  1. Sale having to pitch in game 2 really does nothing for us because we can no longer face the Braves. The optimal scenario is a close Braves win in Game 1, where the Mets have to burn through one of Severino/Megill and some of their A relievers, followed by a non-blow out game 2 in which they burn more A relievers and whoever of Severino/Megill doesn't pitch Game 2. They would then be left with none of Severino, Megill, Manaea, and Quintana to pitch Game 1, unless they decide to go with Manaea on three days rest. And Severino and Megill would be taken out of the WC round entirely. An extra inning game in Game 1 would be icing on top of the cake.
  2. Yeah. Throwing 106 pitches today, seems pretty clear Rea is off the postseason roster.
  3. Intentionally walking Marte to get to Alvarez is interesting...
  4. Yeah. And I don't think we'll have to worry with the way Rea is pitching.
  5. Much better that inning from, Rea.
  6. Being heavily hinted that they wouldn't.
  7. Someone's ready for vacation....
  8. I mean it's quite unlikely to stay that way if he keeps giving up this quality of contact. Mets have a .506 xBA right now and everything except for two batted balls has been hard hit.
  9. Rea giving up a ton of hard contact.
  10. With the Padres taking an early lead over the DBacks, we're on track for Brewers-Mets and no games played tomorrow.
  11. Why would there be a "strict pitch count" on Colin Rea, Rock? He's here to eat this. No way he's pitching in the Wild Card round.
  12. We'll see ya next season, Rea.
  13. The only scenario that I’d really like to avoid is one which results in us playing the Braves with Sale, Fried, and Lopez lined up against us. Otherwise, all other scenarios are fairly palatable. Despite last weekend and last year, I see no reason to fear the Dbacks as they’re struggling to defeat a San Diego team that is playing for nothing and resting guys right now after losing a series to the Giants.
  14. Yep. We're going to want to be cheering for the Dbacks tomorrow, as that would ensure that the Mets have to go to Atlanta and play at least one game regardless of what happens in our game tomorrow.
  15. Well, it's almost certainly going to be the DBacks or Mets now.
  16. Mets playoff odds just shot up.
  17. I would imagine Ashby is coming out of the bullpen next.
  18. I don't. Last thing we need is Chourio being involved in a play at the plate.
  19. To his defense, that wasn't a strike.
  20. Man, Myers looks as good as he has all season and on 3 days rest....
