  1. A 32 year old Wong at $10 mil isn't going to get you much more.
  2. 141 OPS+ in 2021 and 2020 is a heck of a lot of upside with Winker. And still only 29. He's not playing in the field, so the only person affected is Yelich.
  3. Literally proposed a Winker for Wong swap when it was initially rumored that the Mariners were interested. Sure, Winker had a down year last season, but he's still only 29, and had an OPS+ of 141 the previous two seasons. He's your regular DH. Toro is the filler in this deal. His numbers look like Arcia's....
  4. We might be able to buy out one or two of his FA years while we're at it. Would absolutely love that move.
  5. Yep. Between Kneuppel, Yalden, and Essegian, that's a level of offensive talent that would rival our Final Four teams.
  6. It’s certainly possible he follows the Tyler Herro route, but at the moment we are the rumored favorites to land his services so I’ll be optimistic.
  7. Me likey very much.
  8. 2.7 this year. Far from unreasonable to think he gets a bump of 0.3 from the banning of the shift and a potential increase in time at DH. Why he's ultimately projected by Steamer to do so. Optimistic would be like 4.0 and above, which would be a return to all-star caliber production.
  9. Not really. He's literally projected for a 3.0 WAR by Steamer.
  10. I don't see the logic of trading Renfroe, who had one year left, and then going ahead and signing a worse player on a one year contract. That pretty much negates the payroll space you created while providing you with lesser production and reestablishing a roadblock for your youngsters.
  11. Here's the literal evidence I presented with my opinion: 1) Frelick was a college draft pick whose calling card was his elite hit tool. Those are precisely the types of guys who move quickly through the minors as Frelick already has. Next step in the development process: facing MLB pitching. 2) He's slashed .331/.403/.476 in 638 at-bats during his minor league career with one of the highest contact rates in the minors. This is highlighted by his hitting .365/.435/.508 against AAA pitching, including more walks than strikeouts. Again, nothing left for him to prove in the minors. 3) The Brewers are incentivized to have him on the opening day roster next season as they could be eligible for an extra draft pick if he finishes in the top 3 of the rookie of the year vote. Considering the above AAA stats and his 70-grade hit tool, that is certainly a plausible outcome. Overall, all of this evidence points to him being on the MLB roster by late April at the latest, if not by opening day. Your evidence??? Keston Hiura? That's not really evidence considering they're different players. Keston Hiura exhibited a growing K rate as he progressed through the minors, which in hindsight, was a huge warning sign as to how his production would translate to the majors. Frelick, on the other hand, struck out a mere 7.4% of the time in AAA, with one of the highest contact rates in all the minors. Hiura didn't fail because they rushed him through the minors. Hiura failed because he had a huge hole in his swing that was exposed once he faced major league pitching.
  12. Honestly, barring a free agent signing, which wouldn't make a lot of sense in light of the Renfroe trade, I think we're going to see: Yelich in LF, Frelick in CF, and Mitchell in RF, with Taylor as the 4th outfielder seeing regular at-bats. Yelich will get time at DH, but I don't see him moving there full time just yet.
  13. And where is the evidence for this? Because I just presented the evidence that they will almost certainly call him up in short order, if not by opening day....If you want to present things as a matter of fact, then the evidence should be clear...
  14. He was a college draft pick, expected to be one of the fastest movers from his draft class due to his elite hit tool....He literally just laid waste to AAA pitching, with more walks than strikeouts and one of the highest contact rates in the minors. He's ready, the Brewers recognize this, and they have an incentive to have him on the opening day roster. Hence, the Renfroe trade...
  15. Wiemer? Probably yes. Frelick? I severely doubt so. Frelick is as major league ready as it gets, with one of the best hit tools (if not THE best) in the entire minors. They may keep him down until mid to late April in order to gain the extra year of control. But he's going to be up in short order regardless. FWIW, he'll have to be on the opening day roster if they want the possibility of gaining that extra draft pick from the ROY vote.
  16. That trade with the Rays is how you completely wreck a franchise....
  17. FWIW, Wheeler was a 30 year old pitcher when he was signed to a five year deal by the Phillies a couple of offseasons ago, and look how that deal has turned out for them...Same thing with the Mets and DeGrom before that. I'd much rather extend a certified ace pitcher in Woodruff than a high strikeout, sub .300 OBP hitter in Adames.

  19. It doesn't matter. You have to be consistent. Did you watch the end of the game? The Kansas player literally flopped on Tyler Wahl's late layup.....
  20. Essigian is Tyler Herro 2.0. Herro maybe able to create a little more on offense, but virtually identical during their respective freshman years of college imo.
  21. Tale of two halfs lol. Though, I can't say I didn't have similar thoughts at the time. Beating Dayton, who was ranked until last week, and losing by 1 to Kansas is nothing to be ashamed of.
  22. That's how the ball bounces sometimes, though the refs deserve condemnation for their performance. Terrific effort against the defending national champions and #3 team in the country. If Hepburn gets his act together, this team will be competing for the BIG title once again.
  23. From MLBTR, "Rather, the Major League deal was likely reflective of considerable interest from other parties on minor league contracts." I never asserted that other teams were keen to sign him to a major league contract...But that there was likely appreciable interest in the player's skillset and that the Brewers offered him a major league contract to ensure that they were able to sign him.
