Bell is a great fit. We desperately need a middle of the order bat who can make contact and drive in runs with runners on base. Bell is precisely that guy. We're not in a position where we can turn down guys like him. My guess is he would be the primary 1B and McCutchen/Tellez would share DH duties. Keep in mind that McCutchen can also get time in the outfield and Tellez shouldn't be playing against LHP.

Bell is the power hitter we need to slot in the middle of the lineup. Also, hits for high average, plays a decent 1B, doesn't strike out, AND hits LHP. I'd be all in if I were Stearns so long as such a deal doesn't involve Chourio, Frelick, Wiemer, etc. which it certainly shouldn't.

Yep. As a pure rental, Benintendi is simply not going to get into Wiemer/Frelick/Turang/Mitchell territory. Why I like him and his fit.

I know some people on here are not the biggest fans of Benintendi. However, I believe that he would be a great antidote for what ails this offense; namely, a lack of contact and situational hitting. Also, he gets on base at a really good rate and plays solid corner outfield defense. Basically, it would eliminate the need to ever have to play McCutchen in the outfield again and enable us to DH him less against RHP.

Other stats like defense and OPS relative to position matter a heck of a lot, too. See Adames, who has been one of the best SS in the NL this year despite a lower than hoped for OBP.

Just grading the starters? I would argue that Jace Peterson is effectively a starter and should get a grade of around B+/A- with the defensive value he has provided this year alongside a solid batting line. As such, I'm hoping they make him the regular 3B against RHP while moving Urias to 2B and benching Wong.

Okay, let's look at your favorite stat of runs per game. Right now, the Brewers are 10th in MLB in that stat, in a virtual tie with the Cardinals and ahead of the Padres. Now, let's look at the advanced stat of WRC+. The Brewers are ranked 14th, just below teams such as the Giants and Phillies and ahead of the Padres. What does this mean? The Brewers are in fact, by the advanced stats and by the traditional stats, in the same general tier of MLB offenses as contenders such as the Padres, Giants, and Phillies...You can pound sand all you want, which is all you seem to want to do nowadays, but that's what the stats say right now. I believe that the offense does place them in a weaker position compared to teams like the Dodgers and Braves, but that it's not impossible for them to overcome that in a postseason series with arms like Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta (hopefully), Williams, Hader, etc. Had we gotten just an average level of offensive production last postseason, we likely would have been the ones advancing and not the Braves.

Agree wholeheartedly on all counts. Just goes to show how we're lucky enough to be able to watch the best (healthy) starting pitcher and relief pitcher in all of baseball on a regular basis. When you consider our history of developing pitchers, it's all the more remarkable.
