  1. If Zito were a Free Agent would you give him a 4 year 40 million dollar deal? There is your answer.
  2. I dont see what everyone is so mad about. It isnt like this team is in first place or even a game out and trying to distance themselves like the Cubs or Cards. It isnt like we are running away with a division like the Dodgers and Phillies and trying to get ready for the playoffs. Due to injury (Bush, Suppan) an ineffectiveness (Parra) we need warm bodies to even remain competitive. Even if we had Sabathia instead of Looper we might be in the same position. It really isnt Melvin's fault. I say we reload for next year this offseason and go all out.
  3. Why not consider voodoo? Its about as effective as chiropractors.
  4. I like it, the hardest part about creating a successful blog is regular updates and insightful information.
  5. I dont know why people dont like the guy. I think its pretty funny. Where can I get a clip of the Fielder un-tuck spot?
  6. This team is more than 4 1/2 games back. They need to pass 3 teams to make the playoffs. Being just 4 1/2 games back is a big deal itself if you are chasing 1 team, but when you need to be better than 3 teams that makes things much more challenging. I suppose we could trade Gamel or Escobar for Jon Garland and Doug Davis, but the reality is with the injuries to Weeks, Bush, Suppan and Parra and Looper being so disappointing even two pitchers like Garland and Davis dont make us all of the sudden better than the Cards and Cubs. I dont agree with your gripe. This team will compete next year and Doug knows that.
  7. What exactly are the Indians plans for Matt Laporta? He is 24 now and getting dangerously close to non-prospect status due solely to his age. They traded Garko but everything I have read is that they did so to make room for Andy Marte and first base and are not calling LaPorta up. He will be 25 next season, will he be an option for the Indians if Martinez and Marte are at firstbase?

  9. If anyone should have learned a lesson from Hall it is Corey Hart and other arby and pre-arby players. Hall accepted a longer deal buying out his arby and some FA years and he struck gold now that he stinks. Hart decided he didnt want the security and wanted to go year to year and it looks like it is going to bite him in the backside. I know players dont expect to fail or decline, but it is possible, Hall and Hart have shown that. Perhaps people like Braun and Longoria arent as crazy as some think for signing those quick long term deals. Gallardo should take notice, as one arm injury would pretty much ruin his chance for a big payday.
  10. No Jon Heyman from SI is speculating that the Brewers might only be able to nab Halladay if they give up Parra, Escobar and Gamel. Why not just give them Lawrie too while we are assuring ourselves of lean years from 2011-2015.
  11. I would prefer a deal built around Parra and Salome than including Gamel or Escobar. Heck they can have Hardy, Parra and Salome right now and they can flip JJ in the offseason or offer him arby after next year and get 2 picks.
  12. Im starting to come to the idea that we keep him for the next two years and trade Hart and Hardy for pitching and replace them with Gamel and Escobar.
  13. That people believe this was staged is almost as disturbing as the guy who shot the video. While not taken to the same extreme, it is the same line of thinking that leads to the "she was asking for it" defense in a sexual assault case. People just have a hard time believing that women DONT want men to objectify and violate them.
  14. Authorities could start a pretty good suspect list simply by pulling hotel records of places she has stayed at from the time it was originally posted (February I suppose) and going back about 6 months to college football season 2008. It appears that this goon was in a room next to her. At the same time they could track a lead from the Dailymotion website from the person who originally posted it. Whomever originally posted it must know who filmed it, or where they got it from. I think some good detective work could turn up the person responsible.
  15. I suppose one thing to keep in mind is that perhaps JJ Hardy could be part of a Halladay swap. If he is, the Jays get a proven major league shortstop for 1.5 years, and with it most likely 2 comp picks (from Hardy) that they would lose with Halladay being traded. The Brewers could obviously ship the requisite pitching along with Hardy in the form of prospects, but including Hardy would lessen the need to include Gamel and/or Escobar.
  16. I really hope they dont trade Escobar or Gamel. We need both of those guys to be competative into the next 5 years.
  17. Yeah pretty much everyone has it correct (except the knucklehead in the stands). The runner is only out if there were two runners standing on the same base at the same time. Simply running backwards towards 2nd means nothing, except of of course that the runner didnt know the situation.
  18. The team that acquires him gets him under control for 2 seasons, even if they DONT resign him. Remember that Miguel Cabrera with 2 years left netted top prospects Andrew Miller, Cameron Maybin and three other prospects including now serviceable major leaguer Burke Badenhop and two others. I still think that the Red Sox make the most sense right now. I would want 4 players at least. My demand would start with Clay Buchholz and Lars Anderson. I would then ask for either Justin Masterson or Manny Delcarmen and then finally someone like Stolmy Pimentel.
  19. DeRosa has a torn tendon sheath in his wrist. If I am not mistaken, same things Weeks is out for. Right now the Cards are not saying how long he will be out. DeRosa Suffering Torn Tendon Sheath [Note: in the process of going in to make the link clickable, I noticed that it was one of those that would disappear quickly; I replace it with the link to the whole story --1992]
  20. The extra first basemen should be fine as pinch hitters. Figure Pujols plays at least 4 innings, Even if Prince plays 3 innings he is likely to get just one at bat anyway.
  21. Looks like Billy died of boring old heart disease and not that bump on the head he took on that airplane.
  22. The most hilarious thing is that both McGehee and Derosa were Cubs last year.
