  1. The Brewers gave up a lot of potential for 4 years of Yelich. Right now it looks great for the Brewers, but it will take a few years to tell if this was good, bad or ok for the Marlins. I do think Brinson should be sent down for his own sake, but that is the Marlins' call. It would probably be a good thing if a couple of the players become solid MLB players, just so that other teams will value trades with the Brewers better. If the Brewers win a series with Yelich, I'll be perfectly happy if all 4 become HOF players.
  2. Yes, several have made it that way. Josh, have you been giving JJ secret ice water transfusions, because I'd swear he must have ice water running through his veins to keep getting out of those jams that other pitchers leave for him.
  3. I'm fine with this if it is just so Arcia can right himself in AAA while Saladino takes the SS starts. At this point having Sogard PH for a pitcher in the 6th or 7th is better than Arcia doing it. I hope Sterns said to CC: "I'm bringing up Sogard so that he can be a backup/PH type player, not a s a platoon player".
  4. Saladino has just requested to be traded to 'whoever is playing Arizona'.
  5. And this one. Needs to be paired with the Baseball as a religion monologue from the start of Bull Durham.
  6. I'm glad I forgot the game was on and tuned in for the bottom of the 4th. I do wish the bases would stop attacking our pitchers.
  7. They can keep posting, as long as the Brewers and the players called out serve them a big ol' plate of crow by the end of the IGT.
  8. Two weeks ago they did not look like trash (24-11, three games better than the Brewers at the time). The Brewers got hot and the D-backs fell off a cliff. Of course the Brewers have had a hand in pushing them.
  9. September 14th Oh wait, I thought this thread was *when* will the Brewers win 90 games.
  10. It's late May, Knebel has only 2 saves, Nelson is close to two months away, Braun and Thames are out, and many players have under-performed at the plate. And oh yea, the Brewers are in first place, 10 games over and have the most wins in the league. This is proving to be a resilient team, and possibly a very special one.
  11. He would make it if he made it to July with mind boggling stats. I don't see that happening however. He's at 21 scoreless appearances. He's starting to get some buzz (https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/brewers-jeremy-jeffress-making-it-look-easy/). And if he hits 30, national media should be picking it up in a big way. Barring a melt-down, if he isn't selected he should get in the final vote (then it will be up to us).
  12. To be fair on the contract, no GM anywhere would have offered him a contract that pays him what a reliever pitching as well as he has this year would get. I'm guessing that he will make another 7-900K, based on his current usage, and realistically there will be some regression. So by the end of the year, it will look closer to a fair contract.
  13. I'm good with that. If Lynn starts one of the games, it's possible.
  14. Ugh. I mean, everyone pretty much knew it was coming, but still, ugh. While there are no guarantees it would have ended any differently, there is a possibility that the team's mishandling of Braun and the 10-day DL could very well have cost them the game on Tuesday. There was no way Bandy should have ever been used as a pinch hitter, but he was forced into that role during Braun's latest "day-to-day" episode. Braun has never been a fast healer, so I think this was pretty clear roster mismanagement that proved costly. This is exactly what I've been trying to explain. There is no such thing as Braun "healing" any injury. These are chronic problems with his back, calf, thumb, fill in the blank. He can go on the 10 day DL once or 20 times over the next three years and it doesn't change anything. The day he returns from the DL his back or whatever else could act up again. You simply can't put him on the 10 day DL every time something is bothering him, because something will always be bothering him. It will always ALWAYS be a tough call on when to ride it out and when to bite the bullet and DL him. But they tend to improve with rest and rehab. He gets to the point where he is a hopeless player, then goes on the DL and comes back and plays well for stretch. Then the nagging injuries crop up again. If Braun can only play half the time, but does so decently, that's still better than playing terribly through injures.
  15. Sophia is fine, I don't mind her at all. When Trenni was here (sadly for only one year), she was really good. The guy they replaced her with that had a somewhat similar first name was really terrible.
  16. End of June would be great. They're running out of bailing wire and duct tape to keep the rotation from falling apart.
  17. Amusing stat: Freddy's FIP after one game is -0.39. I didn't even know that you could get a negative number for it.
  18. If it's hard to pick up the ball off him, it will always be hard. That's not the type of thing batters where hitters adapt. But I do agree he struggles with location at times. He does have a good change, just had no reason to use it in Colorado, he knows better than that. He will need to work on control, work on changing things up a bit, etc. But that's true of any pitcher, always. Sure, he can go south, as any player can. But give me a pitcher with an electric FB and good off-speed stuff, and I'll take my chances. I thought the report was more along the lines that he is developing a change. I do agree it is a pitch to avoid throwing in CO. The main concern that I see with him throwing a change up is that if he tends to work high and his location is inconsistent, that change could wind up hanging a lot and getting hammered.
  19. So basically even though they knew what was coming, they didn't know where it was going to be, and by the time they saw it, it was too late to react properly. If he could harness a change with that exact same arm motion, he'd be absolutely devastating to hitters.
  20. JJ now has the best ERA in baseball (min 10 innings). It is a tough spot to hold, as one more run given up would put him at 13 and 2 more would put him in the mid 20's.
  21. If he keeps pitching like that, it will be hard to justify ever sending him down. However it did look like the Rockies were helping him out by swinging at a lot of bad balls. It's possible that his deception and changing location kept hitters so off balance that they had to swing before they could tell it was a ball. We should know a lot more after his next start. It's possible he'll go down no matter what, because of business / roster management reasons. But you have to think that if he keeps racking up the K's without giving up much of anything you have to think they will find a way to keep him in the rotation.
  22. Did anyone else notice the Brewers announcers last night when JJ came in. They acted almost surprised that JJ came in to start an inning instead of with runners on base. Then they were almost blase about his outing when he left the game - 4 batters faced, 4 outs.
  23. If Dubon had a functional leg, he'd probably be kicking himself for getting injured just now.
  24. The logic of this is to spread the word about the job JJ is doing this year, which so far has been incredible. Start a grass-roots campaign among the most tuned-in Brewers fans to propagate through social media and hopefully get some national attention. Whether or not it leads to an All-Star selection, some national attention would be good for JJ. He's earned it, but has been overshadowed by some other performances, and by not racking up saves. Also attention for a Brewers player means attention for the Brewers. That's always good to get.
