  1. Mitchell may have more raw power than Frelick, but Frelick has actually demonstrated more in game power than Mitchell in the minor leagues. And that's unlikely to change barring a complete swing alteration from Mitchell. Frelick is more than just a leadoff hitter. He's one of the best minor league hitters period. There's a reason why Frelick is a consensus top 100 prospect and Mitchell is not.
  2. Exactly. The better measure of Woodruff's value is the Castillo trade. And Woodruff is a better pitcher than Castillo...
  3. I'll gladly take Arraez off the Twins' hands. But I'm not giving up Burnes or Woodruff to do so. He's got a limited skillset (granted, a high-level one) and is only under control for three more seasons...
  4. BTV has Woodruff wayyyyy undervalued. No reason why Burnes should have more than double Woodruff's surplus value.
  5. Teams have literally called them about the Big 3 over the last few weeks. The offers obviously weren't to their liking and they still want to contend this year, so they subsequently withdrew them from the market. I wouldn't assume that they don't have a plan.
  6. Upgrade catcher and I'll be quite happy with where we're at lineup-wise. I personally think Turang is going to end up on the opening day roster. He's already spent a year and a half in AAA and has finally begun to show some signs of real power. Above all, though, he would be a huge upgrade over Wong on defense. With how heavily our team is built on run prevention, that could really prove to be the deciding factor. It seems to me like the FO's effort to trade Wong is more of an indication of the confidence they have in Turang to take over.
  7. Jesse Winker is not going to be our everyday right fielder under any scenario. They may try to put him in the OF from time to time to give Yelich the opportunity to DH, but even then, he would be limited to LF. He's literally the worst defensive outfielder in the major leagues.
  8. Thing about the Mets is I don't know if they have the players and prospects to offer us a "king's ransom" like a team such as the Dodgers does. Sure they have Francisco Alvarez, but their system is really lacking in high-level pitching, which we would presumably want if dealing Burnes or Woodruff.
  9. Except for the fact that we would have exclusive negotiating rights with Jansen as he would be under our control for the next two years. Given that he's a former 16th round draft pick who has made less than $5 million in his MLB career so far, as @sveumruleshighlighted, I think he would be quite tempted to take the life-altering, guaranteed money right away, especially when doing so would enable him to play close to home in front of his family and friends. To simply say "they go wherever the most money is" and "with their lifestyle they can live anywhere they choose to begin with" is very narrow minded and not necessarily in accordance with reality. Family and comfortability are often just as big of concerns for these guys as money. FWIW, I know for a fact that Jansen maintains a home in his hometown of Appleton. So, sure he can live anywhere he chooses, but he's literally already chosen Wisconsin as one of his places of residence.
  10. Seemed like you meant this offseason, which is why I included the above series of tweets. I think it's clear at this point that all three will be on the roster come opening day. As far as the entirety of the season, I do think all bets are off if we're out of contention for some reason and that they'd be a good bet to be traded at the deadline in that scenario. However, since I, along with most experts, expect us to be in contention throughout the season on the strength of our top-flight pitching, I don't think trading them in-season is especially likely. The FO has seemingly learned its lesson from the Hader fiasco.
  11. As I said, there's a real possibility that we would be able to extend Jansen given that he's from Wisconsin, which would make parting with a prospect worth it imo. If we're going for it this year, then this makes sense.
  12. That's fair. I think it would help that he's from Wisconsin and would maybe be more amenable to signing one or two year extension past his current two years of control. We'll see what happens.
  13. Gotcha. Though, he did put up a .826 OPS against LHP this season. So, he's not a Keston Hiura with huge reverse splits. I just think he's a sleeper player that will continue to hit at a high level even with increased playing time. I'd be content with Vasquez, too.
  14. I don't get Marquette fans. They always come across as a bunch of WI wannabes with a sizable inferiority complex. Like they're incensed they didn't get into the better school. Great game, though, and a huge bounce-back win early in the season after the late-game Wake Forest collapse. Another big game this week with undefeated Maryland coming to town.
  15. Can I ask why you would prefer Vasquez over Jansen? Jansen is younger and a better hitter. Just screaming as a potential all-star breakout if given regular playing time...
  16. How about this? Yelich LF Frelick CF Jansen C Winker DH Adames SS Tellez 1B Urias 3B Mitchell/Taylor RF Turang 2B
  17. That's where Daniel Freitag hopefully enters the picture.
  18. Exactly. Our offense was actually good enough to go to the playoffs this year. Where we fell short was the marked decline in our run prevention, including on defense. Better health from our starting pitchers and better overall defense, and things are really looking up.
  19. Settle down there, guy. I know you feel like a big shot with your 47 whole posts, but if you actually bother to do some reading, you'll notice the word "possibility" in that quote. Nowhere did I flat out say or predict Frelick is GOING to be the Rookie of the Year. I think there's stronger candidates, like Corbin Carroll or Jordan Walker. Merely that it's a realistic possibility that would incentivize the Brewers to have him on the opening day roster, which is far from a stretch considering he's a top 50 prospect in the game and has a highly developed hit tool. And he would only have to finish in the top 3 of the vote...But you keep making crap up and I'm sure that'll get you far here.
  20. We've all been screaming about our lack of high-level hitters. Here's the company Winker was in against RHP from 2017-2021...
  21. I believe he was referring to the Renfroe savings.
  22. "Rose tinted view"??? Literally all of the "neutral" prospect evaluators (BA, MLB Pipeline, etc.) have Chourio as a 60-grade defender (same as Mitchell) and Frelick as a 55-grade defender. I will give you that I think Mitchell is the best of them all at this stage, but the OF defense would still be really good with Mitchell in RF and Frelick in CF. They've proven themselves to be virtually interchangeable in AAA. If you're concerned about Frelick's lack of power, then what about Mitchell? Mitchell's minor league SLG % is more than 50 points lower than Frelick's, and that ain't changing without a complete swing adjustment...
  23. Except for the small fact that literally no one has done that...
  24. Frelick is a plus defender in CF himself. And Chourio was one of three gold glovers in the entire minors this year for his work in CF. He's currently projected as a 60-grade CF. Mitchell has a cannon for an arm, which is why he would play in RF until Wiemer is called up.
