  1. I was wondering how close Wiemer got behind Singleton when they both scored on that double. That's two pretty big boys running the bases.
  2. All three of them grade out (or project to grade out) better than Chourio at CF, so if Chourio is in CF, the others are on the bench or another team.. Of course Chourio is young and may improve, but there are limits how much his arm can improve. Plus, Chourio's bat projects to be elite as a LF. The others not so much.
  3. I have a hard time thinking Burnes would get significantly more than Strassburg's 7yr-$245M, particularly since there's a real possibility 2021 was his peak. There's a lot of risk and reward in that kind of deal. I'd definitely bring back Burnes and Woodruff in 2023 and hope the stars align and we can get to the WS. But if the season goes to hell, I'd trade them before the deadline, to whomever gave a suitable return.
  4. God, I hope not. That would mean that Mitchell, Ruiz, and Frelick all bombed.
  5. I don't know why they didn't plunk Pujols every time he batted. Burnes only got him once.
  6. How would the rule changes improve the effectiveness of bunts? The larger bags might help SB, and a pitch clock might also do so.
  7. This is really gratifying. If he can become a 15-20 HR guy rather than a 5-10 HR guy, he'll be a lot more valuable. Without more power, he'd probably have to hit .320 to be a top notch LF (assuming Mitchell or Ruiz will eventually be the starting CF).
  8. He's got a slight reverse split, so hitting it off a lefty isn't that big of a deal (though I think his slugging is a little lower vs LHP).
  9. I would bet he starts in Biloxi, unless his performance is really bad for the rest of the year. His performance in A+ justified a promotion next year, even if he hadn't been promoted this year. I would plan on a full season in AA.
  10. game context allowing, I might try to hit Pujols every time he comes up to the plate.
  11. Over/Under on 18 total runs. What do you pick?
  12. So, I can be happy that Montgomery doesn't seem to be a Brewer killer. That's something.
  13. I could maybe see the logic if it were anyone other than the Cardinals (or Philly or SD).
  14. What happens to players once the season ends? How many of them go to the AZ complex for more work and how many just go home? I know a lot of players play in one of the Latin American winter leagues.
  15. who was the most recent brewer minor leaguer to have a 3-homer game?
  16. so you want to see them breaking bats over their knees when they strike out? I don't know how you can read someone's mind.
  17. They're 7 games above .500 and have been underperforming for at least 6 weeks.
  18. I think signing Alexander was a good thing; he's a reasonable choice as a AAAA guy. Problem is he's pitched too much. AAAA guys shouldn't have more than 36 innings (half that for relievers). He's close to 70.
  19. Of course they're interested in an extension, they just haven't been offered enough money.
  20. We might have been able to extend Burnes and/or Woodruff if we weren't saddled with Yelich's contract. Have the OF filled with new guys (mostly) and bring in Turang and Feliciano, and save a ton of money on batters. But . . . Yelich is the albatross we bear.
  21. owner = budget. That's the importance of an owner. If they are getting involved in baseball operations, it's a negative.
