After watching Monasterio for a few days, he's obviously limited but has something to hang his hat on. That is, his hands through the zone are pretty quick, but doesn't try to do too much. Rather than the quick hands causing him to want to get the bat head out quickly & be obsessed with pulling & exit velo, he uses it to give himself that extra split second to let the ball travel & make a better decision on whether to attack. It results in getting some better pitches to hit, which usually get hit in the middle of the diamond, which is fine.
Sort of like our team approach in April, which hasn't completely disappeared but is much, much more intermittent.
