  1. players who refuse to sign are "unsigned." It's not rocket science.
  2. It would have been simple. Just label them "unsigned" until they sign.
  3. For a while CC was (almost?) exclusively starting him against LHP, whom he has done poorly against. I see no support against the notion that he should have played more against RHP than LHP (other than hoping he could reverse his reverse-splits). If you take away 10 AB vs. LHP and give him 40 AB vs. RHP, his overall numbers would go up appreciably. Keston's OPS vs RHP is 1.069, and more than .250 more than the next best batter Caratini (.806).
  4. I'd think most will go to the AZ rookie league teams.
  5. Many players opt out of a commitment every year.
  6. I didn't figure out what the pending symbol meant until yesterday.
  7. Reason for Optimism: the ASG break comes at a great time for the Brewers.
  8. Cijntje is listed as 52 y.o. too. Maybe older players is the new moneyball.
  9. I assumed it meant he was pretty good across the board, but had no standout skill.
  10. I thought he had a chance to be something. Maybe he has a ML career with the Rays.
  11. I assume Satchell Norman isn't actually 52 years old, what is listed on the draft tracker.
  12. In the past, there was a thread set up to announce signings. In that thread, links to multiple scouting sites were provided for each player (except of course the players who didn't make any scouting lists). It was sort of a repository of information. And a moderator updated signings. If all that material could be provided, that would be great.
  13. In the early rounds, they should be going for a mix of high ceiling and high floor. In the later rounds, what's the loss in picking the guys with the highest upside? That's where you pick lottery tickets, not just organizational soldiers to fill a roster. You sign those after the draft.
  14. the trick is, we need to have the elite pitching. If that doesn't happen, we're screwed.
  15. anyone who thinks the Cardinals are a threat doesn't understand baseball. the only threat is (the performance of) our own players.
  16. Have you watched much baseball in the last 40 years? Even longer than that; Earl Weaver said the key to winning games is the 3-run HR.
  17. So I guess we're trading him to KC to get a player at the trade deadline next year.
  18. experience suggests you don't know what "floor" means regarding a prospect.
  19. What's amazing about this thread is that the hot takes exceed even the game threads, in spite of none of us knowing for years how this will all sort out.
  20. Thanks for substantiating my statement! God Bless.
  21. Adames hit .285 last year. Urias hit .249 with OPS near .800. biggest bang for our buck is in improving CF. With the flexibility of the players on the roster, can fit an elite bat anywhere, even if they aren't great in the field.
  22. I know one thing for sure. Right not isn't the right time to trade Hader. Perhaps two weeks ago, but I hope not.
  23. I really wish rosters expanded to more than 28 in September. 40 was overkill, but 30 or so would have been nice. I like guys up to PR or late inning defense, or emergency catchers or pitchers in a blowout.
  24. then you don't understand the vagaries of baseball.
  25. maybe because Hader has been one of the top relievers in the game of the past few years and Suter doesn't actually pitch well?
