  1. Well I could see opposing catchers voting for Morgan and Fielder, but yeah the numbers make this poll worthless.
  2. Reading 6.08b APPROVED RULING: When the batter is touched by a pitched ball which does not entitle him to first base, the ball is dead and no runner may advance. It is pretty clear that should have been called a strike and not treated as a bunt. Roenicke should have argued that one, and then have Yuni swing fully on the next pitch.
  3. And the related nickname from JSO for the Brewers' opponents - Beer Battered.
  4. Parity in baseball - now there is only 1 team (KC) with a payroll lower than the difference between the Yankees and the next highest team (Phi).
  5. Here's the MLB drug policy. I know MiLB tests for a few more things, but I don't know if any of those are in the stimulant category. MLB drug policy - wikipedia As for the drugs on the list, only one has anti-inflammatory properties is famprofazone which metabolizes to methamphetamine. I can't find specific indications for this drug, which is unusual and likely means that it is not prescribed My speculation is this: Rodgers used some form of amphetamine derivative stimulant, tested positive once, tried to stop but had some problems with withdraw. I don't know the details, but if the first positive test only results in counseling, that might not be enough, and the teams / MLB /MiLB need to be more aggressive in treatments to prevent relapse. I also don't like how his agent tried to tie this to the carpal tunnel issue which seems dubious. The one thing that helped soften opinions here about Jeffress was the way Josh handled it.
  6. He made two throwing errors in the first three innings, & Don Money is a bit of a nut. That's honestly my best guess. Green made his second throwing error of the game in the top of the 3rd inning, & was replaced defensively before the start of the 4th (his turn in the order didn't come up in the bottom of the 3rd). I wouldn't consider Money a nut for this. The minors is the time to get these young players to take defense seriously, and if it takes benching after two errors in 3 innings, so be it.
  7. My preferred clinching scenario: ASAP Every other time the Brewers have gone to the post season, it's been down to the wire. This would be a good year to get some rest in and prepare for a run to the World Series.
  8. What are the options for next year? Are there any free agents worth getting, as I don't think there are good options in the minors right now.
  9. I don't know what to expect, but I want the Brewers to go 3-0, and on the final game untuckem and to a man on the post game interviews ask if TLR will complain about the Brewers cheating in STL because they stomped the Cards.
  10. Swinging on 3-0 was likely an attempt to boost the confidence of a slumping player, by giving them a swing at what would likely be a get-me-over fastball. I think the green light came from RR. The rest are basic fundamentals that the players in question should hear about.
  11. No, he was just trying to pick his nose (in a classy way), and missed.
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think players on the 40 man roster can be PTBNL's. That would eliminate Scarpetta and Peralta at least.
  13. someone mentioned he is a type A I believe This Elias-rankings-reverse-engineered-spreadsheet (via MLBTraderumors) has him as a Type A, but only by a few slots. I don't know enough about the Elias system to tell what kind of performance would move him up or down on that list.I don't think free agent types apply here, because his contract will be bought out, it won't expire. Also, even if it could apply, the Brewers would have to offer arbitration which they wouldn't do because K-Rod would likely accept it. As long as he accepts his role as a setup man, and doesn't totally suck, this is a great deal for the Brewers.
  14. I wouldn't go with the knee to the nads, but I'm not doing the hugging thing. Maybe a good firm handshake or high-five... remind me which hand to use to re-aggravate his wrist injury.
  15. The Packers used to do a lot of past / future consideration trades, which were just basically 'here's a freebie now, you'll give us one later if we need it'. JSOnline is reporting it as cash considerations, so the Twins may have given the Brewers a bag of balls.
  16. I see it like this - I want the Brewers to beat the Reds soundly. I want them to beat the Cards 90-0, burning out all their pitchers and I want someone on the Brewers to hit a foul ball to TLR's nuts. I've been hating the Cardinals for almost 30 years, nothing else in the division comes close. The only team that comes close to this is the Yankees, and that is because their finances are screwing up the rest of the league.
  17. Your prediction was too precise for Nostradamus. You would have had to say something like: In the 11th year of the new century, pain and injury will brew. A northern city on the water will, catch it, catch it, and catch it a third time. Which could apply to the Brewers, or Japan, or a host of other things.
  18. Instead of a Nyger Morgan bobblehead, they need to give out a Tony 'Plush'
  19. Dear Axford, I know you learned a lot from Hoffman last year, but you should have skipped the bit about blowing saves in April Sincerely, Long Suffering Brewers Fans.
  20. That's why they've been walking Braun. (Braun small ball - the ball looks small when it is hit so far away).
  21. If runs score, can they be called unearned due to an error on the ump.
  22. The manager's new look for the Brewers: The 1-2 hitters play long ball, while the 3-5 hitters manufacture a small-ball run.
  23. 104 93 in the regular season, 11 in the post season http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
