C Brian Navarretto in a 1-2 count.
  7. Alastre has very sneakily been having much better AB's and much better luck on the balls he is putting in play. It's nice to wee him adapt and evolve at High-A. He'a still not really hitting for any type of power (1 2B and 1 3B all of July - this is his first XBH in August) but he is no longer a hole in the line up. At age 19, that is a big win.
  8. Sounds lead 3-2 and LhP Brian Fitzpatrick will be thrown right into the fire. He will debut and try to protect this lead. Good luck, Brian! C Jeferson Quero is back in the line up and has a Sac Fly, an RBI single (scoring Tyler Black after his double) and a BB. That will play!
  9. 6.0 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 4 K, 0 R for one RHP KC Hunt? "Waiter? Check, please!" 4-0 Shuckers bottom of the 7th as LHP Mark Manfredi looks to bounce back after his last outing.
  10. I do believe Burke enjoys playing in Knoxville. Who knew?! Adds a dub to a Johnson. AND, what's more? We have the good version of KC through 4.0 IP. Let's go! Shuckers lead 3-0 still.
  11. Alrighty gents. Farm chores await. Hunt just got a K swinging on a 3-2 pitch off the plate. Gotta love that. One down. Man on 1B. 1-1 to the next batter. Best of luck the rest of the way!
  12. Well, he gets a 3B Zavi Warren fielding error right off the bat. Sigh. Routine grounder absolutely ate him up on the bounce.
  13. Here's hoping we have good 2025 KC Hunt today. You never know with Hunt in 2025. Hoping for the best.
  14. Spain watches two pitches right down the heart of the plate. Strikes out on an off-speed pitch down and in below the zone. A Garrett Spain special. 😂 3-0 Shuckers and the threat is over. Nice to see them plate some early runs!
  15. After consecutive walks to Garcia and Warren. Wood grounds out hard to a LF'er subbing as 1B and what was a DP ball ends up in LF as a throwing error. 3-0 Shuckers. Love this trend. One out. Men on 1st and 2nd. Still top of 1st. This Knoxville starter is back on the mound after a month absence. That error hurts.
  16. He punishes a belt high hanging curve ball over the RF wall. Love to see him punish a mistake. I'll say it again, and the announcers have been talking about this all series: Knoxville may be the hardest ballpark in the Southern League to go yard.
  17. In a game thread. During a game? We will judge every player, every manager, every concession stands worker, every fan in attendance (I'm looking at you @MudcatsfaninBrunsCO). AND, then, in retrospect, take it all back and highlight the positives. My personal vendetta with Stanley goes back to him leaving in Cornielle last year after taking a come backer off his throwing arm and then leaving him in to give up 7 runs at Fredericksburg (I think it was the Fred Nats). That game t!cked me off. And, yes, it has colored my thinking. We need a cage match. I'm like a wife whose husband hasn't done his dishes 😅. Also, thank you for clarifying for the readers here. I already knew this. I'm simply being irrational.
  18. Can we talk about the cajones of one RHP Jose Nova?!? Incredible stuff. That 2-2 rising four-seamer atop the zone for the K. Cool as a cuke. Then the sinking tailing first pitch to a lefty - sinking tailing away below the zone inducing the grounder. AND, the savvy collect; tag; and throw to 1B by Adamczewski?! Come on now! THAT is winning baseball.
  19. Never a doubt. Reyes wins Player of the Game. Stanley wins Manager of the Year. Of ALL Time! (I'm kidding. Relax. I'm over-reacting in a Game Thread)
  20. I see what you're doing here. I believe you are lacking blue font. Not nice! Foul!
  21. Let's get miracle number two: Rodriguez, Holguin, or Walther coming up clutch. Come on now. We got this.
  22. Well, it looks like their Flores just might be trying to do our Reyes. Finkle is Einhorn!
