  1. Adam Jones and Delmon Young. Although pogo might disagree. I would avoid young pitchers though. I would target guys who have underachieved due to injury but you expect them to bounce back. Ben Sheets would be a good one. Pedro Martinez as well. Jack Cust perhaps.
  2. I like the Power-Speed stat, dont get me wrong, but I also feel that the Walks-Doubles stat is far superior when making lineup decisions. edit: Whoopsie, another post I forgot to turn blue....
  3. Ben Sheets - 29.2 How do we make a decision based upon this stat.
  4. I heard that some conditions similar to what is suspected with Baldelli can be life threatening. Sad, he was such a talent.
  5. Prince really isnt 5'11" he is actually 5'7" I dont know why baseball people will not acknowledge this, and he isnt 270, it is closer to 300.
  6. Awesome prize Ross, what size is it?
  7. Prince's dad was hitting bombs until age 32 or so, we wont have prince for 9 more years, so I am not worried at all.
  8. ^^ best part of story. Way to go.
  9. I might, if you are interested in an Auction league, draft held this Saturday in Milwaukee. I might have a spot or two open, have to wait and see, but should know by the end of day tomorrow. PM me if you are interested.
  10. I just watched "I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry" and it was pretty disappointing. It starts off really stupid, and I mean, really really bad for the first 15-20 minutes. Then it gets slowly better, sort of the classic Sandler movie, but then when it seems it might redeem itself for overall value, it goes on for another 15-20 and just peeters out. Overall I wouldnt recommend it.
  11. Wow. What a game between Memorial and Oshkosh West. The 4th quarter began with Memorial leading 49-24. West scored the first 21 points of the quarter, but it was not enough, as Memorial (read the Maymon show) hung on 61-58. Jeronne Maymon scored about 25 of his team's 30 some points in the second half. He is a beast. He's gonna be real good. Great run from West the last 3 years.
  12. This would be a travesty if they moved. IMO, and from talking to many Wisconsinites, Arizona is a much more popular vacation destination for Wisconsinites, both around spring training and otherwise. Ive done the AZ Spring training vacation once, and loved it. I cant wait to get back, but to be honest, if the Brewers moved to Florida, I doubt I would travel to Florida to see them..I might still travel to AZ and watch the other teams that are there.
  13. #2 Madison Memorial v. Oshkosh West Brookfield Central v. #3 Wauwatosa East The Oshkosh West Germantown game was a fantastic overtime game. One of the better games Ive seen (listened to on the radio).
  14. He really should. Carpenter isnt going to be 100% this year and the Cards are in rebuild mode. He isnt going to play like this the rest of his career, so bite the bullet and get it done.
  15. So what are you saying? I am saying that he had a good minor league career and made it to the Majors, albeit for just 10 games. I'd call that successful on the continuum of a MLB draft pick's career. He certainly has to be better than guys like Tyrone Hill, Kenny Henderson, JM Gold, Chad Green, etc.
  16. June 4, 2002: Drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 1st round (39th pick) of the 2002 amateur draft. Player signed June 9, 2002. June 24, 2004: Traded as part of a 3-team trade by the Oakland Athletics with Mike Wood to the Kansas City Royals. The Houston Astros sent Octavio Dotel to the Oakland Athletics. The Houston Astros sent John Buck and cash to the Kansas City Royals. The Kansas City Royals sent Carlos Beltran to the Houston Astros.
  17. I am not going to argue FVA v. City Conference because it isnt close, the City Conference is better year in and year out, but every year it seems, there is an FVA school that can hold its own or even be better than the best City school. For those outside of the Fox Valley, what Oshkosh West has done the past 10 years or so has been amazing. But getting to your point, I'd have no problem reseeding for the 8 teams that make it to the state tournament, but as far as reseeding for the sectionals (i.e. sending Milw. Washington or Bay View to play the likes of Hudson or Eau Claire) is silly. They (the Milwaukee Schools) are going to have to beat a Hudson or Eau Claire sooner or later and they are going to have to fight through schools in their own conference at some time as well. I would imagine that the WIAA would just as much like to keep it a "state tournament" and have schools from all over the state experience a weekend in Madison rather than having 6 City schools a school from Madison and a school from the Fox Valley every year
  18. Again if anyone is interested in participating in an Auction league and drafting live in-person in the Milwaukee or Oshkosh area (a determination will be made later, once we have all the people), send me a PM. Entry fee is $25.00
  19. I dont know why we'd trade him after next year....unless that was a throwaway line as well.
  20. So, any Auction League vets want to give some advice? Oh, and by the way, I am trying to organize a LIVE Auction draft in either the Milwaukee or Oshkosh area on March 29, I think we have 8-9 teams right now, room for 3 more or so, PM if you like. $25 entry fee.
  21. Would you rather have 1 v. 2 in the quarters or not at all, I guess is what I am saying. And by-the-by, West beat Memorial and Vincent to win the last 2 state titles, I think in a 3 year span they lost all of 3 games, beating plenty of City Conference schools along the way...but that is neither here nor there... What I am saying is, you could put all of those schools (Washington, King, BayView, Vincent) in different sectionals and they could all get beat before state and never meet. Or, if 1 and 2 make it to State and are on opposite ends of the Bracket, if one gets beat before the final, the two never meet anyway.
  22. He Apirk, can you change your thread title to "Fantasy Baseball Auction Draft Strategy"? I would like to get a thread going on that.
  23. He wasnt a real first rounder in the sense nobody else was going to take him, but that is true of many players. Fact is, he was a first rounder, and he played as well as if not better than most who are drafted in a similar spot. He validated Beane's belief in his major league abilities, IMO.
  24. Dont worry about what you paid for guys, worry about who you get. Who cares if you pay 45 for A-Rod if you get some steals somewhere else. Overpaying for old guys is bad though, I dont like Abreu, but maybe that is because I sold low on him last year....really low. Your pitching looks solid. Offense looks average, but no glaring holes in any category.
  25. In reality, Brown would be classified as one of the more successful players selected in the late first round of the MLB draft. Playing at AAA and even getting a callup while maintaining a .370 OBP in the minors is pretty decent. A lot of guys drafted in the mid 30s never even make it to AAA.
