  1. That's like saying a million dollars and ten thousand dollars could get you a house worth more than a million dollars. Sure, there might be some trading partner where you can get a better deal packaging those two, but it's almost all due to Burnes' value.
  2. He's a terrible 2B, that's why he was moved to the OF, where he's still a work in progress. If we want to slide someone into 2B, we have it in Turang (Turang and Urias would both be some sort of super-utility, depending on if they bring back or bring in a 3B).
  3. I always thought "hit tool" meant hit for average. Power is a separate tool. I'm looking for him to bounce back next year with a repeat at Biloxi, too, but I can't abide the notion that his performance for the previous two months is more than "wretched." It's not like he was hitting .200, he was hitting .152 and .179 (iirc).
  4. It was averages for the two preceding months, not batting average during a full moon. You must really be a half-glass-filled kind of guy. Even if the glass is only filled with the dregs.
  5. where are the doomsayers to say the game is over because the Giants scored the first run? You guys are letting me down.
  6. has there been an announced reason why Yelich was moved to third in the order?
  7. you know you can skip reading his posts, right? I don't get anything from them, but I don't want to be a wet blanket.
  8. batting .152 in July and .179 in August is wretched. His prospect status has dimmed. I hope it's rekindled.
  9. Wong gone, enter Turang. McCutchen and Davis gone, enter two of Mitchell, Ruiz, Frelick, Wiemer. Narvaez gone, possibly enter Feliciano. So, 3-4 rookies.
  10. Let's just ignore Lorenzo's sour grapes.
  11. Valerio had a nice game. It would be good if he finishes the year well, because he had been wretched lately.
  12. I'll only respond to this, although I disagree with everything you wrote in this post. THIS YEAR, Burnes is pitching like an average #1 starter. Lauer, Peralta and Woodruff are solid (not great) #2-3. I'd agree that is perfectly fine IFF we had a top 4 offense. We don't. Ashby is smoke in the wind; you can't count on him for anything. He could make a leap next year, or he could be bouncing back and forth to Nashville. You can't wave a magic wand and get the command he needs.
  13. whomever of Feliciano or Severino is up next year will probably be close to sharing the ABs.
  14. Hey, we won the last 6 innings! Something to build on!
  15. Was Peterson actually throwing sliders? That's what game track showed. Topping out at 83, with the rest all in the 50s mph.
  16. But there's no place to put them, unless you aren't going with youngsters at CF. If they want to improve 3B or 1B or C, they need to do it with a trade. Other than Arenado, there's no FA who's a significant upgrade to Peterson at 3B.
  17. Earlier in the year it was earned--he pitched badly whenever he came in in a highly leveraged situation. He started to perform better.
  18. Who are these FA signings that can make a big difference? I looked around and the only one that would be more than a marginal change would be somehow convincing Arenado to come to MKE, which is not going to happen. They can make a marginal change by signing a reliever or two, but beyond that, there's not a lot of opportunity. It's quite possible our biggest FA signing will be Jace Peterson.
  19. Burnes is 17th in ERA out of 50 qualified pitchers in the league. So. . .average #1 pitcher Woodruff, Peralta and Lauer all pitched like decent #2 or #3 pitchers. That's fine if you offense is in the top 4, but that's not going to happen. Last year we had three aces (Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta) and a guy who would be a solid #2 on most teams--Lauer. And House was effective and Anderson more effective than Ashby, etc. that we've been throwing out there. So yeah, our pitching is fine if our offense was excellent, but right now it's not effective enough to make us even a playoff team.
  20. Not this year. And there's no guarantee they'll all be healthy going forward. My expectation is a few of them will improve, but not necessarily all the way back to 2021 effectiveness.
