Everyone on this site is so scared/worried that Counsell will leave for another job. If anything was seen in this last playoff series(and throughout the seasons) is that Counsell isn’t a god and immune to making boneheaded and questionable decisions. It is extremely possible that there isn’t much difference between him and any other candidate. If anything, he has gotten stale here and made push button automatic decisions (like substituting players that play the same position in the batting order from game to game, for one). His main claim to fame is the use of his bullpen and having relievers starting games when his staff is in a bind. These practices are used across the league now. He has been good here (maybe even great), but I think it is the perfect time to make a change that is due.

What difference is that then losing 2 games in October. Actually, it might be preferable. They could always win that $15.00 game and have great seats.

That’s the thing with the MLB, always has been. Money rules. That is why the Yankees have won so many World Series. Teams like the Brewers, Mariners, and Cleveland will rarely win championships. Baseball needs to find a way to be more equitable to be taken more seriously.

I remember a time in the mid-80s when the Brewers had the #1 farm system in baseball. With prospects like Glenn Braggs, Billy Joe Robideau, B.J.Surhoff, Gary Sheffield, Bill Wegman, Dan Pleasac, Chris Bosio, Dale Sveum, and Teddy Higuera. That didn’t work out like everyone thought it would. I believe you’re kidding yourself if you know how Chourio and Quero will end up much less Misiorowski, Gasser, Wilken Rodriguez, Wiemer, Frelick, Mitchell etc.

The fantasy is thinking a $140 million payroll is enough to actually have a realistic shot of really competing for a World Series title.

The thing is all Attanasio is interested in is maximizing a profit. He isn’t that interested in winning baseball games. He only investments are associated with improving the “fan experience” when the fans want to improve player investment. This mess will only change when Attanasio sells the team to an owner that wants to win a World Series.

The question is will Attanasio et.al. have the guts to actually invest in the players rather than a new scoreboard, remodeled stadium, etc. to squeeze out a few xtra bucks. The Twins actually spend money on Correa, Buxton (although that one is still up for debate) and the starting pitching. Small market teams like the Twins have proven when you take a chance and invest in players, rather than focus on making a profit it.actually works out. It wasn’t that long ago that the Pohlad family was the joke of MLB. But bringing in an intelligent FO and actually taking a chance and spending those millions on players rather than making a profit can actually be a smart business move.

That is not true. Everything that happened in this series was deserved by everyone in this franchise. From the owner not spending more money to a FO who believes that picking up 2nd rate players will turn things around. Even a cheap team/owner like the Twins are more competent than this bunch of boobs.
