  1. I wonder where the Brewers could find a left handed power hitting third baseman who would have something like 18 HRs already this season. That would really help the offense. Oh yeah, we had a guy like that...twice...and let him go because Bill Hall makes a lot of money. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  2. Who, Lawson? And why, any near future pick of the Nuggets is likely to be worse than where Lawson was selected, unless Minnesota is out of money.
  3. I will say that he was a legend in pop music and many of his hits from the late 80s have withstood the test of time. There are many questions I have surrounding the facts of his death. Perhaps the biggest question on my mind though, is will he be black or white in Heaven?
  4. Somebody go check on David Hasselhoff!
  5. What about those two (bad) losses to Brazil and Italy before this, admittedly huge, win?
  6. I love Sabathia, but I certainly dont feel bad for him. He put it all on the line for the Brewers down the stretch last year and cashed that in for something like 160 million dollars, if he is Cy Young, ineffective, or hurt, he has made his pay check. I do want the Yankees to suffer for every over paid player they have on their team.
  7. Sign him to a year deal, prorated for the 5 million he wants with a mutual option/opt out for another 5 million for next year. We have to give up NO prospects and he would be at least as good as the tier of pitchers available after the hurt trio of Bedard/Peavy/Halladay and Cliff Lee. In other words I dont see him as any worse than Jarrod Washburn. He just seems to make the most sense right now especially after the news that Gamel and Escobar and untouchable.
  8. The problem is that the Brewers probably havent told him what their plans are for him, at least I dont think they have. If they told him "no matter what you do you are staying up all year" or "no matter what you do you are going back down after interleague play" I think Mat could relax and play how he knows he can. If he is pressing to impress it could lead to him not being as selective as he normally is and putting balls into play that are easier outs.
  9. How would it be handled by players in Japanese leagues that are under contract there and then "posted" by their Japanese Teams?
  10. Also I think ear infection is code or just plan all-encompassing explanation for conditions that trainers cant put their fingers on. Denard Span was placed on the DL for an inner ear disorder as well. What the heck is going on?
  11. If you have a cat named Vincent, why not name the dog Jules in honor of Pulp Fiction. Maybe on his food bowl at the bottom of the bowl you could engrave the same words the Jules had on his wallet in Pulp Fiction. Or you could put those words on his dog tags or collar.
  12. The hitting coaches keep changing and the hitters have stayed pretty much the same the past 3-4 years. At what point do we start getting rid of the players and not the hitting coaches?
  13. This "I like how Badger was able to influence this whole thing by adding the word "imminent". Brian has his sources over at brewerfan.net, but I'm not so sure the "imminent" thing was part of the discussion until this thread was made. No doubt people who frequent this site and Brian's flooded Haudricourt and McCalvy's inboxes, but I suspect the fact that the word "imminent" was used was why both of them reacted so boldly in shooting down these rumors." From a thread over on sportsbubbler.com that has the title "Imminent trade?" Yeah about 6 posts in on that sportsbubbler site and those guys are talking about expecting the trade to be announced after the game. Also it looks like to quickly changes to thoughts of Trading Trevor Hoffman for prospects. What a debacle of a thread.
  14. The rumor was for a front of the line starter. The only way Marquis sees the frontlines is if he joins the Marines.
  15. If it is a role player type maybe Scott Hairston in San Diego who went on the DL about 8 or 9 days ago is a bit piece in a Peavy deal, I dont know.
  16. I caught this as I was channel surfing last night. The heading at the bottom of the page was "breaking down the NL Central" and from what I could gather the analysts were picking who would win the Central outright. I only caught two answers, but they were provocative enough to relay here. Eric Young's pick to win the Central as of June 11, 2009: The Houston Astros Eduardo Perez's pick to click as of June 11, 2009: The Cincinnati Reds. That is all.
  17. 2nd best in the West barely makes LAA a pest in pursuit to wear the vest of the AL Wildcard.
  18. MLBTradeRumors contacted me about the rumors. I pretty much just relayed the things I've relayed here. They told me that if I got anything confirmed to let them know.So am I to understand that mlbtradeRUMORS isnt reporting the rumor until it is confirmed?? Odd since their name is RUMOR and this is precisely what it is. Oh well. That is why I come here and not other places.
  19. For what it is worth MLBtraderumors pretty much just posts things that are printed, I rarely see them reporting hearsay. Haudricourt's lack of reporting isnt surprising.
  20. If it happens I want my tag changed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gifIf it doesn't happen it should be changed to Nostradumbass...or we could leave the Petty moniker...im cool either way.
  21. awesome, thanks bob.
  22. I guess I dont really care if this deal comes down tonight, tomorrow or next week. I just want to know who is involved so we can start breaking it down. I wont be disappointed at all if this "deal" doesnt happen until, say for example Sunday night...I just want some juicy details.
  23. I doubt Hardy in involved. Parra on the other hand...
  24. Im less thrilled with Bedard seeing as he is a FA and had some injury issues as recent as last year. At least with peavy we are looking at solidfying the rotation for the next 4 years.
