  1. I really wonder what the Brewers think in terms of some of these players. McCutcheon is almost out there every day no matter what the stats say about his ability to hit RH pitching. He's even in the field where he and Yelich make butchering seem like an art form. Hiura sits and sits (oh no he strikes out too much in a lineup we created of all or nothing hitters - can't have that) and yet he produces more than the crappy vets they put out there day after day. We keep wondering why they didn't add a hitter at the deadline? Maybe they have no problem with the way the offense has been assembled. I really am beginning to think that they just have an inflated view of the quality of the players they have acquired and trot out day after day. Maybe the best thing for this team is to fall apart over the next 7 weeks so a few in the front office will maybe consider that their decisions aren't working.
  2. Yeah those 2 days are really going to make ALL THE DIFFERENCE.
  3. From a Cumulative WAR point of view, he was worth the contract (8.4 WAR/$80M = $9.5M per WAR). Unfortunately it wasn't nearly as spread out as the Brewers may have liked since 73% came in one season (2018). On the other hand, we don't get to the 7th game of the NLCS in 2018 without that contribution. I think I'm not going out on a limb and say that when the Yelich contract is done we will look back at the Cain deal and think what a great contract.
  4. If you add his ISO to the tables, there clearly is a huge drop to the levels he was at when 21/22 and just starting in MLB. Exit Velocity is irrelevant if you are only converting that into hard hit singles. And, since he is just starting or goes into a slump whenever I comment that he hasn't been that bad, I am going to just stop defending him. He's a 10 ton anchor on a dingy.
  5. Having their winning streak end yesterday has clearly demoralized the Dodgers.
  6. To improve the offense they need to trade at least one of them. These FA Band-Aids just aren't going to put them over the top. And I will double down on my prediction that the Brewers miss the playoffs by 1 game and have the best record of all the non-playoff teams.
  7. Chris Martin trying to gift the Brewers a run. Brewer's Hitters - "No Thanks!"
  8. What a veteran move by Cutch to will Smith into a PB on that strikeout. A rookie couldn't have done that.
  9. Why do Brewers pitchers think they can groove one down the middle of the strike zone to good hitters and get away with it?
  10. Yelich mixing it up with a ground out to the left side of the infield. He's ambidextrawful.
  11. Still up to the offense to save the day from the poor pitching once again.
  12. Yep. You need people to have a reason to be there when the Brewers aren't playing. Restaurant or bars alone don't have the same impact as people living/working in that area.
  13. The Brewers play a unbalanced schedule with a majority of their games against the NL Central. Here are the cumulative WAR for Hitters and Pitchers on the NL Central Teams the Brewers play: Hitters = 43.6 WAR Pitchers = 21.6 WAR It shouldn't be surprising that the Brewers offense is ranking better in runs scored than the Brewers pitching staff as the level of competition is twice as difficult for the Pitchers compared to the Hitters. One could look at all the teams they play, but I don't have the time plus both WAR numbers should be adjusted by removing the Brewers data within them.
  14. This is kinda silly. Of course they still have a chance. They are only 1.5 games back of another flawed team. The problem isn't enough support from the Brewers Fans, it's that schedule and team makeup don't favor this team. Both the Cardinals and Phillies have easier schedules moving forward. The Brewers are worse than any team in the NL with a playoff spot in run differential which at this point in the season is somewhat indicative of their overall talent (#7 in the NL is about right). That's kind of amazing considering all the games they've played against the dregs of the NL central. They still have a chance, but they can't keep having a 10-game window that's a losing record. They need to start winning more than they lose for more than 8 days. And no surprise they haven't outside of their best start ever and that they are 3+ months of performing as a below average team.
  15. Don't know if the Rangers would be interested, but they've paid a lot for offense, but have little starting pitching. I would trade Woodruff to the Rangers for Josh Jung and prospects (lower/lottery). Jung has more upside than anything we have near 3B in the system, and Urias slides over to 2B. The rangers have Seager and Semian at 2B/SS for the long-term future, but they could move Semien to 3B and promote Foscue for 2B. Not sure what else the Rangers would need to include, but I like Jung. I'd also seriously consider bringing up Frelick and Wiemer for the OF (with Yelich the regular DH). Slot in Jung at 3B and Urias at 2B and that doesn't really cost much more than Woodruff and likely solves some of the offensive issues.
  16. Where in my post did I say "Downtown". There's more that could be done with where they put it, but as I said in my post, attending the game was the big driver at the time. Just now are the Brewers planning on ways to improve the local environment to increase revenue. A little late to the party, but yeah there's still one glass of beer left in that pony keg.
  17. Since Hiura is CLEARLY the platoon partner for Rusty, next year Yelich can DH.
  18. At least a no-hitter would justify wasting 2+ hours on this game.
  19. Any journeyman pitcher or prospect looks like a hall of famer pitching to the Brewers.
  20. The Dodgers are so far ahead they could blow a few games against the Brewers in the hopes they make the playoffs instead of a good team.
