  1. Phillies-Astros. Game 1 Friday Night.
  2. Oh, for sure, it's definitely still in the hypothetical stage, and may never develop beyond that. But, I would never say never given how significant of a revenue-enhancer that sort of thing has proven to be across professional sports, and the fact that teams will always be looking to maximize their revenue streams. Attanasio's goal is to make AFF a year-round entertainment destination beyond the 81 home game days. He's arguably started that with the addition of X-Golf. There will inevitably be a natural progression which may or may not culminate with the creation of an entertainment district, but it will continue to be discussed and hypothesized, probably starting with the upcoming renovations fight. FWIW, not that they're identical situations, but the site of the Battery in Atlanta (Cobb County) wasn't anything special before the ballpark was built. God knows they have enough space surrounding AFF.
  3. Stone has likely surpassed Pepiot on prospect lists after their respective seasons. He's younger, has three plus to plus-plus pitches (as opposed to two for Pepiot), and has exhibited better control. Hence, the difference in Trade Value. Vargas, Miller, and Stone for Burnes becomes an even trade value-wise. You get your future middle of the order hitter in Vargas and two potential frontline starters in Miller and Stone.
  4. Burnes trade is not quite there value-wise. Would need one more prospect from the Dodgers, though you could also make up the difference by switching Stone for Pepiot. Quintana's salary is way too low. Try more like $10 mil AAV. Yandy Diaz for Taylor isn't a bad idea, though. I actually really like it, as it would allow for Urias to move to 2nd and for Turang to get his feet wet in a non-starting role. Diaz is the sort of high-average/high-OBP hitter we need more of.
  5. I will choose not to think like this, in light of an 87 win team that we should've overtaken making the World Series.
  6. Why arguments that Hader is more impactful than (potentially) a high-level starter such as Gasser just don't carry that much weight with me. How much impact can a guy have if he is only limited to pitching in the 9th???
  7. Yeah. It's exciting to think what he could potentially do next year with this group of receivers (and Allen) should he decide to come back. He might finally fulfill those outsized expectations, and take this offense to a level it hasn't seen since Wilson. The key will be for Leonhard and Bostad to right the ship on defense and on the o-line. I hope they continue to experiment with Franklin in the passing game. For a second, I thought Travis Beckham had put on a uniform when he made that catch down the seam. Just for a second, though, lol.
  8. 2023 Brewers win first WS :)
  9. If Luhnow were clearly such a better option than Stearns, you think he would've been immediately scooped up within the past couple of offseasons as Hinch and Cora were. Stearns has led us to some of our greatest heights as a franchise and has sustained that success for the most part. There's few, if any, out there who would be able to achieve better given our limited resources. And far more who could achieve worse.
  10. A team that faltered badly down the stretch and would've missed the playoffs entirely, had we taken advantage. Anyways, we didn't, so good for the Phillies. I hope they win the World Series over the Astros.
  11. Two good things to come from this series: 1) The chatter about the Grisham/Hader trades will start to quiet (for now) 2) Confirms that all the Brewers have to do to give themselves a shot at a WS in the future is to find a way into the dance each season, i.e., "bites of the apple." Now, no more loser trade deadlines, Stearns.
  12. You just gotta get in...The Brewers didn't get in despite every opportunity, and here we are....
  13. So....much....tension. You gotta love it. Especially when the Brewers aren't involved in which case I would be on the brink of death.
  14. Let's put it this way: I would rather get a future superstar, which I think Cartaya is, in return than getting a lesser talent who can play 3rd base, even if we already have some promising young catchers in the system. Trades can always be made to upgrade weaker positions.
  15. They're finding out the downside of Hader limiting himself to being solely a 9th inning pitcher.
  16. And Melvin doesn't bring in Hader to face him...
  17. Bryce Harper with the superstar home run to put the Phillies on the brink of the pennant....Wow
  18. Reasonable point. You could make the argument that the final "high point" of the Chryst era was the demolition of Minnesota in the snow to win the BIG West in 2019, with everything going downhill after the devastating succession of losses in the BIG Championship and the Rose Bowl.
  19. Prediction: Abner Uribe will end up as one of the Brewers' key late-inning weapons by the end of next season....
  20. At least I've learned to never listen to Packers twitter ever again....Spent the whole offseason telling us that this was still a great team with a ton of "weapons" and that we'd have a top 3 defense...Not to mention the Doubs-mania. Geez.
  21. Great, another huge contract that's a waste...
  22. I did caution those who spent a long time this summer wailing for Packers' season....
  23. Man, what I wouldn't give right now to watch even this year's Brewers' team over this embarrassing mess....
  24. It was in my above post.
  25. Most recent inside info from Robert Murray, who was previously a Brewers beat writer and maintains sources from high inside the organization. Doesn't seem to me like the team is too worried. Stearns' recent public comments have done nothing to indicate otherwise, either. I wouldn't be surprised to hear a contract extension announced sometime this offseason, perhaps within the next couple of weeks. The Mets are very happy with Eppler coming off a 100 win season, and I doubt they'd want to upset that apple cart at this point. @brewers888You have persistently perpetuated this conspiracy theory, yet what moves has Stearns made recently which might particularly harm the team in the long-term? If anything, many would accuse him of being too future-oriented after the Hader trade....
