  1. Oshkosh West High School, 1996. Claims to fame, back to back Division 1 Boys basketball champs in 05-06 and 06-07. Famous alumni; I have no idea, but with a school of an enrollment of over 1500 I would think we could claim something better than this guy. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b3/Hornswoggle_with_shilelagh.jpg WWE midget wrestler Hornswaggle. I have no idea how I know this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornswaggle
  2. I used to tip about 20% of my total bill, with a $3 minimum tip. But now places like pizza and sub joints are charging a delivery fee. I assume that goes to the driver, so I subtract that from my tip. I usually tip just $2.00 now, if at all.
  3. His weight was the first thing I noticed when I turned on the rebroadcast.
  4. I think you are right about the DL counting. For example, if Braun has to go on the DL for his back and comes off the DL on September 2nd, that would not preclude him from playing in October. Same with Yovani.
  5. why not send them Bill Hill too, they couldnt possibly turn down a deal for Hill.
  6. That isn't a terrible solution to the soccer problem, but I think what makes it fail in the US, and this goes for Hockey somewhat as well, is that there is never a defined moment when one team is "on offense" - or maybe it is because those moments last for such a small time. In baseball teams are up to bat, that is pretty clearly defined time to score, football there are prolonged drives, downs and completely different players on offense and defense, not to mention different positions. Basketball is the most similar to soccer or hockey, but with the shot clock and the control that players have over their possessions and the high scoring, it is set apart from soccer.
  7. I think that might be against the rules in baseball. Anyway, a creative idea that if everything fell exactly as planned would be lucky to generate 200k, somehow I dont that is the tipping point for Mark A to dig into his pockets for the other 124.8 million it is going to cost to sign him long term.
  8. Europe seems to be small enough that they could form one Championship league and soon afterward be close to what the NBA is. Put teams in Madrid, Paris, Rome, Athens, Berlin, London, Lisbon, Barcelona, Amsterdam, etc. etc. and you get a 20 team league going with all that international talent and the strength of the Euro in comparison to the American Dollar and soon the NBA would be MLS Soccer.
  9. Those interested in Poison would probably also be interested in: Rocklahoma
  10. I thought he was called the "doorman". Id just look up 1992 Brewers Road Jersey.
  11. Starting to worry about it? It has been a problem for a long time. No HRS = no runs at all.
  12. two words: White Trash.
  13. The Black Keys are worth the price of admission by themselves, the rest is gravy. I am pretty sure they are playing Milwaukee on September 5.
  14. What is he supposed to do? Well, I'd like him to prepare detailed scouting reports on upcoming pitchers, for one thing, especially pitchers that our lineup hasn't seen before. I'd like him to look for tendencies from the pitcher and be able to at least give the lineup a general briefing on what they can expect. I'd like for him to review video on our players who are not performing expectations and see if he can give them any additional information on something they may be doing differently that is hurting their swing or approach. I'd also like him to have our players' vision routinely checked to make sure they are all seeing the ball as well as they could be. Telling them not to "swing at balls" doesn't really cut it IMO. This is the 21st century and there are plenty of technologies available that can be used to best prepare a lineup and correct a problem. If the job is so simple that any idiot can do it, I guess MLB coaches are very fortunate to be able to collect that free paycheck. I don't know what more evidence there can be of a lack of discipline in the lineup to show that there is indeed a glaring problem. And you know he isnt already doing this things because...? I mean really, what is Skaalen not doing that makes you want him fired? He didnt load this team up with high strikeout, low OBP hitters.
  15. Maybe they should clear out some of the free swinging, low average hitters then. Unless you think a new hitting coach is bringing magic beans with him that can turn or guys into a bunch of selective, high average hitters.
  16. I believe the thread is about the homestand and the results of it, not the totality of the season. Yes, being in second is great. So are having expectations for a change, but this homestand has to be the worst in 25 years. Never has so much been on the line and this franchise performed this poorly, unless there was a homestand where we went from first to second this late in the season and went 0-7 or worse.
  17. So what is the new hitting coach supposed to do? You think Skaalen is telling them to swing at balls?
  18. Cubs = 9 runs Cubs = 7 hits, 1 walk, 1 HBP. every runner has scored, by my count.
  19. Ray Bay playing for the Tampa Bay Rays? Awesome.
  20. Ray Bay playing for the Tampa Bay Rays? Awesome.
  21. Give me a break. Skaalen isnt at fault for a sudden slump. Just like Wynegar wasnt at fault and all the countless hitting coaches ahead of him.
  22. Dave Bush has only allowed 5 baserunners the entire game - through 7 innings. That is pretty good. (They've all scored)
  23. Their backup could cost them 10 million dollars, which is what he makes this year. If they offer arby, I doubt a team is going to offer him more than 2 yrs 10 million and I further doubt they would be willing to toss the Yankees a first or second round pick for him.
  24. Maybe, but I dont know if there is a team (Giants?) that will want to sign a 37 year old catcher to a 8-10 million dollar a year contract, which is what Pudge would get from the Yankees in arbitration. And I am sure the Tigers wouldnt have offered him arby either.
  25. Smart move by ATL, they knew they couldnt, or wouldnt out bid teams like the Yankees or Angels for Teixeira anyway, and turned him into a Lyle Overbay type 1b, who is more than serviceable and they can have him for 3 more years at least.
